Chapter 458 - 458: All Over The Place
Chapter 458 – 458: All Over The Place
Liam's POV
He couldn't get even one bite inside his mouth, although the roast rib in front of him looked scrumptious. He stole a glance towards his right where the woman was sitting. Luna. That was her name. She was the very personification of beauty. Somehow sitting near him, looking lost in her own thoughts, she appeared more beautiful than he had ever seen her.
Every inch of his body was craving for her. She looked like a pristine marble statue, one that could never be tarnished by the ravages of time- one that was above life itself. His breath quickened as his eyes followed the drop of the curve of her pale neck and towards the more developed parts of her body that were barely concealed by the deep neck of the gown.
Liam shook his head, trying to fight the cloud of desire that was fast fogging his mind for the infinite time tonight. She hadn't once touched the food, like him. But unlike him, she didn't appear to be disturbed by his presence. Of course, how could she? He thought as his canines slowly elongated, piercing his lower lips that slightly hung open. The soft stinging pain brought him back to reality.
"Dammit!" The alpha cursed under his breath, feeling helpless once again in her presence.
The scent of her blood mixed with that of her breath was making him light-headed and strangely possessive. His every instinct screamed at him to mark her. The wolf in him was dying for the slightest taste of her. It was hard trying to fight it, but it was unlike the dark overwhelming feeling of what the princess has put him through, he thought, shifting his gaze towards the other end of the long wooden table.
One look at Alicia and his desire changed into irritation. All the warnings that he had given her seemed to not have had any effect on the princess. Her voice was too loud, even in a room full of people whispering. He could see that most of them were interested in the conversation between the princess and his beta.
"I don't care what you do, Isaac! I want that witch gone from Liam's side!" The princess hissed, comfortably forgetting that she is in a room mostly filled with wolves.
Isaac chuckled nervously, glancing at the onlookers awkwardly. "You're asking for the impossible, princess." He whispered, lowering his voice as much as possible. "And stop calling her that for the sake of the goddess! The alpha will-"
"Enjoying the dinner, princess?" Liam asked, raising his voice as he interrupted the whispered conversation.
Alicia shivered startled by his voice. Her eyes immediately averted from Luna at who she was glaring with much hatred all this while. When it landed on him, he could see her gaze softening, mixed by the fear he had instilled in her from that day on. Yet, she held his gaze with much determination.
Liam gritted his teeth. He hated the woman looking at him with such a mixture of emotions. He wanted nothing to do with her. He was silently bearing everything because he knew how Isaac felt towards the princess. But the jealousy in her that was seeping through the room and winding around the woman he loved was sure to put Luna in some trouble.
A thousand thoughts stirred in his head, making him nervous with every second- an emotion that he hadn't felt before the arrival of Luna in his life, he thought, closing his eyes as her scent pushed into his senses once again. The alpha shook his head, trying to get a grip over his instincts. Biting down hard on his gums with his canines, he opened his eyes, relying on the pain to keep him sane.
This time, the princess shrank back, all the confidence in her eyes draining as she stared at him with much fear. Liam narrowed his glowing eyes, the wolf inside him giving out a warning to be bent or be broken. A low growl emitted from his chest, silencing the room in an instant. All eyes turned towards him, some confused while some in submission- all bowing to the alpha's might.
Isaac shifted in his seat uncomfortably, looking at him with pleading eyes. 'Please alpha. You know that she's not in her right mind.' His beta's voice reached out to him through the pack link.
Liam shifted his attention from the princess towards the man. 'Then shut your woman up, Isaac.' He warned, his eyes flashing a bright shade of blue.
The beta turned red at the command, embarrassed by the way he addressed the princess. Liam's mood lightened as Isaac nodded awkwardly, leaning towards the frightened princess to whisper something in her ear. The alpha sighed, shaking his head. He hoped that her jealousy wouldn't get the better of her this time. He hoped that she had enough sense to keep her mouth shut, at least in front of the king. He knew how to shut the rest up, Liam thought to himself.
As he turned towards a still silent Luna, he caught a few of his people gawking at her with their mouths open. The alpha gritted his teeth in irritation. Maybe he did a mistake by bringing her down for the pack's dinner, he thought, regretting the presence of his wolves in the room. Liam cleared his throat, narrowing his eyes at the awestruck men.
"Eyes down, my men." He warned, "She's mine."
The wolves quickly lowered their gaze, not daring to meet his eyes.
"I am?" A soft musical voice came from his right, startling him with its suddenness.
For a moment, his heart stopped. His eyes widened and the tips of his ears reddened as a child caught red-handedly doing something that he wasn't supposed to. Luna laugh, her blindingly beautiful smile trapping every bit of his being in it.
'Did I say that out loud?' Liam asked, unable to look away from the breathtaking view in front of him.
'You're all over the place today alpha.' Isaac's voice echoed through the link teasingly.
Liam cursed under his breath, offering the woman an awkward smile.. He wondered what she might be thinking of him by now.
