Primordial Dimensions

Chapter 12: Upgrade-missions

Chapter 12: Upgrade-missions

Shane went back to the food stall he was previously at and the middle-aged woman´s eyes bulged when she saw the young man arriving in front of her.

`Whoa… so handsome` when she suddenly realized something `HUH? Isn´t that the dirty youth from before? Why is he here again?` but she had to maintain her business smile and wouldn´t ask impolite questions to her customer.

Shane noticed the woman´s behavior but decided to ignore it as he ordered the same dishes he had before.

After receiving the large piece of pizza and fried rice cakes, he went to the exact same chair as before but now, he placed the pizza and the rice cakes on the table in front of him without doing anything else.

The woman behind the counter was confused as she continued to cook when she noticed something moving around the youth´s neck as a black-scaled snake slithered along the black robe when her eyes widened once more in shock.

She was even forced to cover her mouth to not shout out.

Regaining her senses, she noticed that the black scaled snake seemed harmless and was eating the fried rice cake greedily.

‘Is he a Tamer? She questioned herself and looking at the young but athletic-shaped youth in front of her, the vendor began to wonder how long it had been since he had entered the Primordial Dimensions because Shane looked like he was at most 16-years-old, even though his athletic physique and sharp facial features could speak for something else, she knew better.

Guessing the age of others was her specialty and she had never been wrong with that, which caused her to be curious about the youth in front of her.

When Umbra finished eating, Shane wanted to stand up but the stall woman asked him if his tamed beast wanted to eat a little bit more.

She even said that it would be on the house and Umbra transmitted, that he could eat more.

Accepting, Shane thanked the woman properly, while he received a notification from the system

[Loyalty of (Umbra) increased by 5%]

`So easy?` Shane asked himself astonished, but he would be stupid if he was displeased about Umbra´s loyalty increasing like that.

Thinking about Umbra´s increase of loyalty, Shane decided to purchase some good food, to give it to him daily.

Maybe his loyalty could increase to a certain extent with that.

As long as it didn´t decrease everything was fine.

While Umbra ate, Shane talked a little bit with the vendor and ordered a few more pizzas and fried rice cakes he would store in his cramped spatial ring, before he said goodbye and left, when Umbra finished everything.

The vendor was slightly sad to see Shane walking away, but there wasn´t anything she could do about it and the youth seemed nice.

Maybe he would come back once again to eat someday and she awaited the day, as Shane lightened up her mood in such an eerie shelter.

Arriving in his small room, Umbra was coiled around his hand and sleeping soundly, while Shane´s hand was placed inside his pocket, to hold it warm because it was still raining.

Taking off his robe, Shane did his best to prevent Umbra from waking up and after his robe was taken care of, he slowly changed his wet set of clothes, as it was uncomfortable to walk and sit anywhere with wet clothes.

In the beginning, he didn’t care about that but the longer he talked to the vendor woman, the more uncomfortable the wet clothes became.

As such he had to slightly ignore Umbra, who was still sleeping soundly, while he changed his clothes.

In the end, Shane had to purchase a new set of clothes for 50 bronze coins, because he forgot to take another set of clothes with him.

50 bronze coins were still acceptable for Shane but it still hurt him slightly that he had to purchase clothes with his hard-earned money if he could have just bought a bag with clothes with him.

After he wore the new set of clothes which was an extremely difficult task, considering that he had only one hand free, Shane decided to take a glance at his Innate Skill´s [Upgrade]-function.

And it was roughly as Shane predicted, at least from the outlines it was similar to how others described the innate skill upgrade window.

Everything except the two-star mission was locked and reading the description, Shane was neither confused nor enlightened.

He had already tamed a beast which was also shown clearly, but the second part of his task was rather unclear.

Does increasing the strength of Umbra mean once it reaches maturity and increases the strength to get closer to its limit or would feeding Umbra be enough, because he was a youngling and would still grow quite a bit, even without evolving?

The latter was definitely easier but increasing Umbra´s strength by `working out` or doing something similar like that could be considered quite hard for a two-star Trash mission and Shane hoped he could go the easier path.

Now that Umbra was sleeping, Shane grew tired, but there was something important he had to do before he could sleep.

Otherwise, he would waste important time, he didn’t want to afford to squander!

Entering the System, Shane searched for the Primordial online platform also called PrimWeb, where all kinds of races could post threads for their own race to read and if wanted even by foreign races.

Due to that, weird social interactions between all kinds of races formed and races with enmity often transformed into keyboard warriors to slay each other with words.

For neutral races, it was quite funny to look at it but humanity tried to make friends by networking and they built up a small community with races like forest elves and mountain dwarves.

When Shane got to know about these races he was extremely astonished and when he looked at their appearance they were exactly the same as described on Igra.

Forest elves took care of nature and didn´t hunt beasts wildly, all of them were beautiful without exception and their pointy ears were also a special characteristic that was present.

And like in fairy tales, their talent towards mana was superior to humans and most are born with an inborn Basic plant, wood, or even nature affinity, while their lifespan was extremely long.

They are natural-born alchemists and gained a huge fortune by selling potions in their shops within PrimWeb.

Dwarves were also roughly the same as described in earth fairy tales with their bulky and small body structure, they can work perfectly fine as blacksmiths, which is their forte. They live for a long time and are also born with an extremely good mana aptitude.

Most dwarves are born with earth affinities, with some rarer mutations have a metal affinity, while others have a mud affinity, fire, and even magma affinity.

But most natural-born dwarves with high affinities are seen as prodigies and will be strictly nurtured.

They can rarely be found on PrimWeb, writing with other races and as such, they remain a legend.

Looking through the PrimWeb forum threads, Shane was way too distracted.

As such he decided to enter a particular section within PrimWeb, which had the purpose to purchase and sell items through shops.
