Chapter 1420: Her son should remember her.
Looking at the adorable manner of her kids, Pei Ge’s smile brightened.
“Little brother, come play with us.”
Both siblings darted to Ji Chi’s side and sat down next to him after cozying up with their grandmother for a while.
“Mhm.”
The boy did not protest when the two sat by his side. Instead, a smile blossomed on his face.
He seemed happy to have someone play with him.
The woman’s lips curled into a beautiful smile as she watched her children have fun.
“They’re definitely triplets. Look at them; how adorable is that?”
Madam Ji commented. She clearly enjoyed looking at these kids play together, too.
“Yes, auntie; you’re so lucky to have three adorable grandchildren.”
Qu Jingwan smiled and nodded in agreement.
“Right. Miss Pei, how did you lose Baby after you gave birth back then? Also, I heard that Ran Ran used to have heart problems when she was much younger.”
The older woman’s expression turned sour when she heard that question.
Thinking of how Pei Ge had run away from the wedding without a word back then, one would think that the woman let her anger toward Ji Ziming out on the kids.
At least, that was what this elderly madam thought.
Pei Ge knew the ill will behind the missy’s question. She looked at her plainly and replied dryly and flatly, “Yes. I gave birth prematurely on my seventh month term due to seeing news of Miss Qu’s engagement with my fiancé.”
“…”
Her words made both women pause.
They did not expect her to say something like that.
The atmosphere became quiet between the three thereafter.
Pak!
Suddenly, a wooden block landed by her feet which broke the silence.
Bending over, she picked up the wooden block and looked up to see the boy staring at her with pursed lips.
She walked over to him slowly.
“This is yours.”
The boy looked at her hand and continued building his wooden house as if he had not seen her.
“Baby, what should you do when someone helps you?” said Qu Jingwan gently, looking at the other victoriously.
Pei Ge always looked high and mighty when interacting with her, which made the latter look bad in front of Ji Ziming.
Ji Chi raised his head to look at Pei Ge hesitantly before he took the block from her quickly. He appeared to be unwilling to have any contact with her.
“Thank you.”
“That’s right; what a good baby.” The missy praised him while looking victoriously at the other woman.
Alas, the latter was not moved and merely looked at her son tenderly.
She seemed to have seen her son flinch when he touched her hand earlier while retrieving his wooden block.
Her son should still have memories of her, right?
