“I got it.”

Ji Ziming stood up and said ‘goodnight’ to his mother before heading upstairs.

Pei Ge had already showered and was now walking to the vanity table while wrapped in a towel. She was doing her skincare routine when Ji Ziming opened the door. Her beautiful collarbones entered his sight first. The woman turned to look at him, and her alluring eyes hit his heart hard.

‘A lotus flower that rose from under the water’ was not enough to describe the surprise that she gave him.

It was another night of intimacy, and the very next day, Ji Ziming assigned the task of organizing the business gathering to his secretary. The latter quickly contacted the hotel and busied himself with the task at hand.

Just as the preparations at the hotel ended, someone showed up in the Ji Group’s CEO’s office.

“Young Master Ji, it’s been a long time since I last saw you. How have you been recently?”

Qu Jingwan in a red dress and a pair of black leather shoes looked every bit of a rich lady. Her expensive makeup made her look more coquettish.

“What brings you here today?”

Ji Ziming sat in front of his desk with documents in his hands. Before he could finish dealing with these, a familiar voice came from the door. The person, whose voice sounded numbing and alluring, was of course this missy.

She looked at him abashedly yet seductively.

“Have you missed me? I received your secretary’s invitation to a gathering early this morning, so I rushed over to look for you. Are you really going to give me the cold shoulder?”

This lady could not take it lying down. This was not the ending that she had had in mind.

“The place you’re standing is in the way of my wife who will be coming in any minute now.”

His voice was aloof as though it had come from glacial depths.

“Don’t your heart ache for saying that? I’ve been kicked out by you; could it be that you’ve never missed me even once?”

She looked pitifully at him as she leaned against the door flirtatiously.

The CEO’s office was not somewhere an average person could enter, unless the man allowed one to, but this lady managed to enter.

“Who let you in?”

His voice was harsh. He thought that if she refused to leave, he would get the security to throw her out.

“I let her in.”

Pei Ge carried a stack of documents in her hands as she walked past Qu Jingwan and headed to his desk. Her face was filled with perspiration.

“You?”

The man could not believe that she was the one who had let this missy into his office.

“That’s right; I let Miss Qu in,” confirmed the woman again.

“Ge Ge, why did you…”

His voice was smooth as he shot a glance at the missy, who was still at the door. “Why didn’t you tell me?”

“What should I? She wanted to meet you, so I agreed and brought her along.”

She signaled Qu Jingwan. “Speak to her properly; perhaps she might know something.”

The man, who was confused, instantly understood why Pei Ge had let this lady into his office. Thus, he nodded. “I got it; you go get busy.”

Pei Ge returned her voice to normal volume as she placed the documents down. She walked to the lady’s side and said, “Miss Qu, I promised to help you meet Ji Ziming, so don’t forget your promise as well.”

“I’ll remember it, so don’t worry. I’ll surely show up for the gathering.”

“Okay, then.”

Pei Ge nodded as she shot Ji Ziming another glance. Their eyes met. She left the office and headed to the one next door.

Next door, the room was originally occupied by the man’s secretary, but ever since Pei Ge returned, that secretary had moved downstairs. Furthermore, most of the matters were settled by her on his behalf, so there was not much need for a secretary around anymore.

Pei Ge entered the room. She had made two trips earlier: first was to head to the secretary’s office and bring all the documents she needed and second was to bring all the documents that the man needed to his office.

When she thought of Qu Jingwan being in his office, she felt uncomfortable.

“Ziming, are you really not going to look at me?”

The lady tried her best to earn his attention, but the latter did not bother looking up at her.

“Are you really not going to tell me about Qu Xiujie being in your house?”

She decided to break the cauldrons and sink the boats as she walked up to him.

The man, who was holding a pen, appeared to be clearly taken aback. Instantly, he questioned. “What are you trying to do? Threaten me?”

The last thing that he was afraid of was being threatened. Only he threatened others and not the other way around.

“I’m not threatening you, but I want to make a deal with you; how about that?”

Qu Jingwan’s eyes were scarlet red, making her look like a blood-sucking demon.

“Then, what do you want to do?”

He looked up. The ruthless look in his eyes sent a shiver down her spine, and she soon broke out in a cold sweat.

“I only wanted to make a deal with you. It’s up to you whether you want to do it or not. You’re Ji Ziming; there’s nothing anyone can do. My purpose for being here is to strike a deal with you. I know that, in your eyes, Pei Ge can’t threaten you, let alone me.”

The lady seemed as though she had been defeated. She dipped her head and thought of how to explain what she had just said.

Ever since her return to the Qu family from the Ji family, she realized that her grandmother always did things, just as how the latter had arranged for her to be with another man, without asking for her permission. A lot of things that she had never experienced in the past started sprouting like bamboo shoots after a spring rain. All those tricks really surprised her.

However, the most shocking thing was when she overheard her grandmother calling and threatening to make her uncle disappear from this world. Only then did she realize that the elderly woman was not as caring and perfect as what she had thought her to be.

The only thing she saw was endless darkness and haze.

She had only known about everything by then.

She thought that it was perhaps not too late, only to be proven wrong when she mustered up the courage to look for Ji Ziming. That was because Qu Xiujie would not follow her and support her in dealing with her grandmother.

“Do you think that I, Ji Ziming, need to strike a deal with you?”
