He picked up the shirt they had discarded aside earlier. He held all the items with one hand and tugged Fang Xinxin up with the other. “Wife, let’s search for a place to avoid the sunlight before we look for food.”
“En.” She glanced towards the burning hot sun. “We have to find somewhere with shade.”
Otherwise, they would likely suffer from heat stroke.
In fact, both of them were currently in very poor health. They were dizzy from hunger and their skin was wrinkled after drifting in the ocean for days.
Fang Xinxin felt that she was doing alright. She would quickly recover from the surface wounds and her hunger with some food.
But Bai Qinghao…
Although his gunshot wound had recovered significantly, his complexion appeared especially poor.
Previously, when they had fallen in the ocean, he had protected her and suffered the impact of their fall. Could it be that he had lingering injuries from the fall?
This was an unidentified and uninhabited island. Both of them were starving and did not dare to venture too deep into the island for fear that they would come across threats that they could not handle.
However, after walking for several hundred meters, all they found were short bushes and a single, enormous tree. None of them could provide any useful shade.
The two of them no longer had any more strength left to explore the place.
Bai Qinghao scanned their surroundings and found a piece of flat land. He supported Fang Xinxin to sit. “It seems like we’ll have to build a shelter ourselves.”
Fang Xinxin discovered that there were a lot of mosquitoes in this place. Both of them had already been bitten many times. “Let’s build one by the beach. There are too many mosquitoes here.”
“En.” He nodded. As he took in the reddened bumps on her skin, his heart ached for her. “Find a place to rest. Leave this matter to me.”
“Is your body alright…” She asked in concern.
“I’m fine.” Truthfully, he felt pangs of pain in his body every so often. However, he felt much better than when he first got injured and felt that could still endure it.
“Drink some water first.” She retrieved a bottle tied to the first aid kit. It had been used to contain rubbing alcohol, but had since been emptied and filled with rain water.
He received it and emptied the entire bottle.
Fang Xinxin also finished the water in the other two bottles.
As the bottle was too small, it barely contained enough water from them. Thus, they also drank some of the water they had stored in the first aid kit.
Finally, when their thirst was satiated, they were left with around 2.5 liters of water in the first aid box. It would likely last them for two more days.
Looking for food was more urgent than building a shade right now.
Bai Qinghao scanned their surroundings and spoke up, “Wife, I’ll go to the seaside to see if there is any food we can eat.”
He wanted to bring her along with him. However, her exhausted appearance left his heart aching. Thus, he said, “Find somewhere cool to wait for me. I’ll be back quickly.”
She nodded.
She also wanted to help. However, she was nearly paralysed from exhaustion.
She noticed a small shadow cast by a tall tree and sat down underneath to doze off.
Almost an hour later, as Fang Xinxin began to worry for Bai Qinghao, he returned. He held a bundle made from his shirt in his arms.
She hurriedly stood up. “Hubby, you’re back.”
His heart rippled looking at her overjoyed expression. “En.” He opened the dress shirt in his arms. It contained a small pile of shells. “These are edible seafood. But we don’t have a pot or a source of fire..”
