Chapter 135 - Battle Training Part Three
Chapter 135 - Battle Training Part Three
Kiliffia almost stumbled when Instructor Mills yelled for her to stop. She canceled her fox art and took in a deep breath as she tried to catch her breath. After a few seconds, she stood up and wiped the sweat from her chin. To keep her [Trickster] going, she had to push her body to the limits, and even her mind since controlling so many leaves at once was a huge burden on her mind. Instructor Mills looked at Kiliffia with a smile as he nodded his head repeatedly. "Little girl, you are very good. But do not let my praise go to your head. You still have a lot to learn. Go take a rest."
Kiliffia nodded and gave a faint tired smile as she walked back over to Kana. "Goddess Kana, how was I?"
Kana smiled and rubbed the sweaty head of the little fox girl. "You did well."
"Alright, next!" Instructor Mills saw that it was almost time for class to end and wanted to rush things along.
"I guess it is now my turn." Kana said as she patted Kiliffia's head on more time and began walking towards the battle stage.
"Good luck!" Kiliffia shouted as she waved her hand back and forth, her fluffy tail wagging away as she did.
When Kana stood on the stage in front of Instructor Mills, he couldn't help but think of how beautiful she was. But he also felt a heavy pressure coming off of her. Something he had not felt in a long time. Because of this heavy pressure, he became very confused. He did not understand how a young girl could even make him feel pressured. He may not be the most powerful person in the land, but he was still very strong. To feel pressured by a young girl did not sit well with him.
Shaking his head, trying not to let things get to him, Instructor Mills repeated the same line he has said many times now: "Don't feel nervous, come at me with everything you got."
"MMm…"Kana nodded her agreement and then… She disappeared.
Instructor Mills was shocked! He couldn't believe his eyes. The little girl who was right in front of him actually disappeared! He felt very ashamed! Never in his life did he think a student could escape his eyes like this. Even Kiliffia's fox art he was able to deal with easily. But this time he really couldn't see the student that was just standing in front of him!
"If you keep staring off into space and not concentrating on the fight, you will lose." Kana's voice came from behind Instructor Mills, causing a chill to run down his spine. He quickly turned and shot backward in retreat as Kana appeared, striking out with her fist. He couldn't help but want to shed a few tears because the pose she was making was the same exact basic punch he had just taught her. He really wondered if this little girl was trying to make him lose all face! But he had no time to complain because once again the young girl disappeared!
Outside the battle stage, the whole place was silent except for a single fox girl's cheering. "Goddess Kana, you can do it! Punch him! Push his face into the dirt, then step on him! Stick a rock up his butt!"
Some of the words coming out of the girl's mouth really made some of the students who were there for the earlier episode's butt cheeks clench tight. But most were just too shocked at what was happening on stage. Instructor Mills seemed to be in trouble as he kept running away from Kana. But one had to admit his movement technique was very good! Even though he seemed to be at a disadvantage, he was still able to dodge each of Kana's attacks. But what some did not understand was why was she only punching?
The reason why Kana was not willing to use any weapons or skills was because she was afraid of hurting Instructor Mills. As soon as she noticed that he was having a hard time keeping up with her speed, she knew not to use her sword in case she accidentally seriously hurt him. She did not want to hurt someone who had done nothing wrong. Plus, she still needed to learn many more things from Instructor Mills.
After many rounds of Kana disappearing and attacking, Instructor Mills was beginning to get tired. Finally, just before Kana was about to disappear again, Instructor Mills raised his hand and shouted out: "Stop! That is enough. Little lady, I do not know how you became so strong, but you really are rubbing it in my face by only using basic attacks."
Kana rubbed her nose. She did not mean to do it like that. It was just that she had nothing else she could use. "I can't use any spells unless I want to seriously hurt someone and the arena… Plus, I wanted to practice what I was taught in today's class. I never had any special training, so this class is important to me."
Instructor Mills was surprised. He could tell Kana was not trying to boast or anything she was telling the truth. And that was when it hit him. "Your name is Kana, right?"
"Mmm." Kana nodded her head.
"If I am not mistaken, the hero of Rural is a young girl named Kana. You wouldn't happen to be said hero?" Instructor Mills could only think of this possibility with how powerful she was. Just from her basic punch alone, he could feel the strength and even felt the wind as it blew past his face from her punch alone.
"To be honest, I do not see myself as a hero. But that is what people seemed to have been calling me as of late…" Kana blushed as she lowered her head. She still felt this title was not really fitting for her since in the end she was the one saved and the war was stopped by others.
