Chapter 315 - Building A Treehouse
Chapter 315 - Building A Treehouse
Right now, Kana was not happy. She was extremely grumpy due to one fact and one fact alone. This place had a lot of arrogant birds who kept flying at her and pecking her. The entire night she was battling it out with an entire flock of fifty of them. So she was very tired at this time. "Damn birds making me kill you, then pluck you, then roast you… "
Kana pouted as she pulled the feathers off the birds. She did not plan to just toss them away since that would be a waste of food, but the task of cleaning them was tedious. It took her half the morning while half dozing off to clean the fifty birds. Once she was done, she stretched a little bit before forcing herself to get up and begin building the walls for her treehouse.
The forest once again was filled with the sounds of trees falling. Kana gathered around sixty trees and debranched them before taking them all back to her camp. She took her time as she made sure the bottom pieces were nice and secure before starting work on creating the walls. She had notched each log so it would sit nicely with the other and alternated each section as the walls went up. Only when everything was fully up, and she was surrounded by four walls, did she squat down by one wall and take her dagger out to start carving out an entrance.
Kana never made a treehouse before, so this was all new to her, but she felt satisfied every time she completed a part. With how she alternated each section so that they notched all together, it made for a sturdy structure.
Kana's day went by quickly as she busied herself. When she was hungry, she would roast one of the birds she killed. The rest were hung up to dry. She knew they would not last long, but she could only make due for now. When she was tired, she laid back on the wood floor and slept sprawled out without a care in the world. Kana had slept in more dangerous places than this, so unless she was being attacked, she slept soundly without any worry as she peacefully entered dreamland.
As for the two watching Kana, they were more amazed by the changes in her body. Kana's body had grown taller, her chest now had small mounds on it, but the most strange thing that Senior Miyu and Instructor Shelly were confused about and surprised about was the horn, tail, and wings that were starting to grow. On top of that, Kana did not seem bothered by them as if she had always had them, and this was not the tip of the iceberg. They had also seen Kana spit out fire from her mouth like it was nothing.
Kana, who had undergone these changes, was happy. She was getting closer and closer to the appearance she loved most. She also had her ability to breathe fire back. All these things made Kana happy beyond belief. She also noticed her hair was slowly turning from black to its purple color with white highlights. "I wonder how long before I have my normal appearance back, and if I do get it back, what will happen then."
Kana knew her appearance would probably make a stir, but she didn't care. Her strength was gradually returning. Nothing in this world could possibly kill her. But even though she had released her aura to keep monsters away, there was still one kind of monster that seemed hell bent on attacking her every now and then, and that was those damn birds! She would get so angry being woken up that she would forget her own strength and start fighting it out with the stupid things!
"Finished!" After a month of hard work and slowly perfecting her creation Kana now had a well built treehouse that looked no different than a small log cabin. Kana had her hands on her hips as she wagged her now fully grown tail back and forth. She was very proud of her little achievement. "Now then… If I can just find some kind ore…" Kana got lost in thought. It had been a while since she could relax, so this was all like a vacation to her. She was also not the only one to think this.
"Senior Miyu, why does this look like she is on vacation?" Instructor Shelly asked.
"Do you wish to go in and tell her to take this training seriously? Do you not notice that most of the mutated beasts that are known to rip a man to shreds are all avoiding her. Not to mention her new look, that girl is more dangerous than anything in that place except for maybe that thing. But no one would dare disturb that thing." Senior Miyu looked at the main screen above the smaller ones. The camera was pointed at a certain cave entrance.
Back inside the forest, Kana was sitting on a rock, a little lost as to what to do. "I tried using many spells, but I can only seem to use my fire breath. I wanted to tear a passage to Instructor Shelly and ask if she knew where any ore was. But I guess I can only search for myself. My fire is hot enough to melt metal at least…"
Kana held up the red hot dagger in her hand. She poked it with a finger, and the metal began to slowly form around it as she pushed her finger right through the dagger itself. "I guess I can only go out and search. I better make sure my house is all set before leaving, though. I am not sure if those damn birds will come and try to destroy it out of anger or not." Kana got up and looked at her treehouse from down below before mumbling: "If they do destroy it, I will be sure to hunt them down until they go extinct!"
