Chapter 493 - Fates Wheels Begin To Spin
Chapter 493 - Fate's Wheels Begin To Spin
Deep in the woods of the Faegrocari continent, Ceilie was sweating from head to toe as she carried Nergal on her back. Blood dripped from her body onto the ground, but it was not hers. It all belonged to Nergal, who had sacrificed herself to protect Ceilie when they were ambushed by a few thousand insectoids.
"Nergal, hold on. Once we are somewhere safe, we will have healed up, okay? You can't leave me, okay?" Tears streamed down Ceilie's cheeks as she continued pushing forward, even in her exhausted state. She did not care for any monsters that were chasing after her as they were all killed off by her original pursuers. She hoped that maybe just maybe, the insectoids that were following her would just give up.
At the time, they were just enjoying a meal inside a village inn when thousands of insectoids appeared out of nowhere. They were completely overrun before they could do anything. In order to protect Ceilie, Nergal had thrown herself on top of her blocking the insectoids who had jumped on them, trying to take a bite out of Ceilie. Nergal lost an arm, a foot, and a chunk out of her side.
If it was not for the fact that Nergal was already a named goddess, she would have already succumbed to her injuries, but that was only for now. If she kept bleeding as she was, she would not live much longer. "Nergal, don't fall asleep! You have to stay awake okay?"
She had been running for hours now, and she could stop to check Nergal's situation. She could only feel the faint rise and lowering of her stomach on her back telling her that Nergal was still alive. "Please… Someone…" Ceilie had never been so desperate in her entire life. She just wanted Nergal to be safe and sound. The years they have been together were like a fleeting dream. Nergal really cared for her and loved her dearly, and she loved Nergal back. If she lost Nergal…
"Ahh!" Ceilie's foot got caught on a root causing her to trip and tumble to the ground. She did her best to pull Nergal into her arms, but Nergal still took a few hits off the ground as pain surged through her body, causing her to grunt in pain.
Covered in dirt and mud, Ceilie struggled to pull Nergal into her arms and hold on to her tightly. She looked ahead of her and saw hundreds of red eyes coming towards them. She looked down at Nergal, whose eyes were barely opened, tears dripped from her eyes and down her cheeks before finally falling onto Nergal's face.
Nergal mustered up the last of her energy and reached up and touched Ceilie's cheek. "Leave me and live on…" She could only those words before her arm went limp and fell to her side.
Ceilie stared at the pained smile on Nergal's lips and leaned down and kissed them. She knew Nergal had just spoken her last words. Ceilie was forcing back the wave of tears that wished to flood from her eyes as she held Nergal's lifeless body in her embrace. "I will die with you. I will never leave you in this life or the next. So we will go on our own terms instead of letting them eat us alive."
Ceilie's eyes were full of love as she kissed Nergal once more. "Nergal, thank you for loving me… I will be joining you soon… I promise to find you in my next life…" Ceilie did not wish to live a life without Nergal. In fact, she could no longer see a life without the girl she loved. She would rather die with Nergal and take out those who harmed her at the same time so that they could at least rest in peace. "Eternal Combustion…"
*Booom!*
The whole area for hundreds of kilometers suddenly exploded in flames in all directions. The spot where Ceilie was the center of the explosion. The entire area around them was instantly turned to ash, including the insectoids that had been pursuing them…
---
On the eighteenth floor of hell, Kana froze and looked up at the sky. She had a wave of sadness suddenly overwhelm her as tears began to roll down her cheeks.
"Kana?" Camlia looked over at Kana, who suddenly started crying with a worried expression.
"Big Sister, I will leave the rest to you. I have to hurry to the mortal realm. I think something happened to Ceilie." The wave of sadness that suddenly overwhelmed her caused her thoughts to drift to Ceilie. She had to go and check for herself.
"Go, we can handle things here." Camlia could tell if Kana did not go now, she would regret it for the rest of her life.
Kana nodded before disappearing. She reappeared in the skies over the Rural Kingdom before flying towards the Faegrocari continent. She had to rush. The feeling inside her was growing stronger and stronger. She flew for four hours before reaching the edge of the Faegrocari continent shores. It was then when a ground shaking explosion was heard off in the distance. Kana's face paled as the feeling of sadness suddenly disappeared as if a connection was cut off. "Sister!" Kana raced towards the direction of the explosion, but all she found was scorched earth and ash covering a large area.
"Kana!" Sei appeared next to Kana. "I came when I finally felt a power from Ceilie's hellfire cat race. But this is…"
"She is no more…" Kana floated down into the ashed filled ground and landed in the center where Ceilie would have been. She knelt down and picked up a handful of ash, clutching it in her hand as she let out a mournful cry. "Ahhhh! Why!!!! Why does everything keep being taken from me!? Why must I keep losing those I love!? Why! Why am I so cursed…"
Kana's pain and sorrow was beginning to drive her death element powers out of control. A cyclone of death element began to encircle her and spread out in all directions. Kana lifted her head and looked up at the sky, tears streaming down her cheeks. "Since I keep having everything taken away from me, I will just leave a world of nothingness…" A grey mist began to flood out of Kana's body as she softly whispered, Land of Death…"
