Reincarnated as an Energy with a System

Chapter 1514: Taste of Spark

Chapter 1514: Taste of Spark

There were 10 underground cities in total, each simply numbered and not named. Each one of those cities was of similar height and width, having an average of 60 stories to each city.

Each story had a circumference of over 2 kilometers, making space for hundreds of houses in each story. With so many stories, that made for tens of thousands of houses in each city.

And that was only the walls of the city. The main middle section of the city also housed a lot of people as well as the main commercial section of the city.

Even so, with 10 underground cities, the cities were still overpopulated, and building a new city was in progress at the very moment.

Each city was connected to a central hub city, which was where the military operated

from. There were dozens of tunnels that led to the 10 different cities all around from this hub city. Sᴇaʀᴄh the NʘvᴇlFirᴇ.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of nøvels early and in the highest quality.

It was also the city where Ning had arrived upon.

Ning was in his room now, which he was supposed to be sharing with some new cadet. But because he had joined out of season, he was the only one there for now.

Ning took out the glass vial and looked at the colorful dust within it. The color of the dust ranged from red to blue to green, and sometimes there were even specks of black and white in there.

It was quite pretty overall, but its aesthetics was not what made the dust so desirable and valuable. It was the fact that this magic dust gave a person power so long as they took it into their body.

There were apparently 10 powers in total, but Ning wasn’t yet aware of just what those powers were. He hadn’t seen a single one, so he could only wonder what his powers were going to be.

Ning dipped his finger into the glass vial, bringing out a layer of dust. He didn’t want to eat the whole thing at once since he didn’t know just how much it was that one needed to use magic.

Ning licked his finger without hesitation, tasting a somewhat metallic taste from the Spark, before he swallowed it. As soon as he swallowed the dust, Ning felt something bubbling inside of him, some sort of power.

It was quite low compared to all the different energy that he had used in his life, but it was significant enough that he recognized its presence when it was there.

Ning could feel the magic, but he didn’t know what to do with it. How was he supposed to check what he could do?

“Uhh… Fireball!” he shouted, pointing his hand toward the wall. Nothing happened.

“Wind blades!” he shouted again, and yet nothing happened once again.

Ning thought for a bit. He looked toward metal to see if he could attract it. That wasn’t it either.

Could he fly then? Teleport? Telekinesis? Super strength?

Nothing of what he tried came close to using up the magic that was in his body. And unfortunately, as he could do nothing to use it, the magic simply faded away in time.

Ning frowned at the end. What exactly had happened? What were his powers supposed to be? Or was he truly sparkless?

“No, I should be able to use all magic,” Ning thought. He had in fact bought a body that had already acclimated to all magic and energy. There was not a world he could go to where he couldn’t immediately begin learning its magic.

That meant Ning was doing something wrong. He needed more information about the whole thing.

After some thought, Ning decided to visit a local library to see what he could find there.

As a military hub city, the library provided to them also belonged to the military as well. Ning arrived at the library and quickly began looking for various topics that he would want to read about.

He took up a book about history, about the powers, about the different satellites and their geography.

Ning began learning about history first. Before even powers, it was the history of this world that had made him curious.

The history of this world was not about the world itself but about its people.

The earliest the history books went were about 300 years back when there were only 20 thousand people surviving, all of whom lived in a single underground space of Wream, one of the larger moons of Krimanax.

They had just moved there from some other moon that wasn’t listed at all. They

had apparently lost many people during their travel to that moon.

There, they had realized that they had come a little too late and if they stayed behind, the cold would kill them. So, they had to move.

It was also during this time that they realized about Spark, and how the dust that fell naturally outside of their underground bases was something magical.

Ning continued reading and saw about the dangers of going outside. Some moons were toxic, some moons were cold. Some moons had no atmosphere and were barren. Those were some of the better moons.

Ning read about the expedition to Ivowar, where they had lost everyone to a meteor shower they could not predict. A Thinker was since then assigned to each one of this expedition.

Ning continued reading more and more and came to understand the lifestyle of these poor, poor people.

They lived a life on the run. They would settle onto a moon for a couple of years without enough supply of Spark, and then prepare to leave once again for another moon.

The last record in the history book was how they had come to Zoultan exactly 2 years and 3 months ago, and they were preparing to leave once again.

Ning closed the history book and shook his head, sighing for these people. Alas, they had to survive somehow. He then proceeded to open the next book about powers and read it.
