Chapter 1565: Finally, Dust
Chapter 1565: Finally, Dust
The leader quickly took off the gloves to his suit, surprising Ning. He didn’t expect the man to do something so dangerous all of a sudden. He wondered what he was trying to do.
The leader then then did something and Ning felt a difference in the pressure around him. His eyes narrowed slightly as he realized what had been done.
The man had converted the toxic air in the small compartment into breathable air. He hadn’t been able to get all of it at once, so he did it a couple more times. By the 5th conversion, they could take their head out of the suit and breathe if they wanted to.
But they didn’t.
Instead, the Carver moved next, creating a seal around just the four of them, and then opened the way to the outer section of the room, leaving the previous section untouched.
Then, he pulled up another wall in front of him, compartmentalizing another chunk of the
room.
The leader repeated the previous process and converted everything toxic into non-toxic, breathable air.
They repeated the process a few more times, each time turning more and more sections of the room breathable. Then, finally, when all of the air in the room was completely converted, the Carver put down all of the walls except for the final one where the mixture was in.
Ning watched as the Carver took the mixture and moved it to another room with his ground manipulation powers. The room next to them had been where they kept all other materials and now that Ning walked in there, he could see a large hole in the ground.
They took the plastic mat from the first room and put it into the hole, taking along with it the mixture that would result in Dust. Once done, they poured water into the mix, filling the hole until all of the mixtures was submerged.
Once all of it was submerged, the four of them finally took off their suits and masks.
“Phew!” the leader let out a quick sigh. “Alright, start mixing.”
They began doing as told. There were glass rods at the side, each one thick and heavy, and they began stirring using those rods.
They continued doing so for nearly an hour or so before all the water became murky white, not that different from diluted milk.
The four of them finally began stretching and one by one they all sighed.
“Let’s go. We have more to do tomorrow,” the leader said and left.
Ning waited for them all to go and took a small jar to fill the liquid with. He needed to report on this as well.
The next day, Ning reported everything he saw to Redaime explaining mostly what they had done. He included the part where they had cleansed the room of toxins but only mentioned it as having seen at the end.
He didn’t want Redaime to be too curious about how he was doing all of what he was doing. Redaime sent Ning back again to continue watching.
5 days had passed since the last time these people had sent Dust to anyone, and with only 10 days remaining before Cenn and Jay of City, 3 needed more Dust.
On the night of the 6th day, they gathered once again and continued making Dust.
This time, General Cord’s son had come to aid as well. They began by first pouring everything from the giant hole into a drum barrel that was filled with some sort of material to filter it.
When put into the drum barrel, there was another large drum barrel underneath to gather the dripping liquid. It was a simple filtration system, and they had about 20 different ones set up. Ning checked the liquid that was filtrated and realized that most of the leaves and larger particles had been left behind, giving a smooth liquid.
Once all the drums were filled, the leader gave the final order.
“Boil them!”
Ning was surprised when Karina pulled out her arm and began creating fire from her arm. There were materials under the drum barrels that could be burned and she began burning them.
Soon, a stable fire burned underneath the barrels, slowly boiling away all the liquid, leaving behind only the solid.
They worked all night for it, turning the entire room into a large sauna. A hole had been created at the top of the room, that led to the chimney on the house above them, but even that wasn’t helping much.
It appeared they were all already used to this as none of them seemed very bothered by what they were doing. They simply wiped their brows and kept working.
Finally, after a night of hard work, all of the barrels full of filtered liquid had turned to nothing but a pile of white matter at the bottom of the barrel.
There was no doubt that they had finally managed to create Dust.
All that needed to be done was mash the large chunks until they were pulverized, but that was
a simple task for the machinery they had at the corner of the room.
The leader got the others to quickly check the weight of all the Dust they had produced, and in total, there were over 500 kilograms of it in the 20 different barrels.
“Go home and sleep,” the leader said, yawning as he did. The full night of work had taken a
lot out of them. “We’ll come back here tonight and you’ll take them to City 8.”
He turned to the Carver and said, “Tell your Captain to send that other friend too. We need his help too. You cannot alone be the Carver on such an important trip.”
The Carver nodded.
“Go!”
Everyone began leaving.
Ning watched the Carver create an opening back to the top and smiled.
‘Captain, huh?’ he thought. ‘So there in fact are more involved here than just the General.’
He would have to gather some evidence for this as well.
