Chapter 1604: History of the Moon People
After nearly avoiding the ship that exploded before them, the ship that carried the final group of people was forced to make an emergency stop at one of the close by moons.
Ivowar was a small moon of irregular shape, large enough to have a decent amount of gravity, but not large enough to be spherical in shape. This was one of the early moons that humanity had visited and made their bases in, and had moved away from here after they found larger, sturdier moons to live in.
The people of this particular ship had landed on this moon and could no longer continue their journey along with the rest of the rocket ships at all.
There was an incredible amount of fuel that was required to just push them off the surface of the moon, and that was something they didn’t have at the moment.
Not just that, there just wasn’t any Spark in their general surrounding as most of it had been harvested to take along with them back to their Planet.
As a result, the people of that ship had to move back into the underground cities of the moon where they would have to prepare before they could go.
There were no more than just a few thousand people on that ship, so they easily settled onto the moon. They did what they could to survive, with only surviving on nothing but some food and air.
A single city was in use for the people, and even that was hard to keep running.
Spark fell from the sky continuously, and soon there was enough for normal life. With the amount of people they had, they even had enough to stay on the moon forever, regardless of whether it was night or day on the outside.
The people survived on that one moon and while they planned to go back to Mexol, the idea seemed more and more distant. Everything worked for them, and nobody wanted to go back at all.
Everyone was complacent with what they had.
And so, life flourished and the population increased once again. With increasing population came a greater workforce, but there also came a greater number of people to feed, clothe, to provide air.
And that number was all dependent on the amount of Spark harvested. Sure, there were many more people to work as harvesters, people with all sorts of powers being born every day. But there was only so much Spark that could gather on the surface of that moon.
And so, everyone realized that there was soon going to be Spark scarcity in the city. There wasn’t enough for everyone to survive, and people began dying left and right.
People began talking about ideas on what they could do. Few old people by then remembered about the other moons they used to go to live when the Spark was low.
They began telling the populace about that.
The notion that they should go to another moon soon emerged in the group, but when the idea was brought to their leaders, it was always shut down.
They always said how dangerous the other moons were and how they would run into the same problem there. The idea was rejected for years even as most of the people suffered and died.
Everyone was put on limited rations so as to not run out of Spark, using as little as they could to survive. However, they soon found out that was not the case for the ones in charge of them.
The leaders of their group, the ones that made decisions for them had loads of Spark hidden in their house, being used as they wanted. While people died outside, these old people lived a life of luxury with the Spark they had.
And when the people found out, there was a revolution.
The ones that felt pressed gathered to arms and raided the houses of their leaders, killing them all when the truth was confirmed. Each one of the leaders was killed one by one, and the ones that did so were led by the military that those same people had put in place.
Now, the Military ruled the city.
When the Military finally gained control over the city, they made the immediate decision to leave this place for one of the other moons where their cities were. They gathered as much Spark as they could and decided to leave Ivowar.
There was nothing more that they could get from this moon. They went to the surface where their ship was and took the nearly 30 thousand people away on that ship.
While doing so, they were unfortunately forced to leave with only humans and had to leave behind anything and everything that they owned.
They arrived at the next moon, Eo, and settled there for a few years. They stayed there for a few years before humanity was back on track and the population flourished once more. They realized that they needed to do more from there too at that point.
They moved to Starn next, and then to Urelon. By the time they moved to another moon, all of their history had been left behind, and the new generation knew nothing of the past, and the old generation chose not to pass the knowledge along.
It was when the humans were no longer in need of taking care of their own survival that they began delving their attention into other stuff. They found more Life Quartz and learned to replicate them.
They found the DODS system floating around from the wreckage of the one ship that had exploded. They found books, idols, and many other things that belonged to the previous humans, never understanding how and where they came from.
The knowledge that they had come to the moon to survive an apocalypse had long since been lost from the history of these people on the moon, and all that they knew about life at all was what they knew from their birth.
And so, two separate humanity existed in two separate regions, completely oblivious of either’s existence.
