Chapter 43: Field
Chapter 43: Field
Telekinesis. The ability to move objects through space by just using your thought. Many people fantasized about having telekinetic powers, but all of those were mostly just that, fantasy. Until now.
Ning was currently inhabiting a giant rock in the middle of open space. He had found this place on random teleportation and realized that this was quite a good location for farming something. He was tired of sending back food to the villagers and had decided to just leave a farm for them.
While doing that, he would also unlock everything else necessary for his own progress. A little more than a month had passed since he had decided to change his approach to the matter after sending the bird’s corpse to the villagers and had gathered a large amount of energy.
The first thing he had done when he gathered 250 Million energy was up the cap of the daily energy gain. It was now at 10 million per day. The next one was surprisingly at 10 billion instead of 2.5 Billion.
He had then spent some more days gathering a lot of energy. When he finally did, the thing he had done was buy the telekinesis skill when he reached 240 million energy. That was a few hours ago.
He was currently using Telekinesis to take large wooden spikes he had made use of air cutter from the trees all around him and placing them around the perimeter of this place. He didn’t want monsters to destroy the fields, so he was making fences with the wooden spikes by sending them high into the air and letting them drop.
In this way, he was halfway done with the spikes. It was at this point that his head started getting dizzy so he stopped.
‘God, that took a lot of mental strength,’ Ning thought. Telekinesis was a weird ability. It usage was a hybrid between the other techniques and was based around the weight of the object the host inhabited.
If the inhabited object had a higher mass than the target of telekinesis, then Ning would require mental energy to move it.
If the inhabited object had a lower mass than the target of telekinesis, then Ning would require energy to move it.
Both Mental energy and normal energy were expended depending on the mass of the target of telekinesis, regardless of the body he inhabited. So, right now, he was inside a giant rock, so that he would only have to use mental energy and not waste any of his actual energy.
Ning rested for a while and jumped into a small pebble to teleport to a nearby tree. He used Air Cutter to cut the trees into logs and cut them once more into spikes. He then used telekinesis to hurl the wooden spikes back into the field and himself teleported back to it. After jumping back into the giant rock, he decided to take a bit of rest.
He started thinking about what he could do next after this was done. ‘I can leave anytime I want, can’t I?’ he thought. ‘But I don’t want to leave these villagers just like that, hungry and all. I will have to help them defeat that demon or whatever it is.’
‘Sigh, I will have to get a body soon… but I will need one that won’t die very easily. Otherwise, there would be no point in making one. Maybe I should make one that can cultivate.’ He started to feel some sort of excitement.
‘Hey system, can any human body cultivate?’ he asked.
<No. You need a body with spiritual root to cultivate>
<Otherwise, it can only cultivate its body>
‘Hmm… I can’t do much with body cultivation. Honestly, it also looks so boring, doing the same thing all day long. I should just get a normal body that can cultivate. Alright, let’s get this spiritual root thingy. How much does it cost system?’ he asked.
<Spiritual roots span from 200 Million Energy to 500 Billion Energy>
‘Woah!! Why such a big gap?’ he asked.
<Depending on the quality of the spiritual root, it helps a cultivator in their journey of cultivation>
‘Sigh. Alright, I will buy these later then.’
Ning continued to rest for a while longer. After resting for a while, he was back to full mental capability and had gone back to continue with the task. By the end of the day, he had all of the wooden spikes planted around the perimeter of the field.
‘That’s enough for today,’ he thought and went to sleep.
Early in the morning, just as the cooldown for the cap was over, Ning woke up. As soon as he woke up, he started to suck in the Yin from the surroundings to convert it into heat energy. Unfortunately, he only managed to gain 2 million energy.
‘Shit, the area is too open and the sun clears away the yin too fast.’ He hopped into a little stone and teleported randomly deep into the jungle. Once he was at a location full of shades he continued the absorption once more.
The little stone had little surface area, so it took quite a while to gather the yin and convert it into heat. After a few minutes, he was finally done. ‘Alright, let’s go back and continue the work,’ he thought.
Once more, he teleported back to the field and took a sharp wooden log. Today he was going to make the actual field.
‘This would be so much easier if there was a tractor or even just a hoe. But I guess I gotta make do with this.’ He started to carve the ground using his mental strength. Carving the ground was much more taxing than simply just dropping the logs from a great height, so he had to take a lot more breaks than he would have hoped to.
However, with those breaks, he managed to carve the entire field, and by the end of the day, the field was ready for stuff to grow in.
‘Now I just need some water and seed.’
