Chapter 172 - Practical Alchemy Class
The next morning, Damien was in his classroom, waiting for his alchemy class to start. This time no one even looked in his direction or made mocking remarks blatantly for fear of a certain deadly and beautiful girl.
Even without considering that girl, they were now thoroughly convinced that Damien's strength was nowhere near his cultivation level. Even the disciple with the strongest cultivation in the class couldn't confidently say he could defeat Damien.
But they all felt that Damien was foolish to challenge Roy Clive despite the cultivation difference in them. They all knew that Damien found it hard enough to fight a Level One Earth Ethereal Realm cultivator.
So, how could he stand a chance against someone who is at the Sixth Level of the Earth Ethereal Realm?
However, some couldn't wait to see what would happen one month from now and how Valentina will react after Damien gets beaten up. They were also excited about the match between Valentina and Dennisa Rivers.
Even though Valentina was five levels weaker than Dennisa, some were a bit hopeful that Valentina won't badly lose as she was even able to thrash around Luke, who was three levels stronger than her.
But thinking about the bet the loser of the match has to follow, they wondered if Valentina would really do it and lose face.
The same was with the bet between Damien and Roy Clive. They were looking forward to seeing how someone as cocky as Damien would do everything Roy Clive says.
Will Roy Clive ask Damien to give his girlfriend to him? This was the question most had in their minds as even fools could see that Roy Clive had his sights on Valentina.
And will Valentina agree to it to save her boyfriend?
*RING!*
The bell rang, and all the disciples in the class settled down, looking forward to seeing their favorite teacher.
A sapphire-haired celestial figure entered gracefully within a few moments, and even the air in the room seemed to change in her presence.
Reva was dressed in her usual clothes, and she briefly said as her gaze passed through everyone, "Follow me."
The boys who had dreamy expressions on their faces were startled when they heard her.
Follow her? To where?
Most of them were confused about where she wanted them to follow her. But Damien guessed the reason.
He got up and walked towards her, "Let's go, teacher."
Reva didn't say anything. She turned around and walked outside as Damien followed her.
Seeing Damien and Reva leave, everyone frantically got up and followed them.
After walking for a minute, Reva and her disciples came in front of a door. She pressed her hand against the door as it slid towards the side.
Everyone was surprised when they saw a large mezzanine open floor coming into their sights. The borders were surrounded by lush bushes and beautiful flowers, giving off a pleasant and relaxing aura.
The view was good as well since it was an open floor, and one could even see the grand imperial palace from a distance.
Damien was impressed with the architecture and thought it was a good place to focus and learn when he saw twenty-five silver cauldrons arranged neatly.
He already knew today was going to be a practical session for the disciples to see if they are comfortable using their etheric fire or ethereal fire. But he never expected that they would conduct the practical sessions in such an open room.
No, it couldn't even be said as a room and looked more like a large balcony.
However, Damien wondered if he would be able to concoct pills without using his Fallen Flames. He hoped that his etheric flames would at least be good enough to make him pass.
Reva looked at her disciples and said formally, "Everyone, take your seats behind each cauldron. Today, as I said in the last class, we are going to try invoking our etheric fire and ethereal flames as well. I will examine each one of you and instruct you which flames you should use for concocting pills."
Damien knew that some had decent comprehension in Fire Laws, and at the same time, their etheric flames weren't bad as well. So, these people would be confused about which flames they should use to concoct pills in the long run and focus on the one best for them.
He speculated that Reva not only wanted to see whether everyone in her class can invoke flames but also to help those confused about which to use.
Damien sat in the front row towards aside and wondered whether Reva wanted them to control their flames inside the cauldron as well for today's class.
Damien knew that just because one was not born with a high affinity to Fire Laws doesn't mean they won't be able to comprehend it in the future. They could slowly develop their Fire elemental seed if their comprehension of Fire Laws is decent.
But of course, those who were blessed with a powerful Fire elemental seed would have a greater advantage, and they would be able to comprehend Fire Laws easily.
However, to concoct pills, one doesn't need to have high talent in Fire Laws or an excellent etheric fire unless they want to be a renowned alchemist.
Someone with satisfactory talent in either Fire Laws or etheric flames can easily concoct an Upper Tier Pill.
Damien knew his Fire elemental seed was almost non-existent, and nor did he try to comprehend Fire Laws.
"After making sure you are all comfortably seated, focus and try to invoke ethereal flames or etheric flames…whichever is more comfortable or easier," Reva said in an instructive tone.
Damien looked around to see how the other students were faring and wondered if he was the only one who was going to perform badly in the practical class.
He was reminded of his school days in his previous life when he didn't perform well in some subjects but felt better when Sofie would also perform the same as him just to keep him company.
At that time, he didn't know that Sofie would perform badly on her exams on purpose to keep him company.
But now, he wasn't afraid of being the only one who sucked in the class but was curious how the Elite disciples fared in the alchemy department.
"Damien, why are you looking at others? Focus on yourself and invoke your flames." Reva said with her gaze narrowed.
Damien cleared his throat and closed his eyes. He began focusing on his soul plane and isolated all the Pseudo-Origin Laws in his etheric spark. It took him a few minutes to carefully isolate them, and he wasn't surprised to see that his etheric sparks had turned brown in color.
Reva observed her disciples and saw that only a very few were concentrating hard to invoke their etheric flames while the majority quickly manifested flames using their Fire seed.
She wasn't surprised that Damien was trying to invoke his etheric flames as she had guessed someone with such profound knowledge in alchemy, including etheric flames, most probably used etheric flames to concoct pills.
She also knew that everyone in this class had at least tried to concoct a pill in their life as all the children of nobles would have to learn some alchemy as a mandatory subject during their childhood.
Some of the geniuses tried to show off their bright flames before Reva by hoping that she would be impressed by it. But their hopes were dashed when all she said was a single word, 'Good', without much change in her expressions.
And those who were only able to manifest average flames in Reva's standards only got a slight nod. They thought that their flames were exemplary, but they only realized now that in Reva's books, their flames were just average or good at best.
And those who managed to invoke their etheric flames after a few minutes also only got a nod from Reva though her nod was more approving than the others who manifested average and simple flames.
After all, those who managed to manifest their etheric fire showed more potential than one who manifested average flames.
Everybody had finished manifesting their flames, and only Damien was left as his eyes were still closed.
Most watched in anticipation as they thought that his etheric flames must be extraordinary for him to take so much time, while others were already feeling jealous that Damien was going to impress Reva again with his alchemy prowess.
But when Damien finally opened his eyes, everyone had a baffled expression on their faces, and even Reva's eyes creased when she saw the flame in Damien's hand.
