Chapter 546 - Chaos In The Battlefield
In each of the three sides of the battlefield, the soldiers of the imperial army had already put up their best ethereal barrier possible within the given time, while the regiments on the fourth side had already been destroyed by Damien's first lightning tornado.
*Crackle!*
Thunderous crackles resounded from each of the tornadoes as they struck the defensive barriers the imperial army had put up desperately.
*RUMBLE!*
As the lightning tornadoes violently collided against the barriers, the earth shook as shockwaves rippled in every direction, inflicting cracks on the barriers.
But within a few moments, all the defensive barriers began to get cleaved by the tornadoes before getting shredded apart and having their ethereal energy get sucked into the tornadoes.
Most would wonder why a single Damien was able to wreak havoc upon such a large imperial army, especially when generals and commanders at the Heaven Ethereal Realm were taking part in creating defensive barriers.
But the answer was quite simple, which Damien speculated using common knowledge since water's weakness was lightning as they would definitely amplify his attacks upon contact.
Otherwise, the defensive barriers the imperial army had put up would have been enough to even absorb a few attacks from a cultivator at the Early Level of the Profound Ethereal Realm, especially since the commanders were involved as well in putting up the barriers.
And since nobody here, especially the men in the imperial army, had ever dealt with cultivators possessing the lightning elemental seed, they were taken by surprise and only realized things too late. They had no idea that their own elemental seed would be at a huge disadvantage against him to such a degree.
Even when some of them tried to launch some water attacks at Damien, the lightning tornadoes' powerful suction force got attracted towards them and sucked them in faster than it should.
This only made them even more afraid of attacking in fear of attracting the attention of the demonic tornadoes of lightning.
Ruthren already knew how devastating Damien's power of lightning could be, and that was precisely why he tried to monitor and keep him close. And the only reason he did that was because of Yohr's orders.
But now, he regretted not killing him earlier if only the situation was different. He knew even his own water element would be at a huge disadvantage once Damien grew even more powerful, and that was one of the things that worried him the most.
However, he wasn't even given the time to think as Irene was attacking him aggressively coupled with the experts from below combining their attacks and targeting him as well.
It was as if all of them were going all out, though Ruthren was still unfazed and wasn't even injured at all as his monstrous water dragon was swallowing all the attacks for him but was too busy to counter-attack.
His imperial army was so busy dealing with Damien that they were unable to provide support to their own emperor.
Irene couldn't help but witness one of the biggest shocks in her life as she looked down since a seventeen-year-old boy was able to single-handedly wreck chaos among the most powerful imperial army in the Rising Sun Continent. This was a feat no one was ever capable of doing so in history until now.
She couldn't help but feel even happier and proud that her granddaughter loved him and couldn't help but dream about their future.
Reva already wanted to join Damien and help him fight the imperial army since he was doing everything on his own for her only, but her soul plane's injuries were holding her back.
But seeing how the imperial army was getting annihilated by Damien's bone-chilling lightning tornadoes, she felt that he didn't need her help astonishingly.
"This is a nightmare!"
"We have to retreat, or we will get ripped to pieces!"
"AAHH!! SAVE ME!!"
"NOOOO!!!"
The men of the imperial army were letting out cries and wails of despair, which they never had to before during their time in the imperial army since nobody was qualified to make them do so. At best, they only had to sacrifice a little to destroy their enemies but what was happening now was no different than a one-sided slaughter.
The commanders obviously wanted to save their men by telling them to retreat, but they couldn't do that without their emperor giving the green signal. And simply abandoning the battlefield would be no different than suicide since the emperor would definitely lash out the cruelest punishment for desertion, and even their families might have to face some punishments as well.
This was the only thing that was keeping the men of the imperial army from running away to avoid the dark lightning tornadoes.
Around a whopping 100,000 men were already shredded and ripped to pieces by Damien's terrifying jet-black lightning tornadoes, and they were still continuing to devour and rip apart the soldiers, hundreds of them within every second!
Even the Forsaken experts couldn't help but get distracted momentarily seeing such a shocking development. For the first time, they even felt that they could defeat this entire army only if dealing with the Xeton Emperor was not so hard.
"This ends now!" Ruthren couldn't just stand watching his imperial army get destroyed like this as he manifested another water dragon smaller than his original one and sent it towards Damien.
Damien had not been standing idle the entire time, but instead, there was a jet-black lightning bolt in his hand that was taking the shape of a sword, five meters long!
"Damien, look out!" Reva and Irene called out at the same time as the fifteen-meter-long water dragon headed towards Damien to break through the barrier and swallow him.
Reva was already running towards Damien to shield him with her own body, even if that would mean exacerbating her injuries.
But Damien wasn't surprised that Ruthren got desperate to attack him, and instead, he smirked as he let his bone-chilling lightning bolt shoot towards the incoming water dragon.
