Chapter 459 - Troublemaker
Chapter 459: Troublemaker
The cheat puckered his lips and wanted to protest. But he knew his protest would be invalid, so he dared not protest. He could only behave himself and take up the horsewhip and rush the carriage onwards and out of the city.
“What is your name?” Ling Chuxi asked.
“Jiang Wuhen. Did you guys not hear me earlier on?” said the cheat looking very disappointed. But he reckoned that anyone who had listened to all the titles he mentioned at the beginning would naturally neglect mention of his name at the end.
“It is a good name, right? When my father gave me this name, I boasted that he had given me a good name. Once you hear this name, you will know that this is the name of a genius who knows everything from the heavens above to the earth below and who is well versed in playing the qin, doing calligraphy and even painting, right?” Jiang Wuhen said triumphantly. It wasn’t a certain if Jiang Wuhen’s father had named him too late or if Jiang Wuhen was that sensible at such an early age, but according to logic, Jiang Wuhen should not have been able to boastof such a thing at that time. No matter which possibility it was, this Jiang Wuhen was certainly another weirdo.
“I only know that your writing is very… ugly,” said Ling Chuxi, giving him a blow without any mercy.
Jiang Wuhen pursed his mouth again and placed the banner that he used to make his living aside.
“Oh, right. I have not asked for both your names.” As he was driving the carriage, Jiang Wuhen forgot the blow he was dealt very quickly and threw it beyond the clouds and asked his passengers their names.
“Chuxi,” said Ling Chuxi. “And Yichen,” answered Ling Yichen. They did not want to cause any further troubles.
“Chuxi and Yichen. Why are your names so familiar?” said Jiang Wuhen contemplatively.
“There are many people with the same names under the sky. Your name is the most popular. You are already the two hundred and fiftieth person I have met with the name Jiang Wuhen,” retorted Ling Chuxi with a face full of disdain.
“What? Two hundred and fifty? That many? Are you sure? No way!” wailed Jiang Wuhen with a look of hurt on his face.
“Less nonsense and more haste,” urged Ling Chuxi with a sneer.
“Yes, yes, yes.” Jiang Wuhen curled his lips, behaved himself and sped up the pace of the carriage.
The carriage headed towards the city gates at a pace that was neither a fast nor slow. The short journey seemed to be quite calm, but after this, Ling Chuxi found out that this fellow called Jiang Wuhen was totally a troublemaker.
“Look, look. Isn’t it that fellow? The fellow who conned us the last time.” Just as the carriage was exiting the city gates, a group of gamblers saw Jiang Wuhen and yelled in surprise.
“F*ck, how dare a conman appear at my gambling den?! Cripple him!” roared one of the men before a group of people started chasing after the carriage while carrying tables, chairs, stools and knives.
Jiang Wuhen was seriously speeding up the carriage by now. Once he looked at such a scene, his expression suddenly changed and he lashed the whip to hasten the horse. With a crisp crack of the whip, the horse pulling the cart gave out a long neigh, raised its hooves and thundered out of the city. As the horse was galloping wildly, Jiang Wuhen was still mumbling, “I’m going to die. I’m going to die. My enemies have caught up to me.”
Soon, the people from the gambling den saw that they could not catch up anymore, so they flung out their arms and threw the furniture as hard as they could towards the carriage with their bare hands.
Ling Yichen shook his head at the sight. With a wave of his palm, the tables, chairs and stools burst into pieces in the air. A knife that was thrown at the carriage also flew right back towards the gambling den people and directly struck the wooden door right next to them, its embedded blade quivering non-stop.
After they saw the skills of whoever was in the carriage, the gambling den people no longer dared to give chase. They muttered a few unhappy curses and then did nothing further.
Ling Chuxi and Ling Yichen could not help but look at Jiang Wuhen. Besides going everywhere to swindle and cheat, it seems that this fellow had also stirred up quite some trouble in odd places. Both of them did not know that this was merely the beginning.
“Hehehe. I am not a conman, really. It just that they were not as skilled in the art of gambling,” explained Jiang Wuhen without much confidence as he wiped off his cold sweat.
“In other words, other people’s conning skills are not as good as yours, right?” retorted Ling Chuxi as she rolled her eyes discourteously at Jiang Wuhen.
