Chapter 480 - Calmly Watching Tragedy
Chapter 480: Calmly Watching Tragedy
“All right, then. I will go and get Jiang Wuhen…” said Ling Yichen. He had just finished speaking when a wail which sounded like a pig being slaughtered drifted in from outside. It sounded like it was Jiang Wuhen’s voice.
“What is happening to him now?” asked Ling Chuxi with a frown. There was something like this that happening to Jiang Wuhen every day from time to time. Their ears were almost bleeding from the constant sounds of chaos generated by Jiang Wuhen.
“Chuxi! Help! Help me! Ah! Ah! Ah! Ah! Ah!” Jiang Wuhen’s extremely miserable cry drifted over from somewhere outside. Then came Su Xiu’er’s angry shouts and the sound of hurried footsteps pattering further and further away. It was obvious that Jiang Wuhen had run off into the distance after being chased by Su Xiu’er.
“That idiot,” sighed Ling Chuxi as she stood up and walked out. ‘I shall go watch a good show. Oh, no. I mean, to save someone.’
After walking out of the backyard into the courtyard, she happened to see Su Yizhi coming out of the houseas well.
“Where did that little brat run off to?” pondered Su Yizhi aloud, somewhat perplexed.
“There,” said Ling Chuxi, pointing towards the direction beyond the courtyard in which the voices and sounds earlier on had disappeared.
A few other people walked out of the courtyard to see what the commotion was. Jiang Wuhen could only be seen standing at the edge of a mountain cliff which was not too high but definitely not too low either. Su Xiu’er stood in front of him with a cold expression. There were many people watching the exciting proceedings from below. Of course, Ling Chuxi and Ling Yichen also walked over to watch with calm expressions. They folded their arms and began to watch the show.
“Xiu’er, don’t come closer. If you come any closer, I will jump,” said Jiang Wuhen, standing at the edge of the cliff and trembling in terror. But wait, what was with that half-eaten meat bun in his hand?
“Hmph,” scoffed Su Xiu’er as she glared at him and continued stepping forward.
“Sister Xiu’er, why not just forget it? It’s only just a meat bun,” pipped up a little girl softly from behind Su Xiu’er as she tugged at the hem of Su Xiu’er’s clothes. “If you let him jump off this cliff just because of a meat bun, it doesn’t seem like that would be too good.”
After Ling Chuxi had heard these words, it was as if a huge sweatdrop as big as the waterfalls at Lushan slid down the back of her head. This Jiang Wuhen was really a high-level weirdo. He actually snatched a little girl’s meat bun, and that was why he was being chased by so many people!
“Don’t come closer! Dunph cofmhh krrlosef!” mumbled Jiang Wuhen unclearly as he stuffed the remaining half of the meat bun into his mouth. Once he finished the bun, he continued, “Now, this bun is gone. How about I pay you back for the others? I’ll pay you back with grilled meat. Grilled meat! Aha! Chuxi is here. The meat grilled by Chuxi is unparalleled under the heavens. It is super delicious, for real.”
Su Xiu’er and the little girl turned their heads to look at Ling Chuxi. Ling Chuxi raised her eyebrows lightly and said very innocently, “Who is this guy? I don’t know him.”
“Chuxi, how can you be like this? Have you forgotten our friendship back in the days when we went through life and death together? Have you forgotten that you did not regard your own safety and turned back to save me?” cried Jiang Wuhen dramatically as he laughed out bitterly.
“Please, beat him up. Do you need any help?” offered Ling Yichen who was watching calmly from the side initially. When he heard such nonsense, he could no longer remain a calm spectator anymore and offered his services coolly to Su Xiu’er.
“Yes!” answered Su Xiu’er resolutely.
What happened next of course was that Jiang Wuhen’s cries that sounded akin to a pig being slaughtered echoed continuously once more between the valleys for a long time.
Ling Chuxi turned away calmly, ignoring the tragedy behind her and left.
…
Rejuvenation Valley’s surroundings remained as peaceful and serene as it always was. If one wasn’t told, one wouldn’t think that this little village, which looked like paradise, was home to the Su Family, one of the three bloodlines of the Golden Pill Sect, which in turn used to be known as one of the five great sects.
Ling Chuxi sat in the quiet courtyard and flipped through a yellowing book. The book contained a part of the Golden Pill Sect’s medical skills which had been kept alive by the Su Family for years and years.
After the initiation ceremony a few days ago, Ling Chuxi was now a disciple of Resurrection Hall. Of course, she was also a disciple of the Golden Pill Sect at the same time. Resurrection Hall was just a form of address used by the Su Family as a cover. For the first time in ten years, Resurrection Hall had officially recruited a disciple of a different family name.
