Shota’s Isekai NTR Adventure

Chapter 2259: Ascending (1)

“A national holiday has been declared for the funeral of the pope.”

That was the headline that shocked all of humanity.

After all, everyone had thought that the pope would live forever.

With the way that he always had that youthful appearance, it really didn’t seem like he aged a day in his life. Though those that knew him knew that he did age, or at least up to a certain point.

Though he had lived more than a hundred years, he still looked like a middle aged man.

So it was no wonder people thought he would live forever.

It was just that his death did come too suddenly for people to process it.

One day he looked like he could live for another hundred years or so, then he suddenly passed away the next day. It really wasn’t something that people could explain with how suddenly it had happened.

Especially Percival who was watching over everything.

“I’m clearly dead, so why do I still exist? Don’t people return to the embrace of god when they pass on?”

Percival watched the world below him, watching everything that happened from high up above like some kind of bird. But he knew that he wasn’t able to interact with that world at all.

He had tried the moment that he woke up in this place, but he always found that there was something that stopped him. It was as if there was some kind of barrier that stopped him from reaching down into the human world.

Not only that, it felt like this place was in a completely different dimension with how it felt being here.

The only thing that did comfort him was that there was something familiar about this place.

It was like the sensation that he felt when he used the relic he received from god.

If it wasn’t for that, then he certainly wouldn’t be that calm watching his own funeral.

After all, even his body was being lifted and paraded around.

Normal people really wouldn’t be able to wrap their heads around such a thing. It was only because there was this calming presence that he was able to calm his mind and accept his own death.

The problem now was…

“What am I supposed to do here?” Percival said while looking around.

Even if he accepted the fact that he was dead, he wasn’t the kind of person to just sit around and do nothing.

When he was still alive, Percival had quite a few responsibilities as the pope.

But even beyond that, he was someone that really couldn’t sit still when he was just doing nothing. He was quite the workaholic, to the point where the people that he worked with were even a bit afraid of him.

He was the kind of person that would just sink into a task that he was doing and forget about everything else. He was the kind of person that would drag someone down with him until they collapsed from exhaustion.

So it really was a strange feeling to sit here without anything to do.

At the same time, it wasn’t as if there was much to gain from exploring this place.

As far as the eye could see, there was nothing but emptiness.

It was so empty that it was hard to believe that there was anything that even existed in this place.

The only real thing that he could do was stare down at the world beneath him and watch as the people celebrated his life.

But eventually, Percival couldn’t help thinking to himself, “I wonder if there is some way that I can interact with them.”

At this, there was this faint glow that appeared around his hand.

When that glow appeared around his hand, there was something that appeared in the sky in the human world. It was a beam of light that broke through the clouds and fell down on the body that was being moved through the procession.

It fell down right on Percival’s body that was being lifted high up.

The moment that this happened, everyone seemed to fall to their knees and pray.

Seeing this, Percival couldn’t help cursing as he knew he messed up.

After all, what the people were praying to was the god that they worshipped.

They thought that this beam of light was a sign from their god that Percival was being blessed by them for a life well lived.

When Percival saw people bowing to the blessing that he accidentally bestowed upon himself, it really made him feel strange. But at the same time, he could tell that there was something that was coming from them.

It was as if there were these small connections that were being made between him and the people that were praying.

As they prayed, he could feel the power surging inside of him.

From this sensation, it wasn’t hard for Percival to figure out what was happening and he felt like he was doing something blasphemous. He was taking the place of the god that he worshipped.

Which was why Percival quickly pulled his hand back and made that beam of light disappear.

Once that was over, Percival moved very carefully in this place.

It was as if he was afraid that anything that he did might cause something that couldn’t be taken back. After all, he still had no idea what this place was and what he had become.

Once he reached a certain point, he couldn’t help falling to his knees and praying, “Your holiness, please show me a sign.”

It didn’t seem like there was a response at first, but then there was something that suddenly appeared.

Percival couldn’t help being stunned seeing this, but there was a part of him that was also filled with joy seeing this.

After all, he could feel the sensation that was coming from this thing that appeared in front of him.

Once again, it was the same sensation that he felt from the relic that he used, only it was a sensation that was stronger than anything he felt before.
