278 To catch a bear
“Two weeks… I don’t know if I have two weeks. That was just one Ancient level powerhouse. If two or three more join in the fray, together they would be able to force me out of stealth simply by laying waste to the entire state.” Elliot mused.
“Then get out of the state and hole up somewhere. After two weeks, with the ultimate moves of The Broken Dragon, you will definitely be able to hold your ground against Ancients. When they are not in their soul form, of course.” Gilgamar urged him.
“Soul… form?” Elliot asked.
Gilgamar sighed, and proceeded to give Elliot a short explanation about Ancients.
“I see. Then even with The Broken Dragon, I still can’t go head to head with an Ancient level warrior. I don’t have any soul attacks or even soul defensive techniques.” Elliot said.
“Indeed. Unless you can somehow find a way to protect your soul, you will not be able to win in a fair fight against an Ancient level warrior.” Gilgamar stated.
“Then if that’s the case, I won’t go head to head against them.” Elliot decided. “I will just sneak attack them and kill them. I just need to be able to deal enough damage to kill them in a hit or two.”
“It is very risky. If your attack fails to kill your target, as you say, he could simply obliterate the entire state and bring you down with it. Not even you, with your heaven defying defense, would be able to withstand an all out attack from an Ancient.” Gilgamar warned Elliot seriously. “That previous attack is but a fraction compared to what he could unleash at full strength!”
He couldn’t help but shiver lightly.
He would not be able to do it.
His energy may have advanced in quality and have become like a rock compared to the water of all the energy states of the warriors of the known universe.
But deep within the ocean, under high enough pressure, even a rock could crumble into nothing!
He needed to be a very, very, very big rock in order to resist the pressure of the deep blue ocean that was the energy volume of an ancient level powerhouse.
Suddenly…
BOOOMMM!!
The ocean that he was just thinking about suddenly appeared!! pᴀɴᴅᴀ ɴoᴠᴇʟ
Elliot immediately initiated his full Red Dragon Transformation to resist the crushing aura!!
At the same time, he blinked away from the pressure as quickly as he could.
“Hmmm? I thought I sensed a ripple of space energy here earlier.” Came a slightly confused voice quickly fading in the distance as Elliot repeatedly cast his blink to escape the horrific pressure.
After a full minute of escaping, Elliot could finally feel the pressure ease to the point where he could undo his dragon transformation.
But he didn’t do it.
Just a single minute in close proximity to the Ancient’s fully unleashed aura had already injured his body gravely!
His scales were cracked in many places, and he could feel his internal organs bleeding profusely.
He needed to heal first before he could undo his transformation. ρꪖꪕᦔꪖꪕꪫꪣꫀꪶ
Elliot took out a couple of the highest grade healing potions the system could produce and chugged them down.
However, his vitality was already so strong that the healing potions’ effects were rather minimal. Elliot took out and drained five more, then another five more before his internal organs finally stopped bleeding.
“Gah! Fighting against ancients at my current is truly like a baby going up against a ferocious general!” Elliot gasped heavily as the pain within his body gradually subsided.
“Every power level is separated by such a huge chasm! Everytime I reach the peak of one power level, I meet with enemies at the next level and I end up being completely powerless!
This is extremely frustrating!
Damn it!! Damn it all!!!!
I want power!!! Give me POWER!!!!”
Elliot roared out with all of his heart, his strength and his soul!!
As a dragon with universe-level lofty aspirations, for him to be at such a frustrated state was truly saying a lot!
He really, really had enough of running away!
But against such a powerful enemy, what else could he do but run away?
At that moment, Elliot finally remembered something.
“Wait a minute! Don’t I have Teardrop of the Gods? The material that could be made into soul-attack resistant armor? If I have that…
Red! Come out!!” Elliot shouted.
“Yes, yes. What’s going on Pip? Why are you so flustered like a chicken who just discovered that it’s a chicken and not a phoenix?” Red said loudly as he materialized next to Elliot.
He couldn’t actually see Elliot because he had his stealth ring on, but he could sense him through his contract.
“Yeah? You would know exactly how that feels, wouldn’t you?” In his state of frustration, Elliot held nothing back with his words!
“Oh oh, touche little pip. Touche! Hahaha!” Red laughed out loud.
“Enough. Here. Tell me what you need to turn this into an armor set for me.” Elliot growled.
“Teardrop of the Gods.” Red sighed in awe as he beheld the wondrous material once more. “As I mentioned, this is something only an ancient level Elemental Spitter can deal with. I am very, very far away from being able to do anything about this.”
“There must be another way. It doesn’t have to be perfect!” Elliot refused to believe that there were no shortcuts!
“Well, technically, all I need to forge this material into armor is soul power. If I am able to access soul power in sufficient amounts, I will be able to grind the material down, combine it with other rare materials already in my disposal, and then forge an armor out of it. But to get soul power, you will need to somehow get your hands on an Ancient level powerhouse…” Red said with a helpless shake of his head.
“So to gain the tools to capture the bear, we need to first capture a bear…” Elliot said calmly. “As crazy as it sounds, I have a plan.”
