Spending My Retirement In A Game

Chapter 203 Bigger Tools

While Caria and Melissa were now practicing to create more pure-mana spells and skill for themselves, the group finally reached the mining town. It was just a quiet small village in itself, and the surrounding area wasn't all that dangerous, so they didn't have as many guards or as thick of walls as usual.

Soon enough, Eisen woke up his apprentices, grabbed some steel and some tools, and stepped outside. And once he asked a farmer that was working the field nearby if he could use an empty plot of land for a little bit, Eisen took out his staff and created three of his magic forges and turned to his apprentices.

"Alright, these forges will stay there for a good while. What you three will do now is make personalized tools for yourselves. For today, I'd say make a pickaxe and a shovel. You can use this steel and wood here. I'll be working on something as well, and once I'm finished, I'll be going to the mines for a while. Come join me there once you're done as well. Oh, but eat something first. There's a little bit of food in the carriage." Eisen told them immediately before the three slowly nodded their heads while tiredly making their way back to the carriage to eat, as Eisen started playing around with something in preparation for his work. The first thing he did was try and activate his Fullbody enchantment without transformation since he didn't want to turn into his demonic form right here. However, when he noticed that this didn't work and instantly began damaging him since the enchantment was carved into his flesh, Eisen sighed loudly and activated his transformation.

He explained the situation to the farmer, who was currently the only one that saw him in his natural form so far and just wanted to make sure that nobody got worried, scared, or confused. Of course, Eisen also made sure that the farmer knew about what was about to happen. Eisen increased his size since he would be working on tools for this current Giant-Form. He might also make some for his shrunken-down form at some point, although he really didn't see a reason for that for now.

So instead, the old man created a fourth Forge and got to work, although not with his increased size, since he first needed to make something else — a larger hammer. Using the Flame-Of-The-Earth Mythril from his carriage, Eisen then began to shape that magic silver into a copy of his hammer, just with an increased size of 50% into each direction.

It took a while, due to the shock that the metal returned to him with every impact, but soon enough, Eisen created a more massive hammer for himself to use. And not just that, while he was at it, Eisen even created a new hammer altogether for him to use with his regular size. Once he was done with that, his apprentices started working on their own tools as well, so it was relatively good timing. But Eisen first spent some time looking at the description of his new Mythril hammers after creating the handles out some quite durable wood he had in the carriage.

"Hmm, I see… Well, either is pretty good, anyway. The requirements are just within my current range as well." Eisen slowly nodded before swiftly increasing his size as well as one of the magic forges in front of him, before he turned around to look at his Apprentices.

"Alright you three, get to work now, alright? If the item you make isn't at least of High Quality, re-make it." He strictly told them before they nodded their heads and immediately got to work, while Eisen himself did the same.

It wouldn't make much sense for the shovel, but Eisen swiftly chose to make the pickaxe out of his elemental Mythril as well, which would hopefully help further with the 'crushing' enchantment that he would place on it, just like he did with his other, regular-sized pickaxe.

Mythril was excellent for defense and blunt weaponry or tools, or when you wanted a shock to be stronger and travel further than usual like with the pickaxe, but it wasn't the best metal for bladed items. Maybe one of the four metals that Eisen would need for the box would be better suited for it. But until then, he would keep using steel instead, as long as he didn't find anything better.

For a little while, Eisen then worked on the metal parts for a Pickaxe, a Shovel, and an Axe for his increased-size form. At some point, he could maybe create tools that could change their size as well, but that would take enchanting every little part of it with the size-change ability separately, on top of needing something that would let him control it properly. And that would end up quite unstable and may reduce the quality and durability of the materials since only crystals or gems could get ability-enchantments placed on them without any worry.

Once Eisen ranked his enchanting up some more, he would probably be able to put this plan into action, but until then, he didn't mind making multiple tools. He could probably smelt the metal down again, after all.

After completing all the metal parts, Eisen carved the enchantments into each in his regular size, since that would make it much easier to do, considering that he only had a small needle. On top of that, the smaller needle would make details easier to carve.

Soon enough, Eisen completed the metal parts, and he expertly carved the wooden handles out of some durable wood as well, swiftly finishing the over-sized tools.

With a satisfied smile, Eisen placed the ax into the carriage, since he wouldn't need it for now, and de-summoned his forge before looking at Rouge and Parc with his tools over his shoulders, increased in size but with his transformation deactivated. He actually felt quite comfortable this large, and spending a lot of time in this form may give him a 'familiarity' benefit or something that would let him become even larger without ranking his giant racial-skill up.

He took a look at the mines earlier, and they were more than large enough for him to walk around comfortably. Either way, he looked over at his apprentices and smiled.

"Rouge, Parc, you two enchant your tools as well. The Pickaxe with 'Crushing' and the shovel with 'Burrow.' You can do something similar with the same effect, or if you think you know about a better enchantment, go ahead." Eisen told them and then turned to Koro with a stern expression. "And you better not even touch an enchanting needle, got it? If you do, you won't be my apprentice when we get back to Handor." Eisen told him before Koro slowly nodded his head.

"I got you…" He muttered out and continued with his work, more determined than before. Then, Eisen looked at the others in his group, including Komer who had woken up just a bit ago. "Kiron, can you come with me and help me out with some of the heavy labor? In the meantime, Bree, please take care of Caria and Melissa and watch the guys here and make sure they don't do anything dangerous, alright?" Eisen asked of them, and they swiftly nodded, before Komer and Sky looked at the old man.

"In the meantime, we'll prepare everything for farming. Caria is surely going to be able to help us prepare the soil as well, right?" Komer suggested, and Eisen nodded his head as he looked at the small Myconid. "I'm sure she could. Do you think so, Caria?" He asked her with a smile, and the little girl nodded her head and crossed her arms happily. "Yup! Caria is super duper good at that!"

"Thank you then. Alright, Kiron, let's get going. I'll tell you about what I mentioned before on the way." The old man said with a smile as he and Kiron made their way toward the mines that were a little bit of a walk outside of town.

A few minutes later, Eisen turned over toward Kiron, who chose to carry Eisen's regular-sized tools so that he could actually directly help out in the mines, while the old man smiled. "You know, I had a pretty interesting dream."

Surprised, Kiron looked up at Eisen, curious as to what he was talking about, "And what did you dream of, M'Lord?"

After lightly grinning, Eisen looked back at the half-dragon next to him and explained. "Well, literally every great god in the existence of this world, including your father. Oh, and it wasn't actually a dream, but rather that the other originals and I were summoned to them together." The Old Giant explained, which quite soon caused the half-dragon to stumble up and nearly trip.

"M-M'Lord, what?! You met with my father?" He asked surprised, stopping in his tracks, and Eisen laughed lowly. "Yes, I did. And I've got something to tell you about, which is actually pretty important. It turns out, I did find your father's egg, he hatched out of it, and I became his father. Which means that I'm your grandfather."

Quietly, Kiron dropped the Pickaxe and Shovel that he was carrying and stared blankly ahead of him, before then looking at Eisen.

"…I… am strongly conflicted… Am I to call you M'Lord, or Grandfather…?" He asked before Eisen laughed again and continued walking, prompting the half-dragon to grab the tools again and rush to follow him.

"I would prefer 'Grandfather,' to be honest. But it's your choice. Just think about it for a while if you want." Eisen told his draconic NPC grandson, before the two of them continued walking toward the mine that they were coming closer and closer to with each step, while Eisen kept telling Kiron a little bit about his encounter with the gods, in particular with Trygan, including the way that Kiron's father spoke about him in an incredibly loving manner, with the same expression that Eisen had when talking about his own children.
