Chapter 217 Blood Nurturing
At the end of the day, nobody seemed to understand the reason behind the creation of the Brawl event.
Everyone was of the belief that the Master of the Guild had wanted to nurture the strongest beings in the Shalivra valley and take them under his wing.
However, was that really the case?
Kyle began to doubt this as he clearly saw something nobody else could sense.
It was unnerving to see how the blood-drenched surroundings was nurturing the Mutated Licara flower with the specific nutrition that could only be found in blood!
The blood-red hue around the flower was slowly becoming thicker, denser, and purer.
Knowing how it looked like if a development path of a being was being nurtured, Kyle couldn't help but frown deeply.
'Nurturing new prodigies to take under his wing? What a joke… The Guildmaster is merely throwing some treasures that are useless to him as a bait to create a massacre for the sake of receiving much bigger benefits!'
Right now, Kyle was not attacked being attacked by anyone.
? He was standing in the middle of the battlefield, on top of several large logs, turning him into the best target for everyone to attack.
Yet, oddly enough, nobody could even think about attacking him, even though everybody's eyes had been fixated on him, the biggest attraction in the entire Brawl.
His countdown was the lowest, he was alone, and his cultivation base was merely at the Low Vitae stage.
However, even then, nobody dared to even approach him with the thought of snatching the mutated Licara flower seed he was holding.
Instead of doing something like that some individuals were even increasing the distance from Kyle as the eerie sensation around him began to increase.
What Kyle didn't notice was that the long period he had spent in the Razkadan castle with nothing but the essence of death was currently affecting him.
Everyone around him felt that death itself was lurking around him, ready to reap the lives of the beings in his surroundings who would dare near him.
If Beatrice were to get these vibes from Kyle, even she would be quite shocked.
After all, what he was currently releasing was something similar to the Aura of Death that was naturally released by Undeads.
It was an inferior version, and, in fact, not an aura, but more like an intent he had comprehended during his stay in the Razkadan castle.
But even Kyle didn't know about the intent's existence, and he was not even close to figuring it out as he was fully focused on the mutated Licara flower.
'Is it a Blood nurturing?' The more he thought, the more sense it made to him and he wondered what changes this nurturing would bring to the mutated Licara flower.
He doubted that it would just enhance the effects of the ordinary Licara flower seeds because that would be too simple.
And the entire situation was, by no means, ordinary, or easy to understand!
After some time, Kyle regained his senses, and he lifted his head to look straight through the clouds.
Staring in the direction at which the Quetzalcoatl was circling around behind the cover of the clouds, he could only sigh deeply before shaking his head.
'There is nothing I can do, either way…I should just focus on myself…right?'
Kyle was not sure if he was doing the right thing, but it was not as if anyone had been forced to enter the large dome.
Every single participant of the Brawl had entered it of his or her own free will.
With that in mind, there was not even a reason for him to think about the Guildmaster's real reason to provide treasures.
He should just reap as many benefits as possible for now, pursue his own goals while allowing others to do the same as long as they didn't intervene in his plans.
After giving this a thought, Kyle looked down towards the ground once again before taking a deep breath as he stepped forward.
The center of the dome was currently overflowing with thousands of Cultivators at the Vitae stage causing a bloodbath and a massacre of the scale and extent that had not been seen in thousands of years.
And all of this was going on to claim seven out of nine mutated Licara flower seeds which were located there.
Following that there were also quite a few other treasures that had been picked up with Cultivators fighting to become their owner.
Through this, Kyle clearly understood that not only the mutated Licara flower seeds were of high value, but also the other treasures.
It was obvious, but also something he didn't expect.
After all, the Licara flower seeds were something that could permanently enhance the cultivation talent of someone.
But it was great if a large number of Cultivators would focus on procuring cultivation manuals, and other treasures rather than the Licara flower seeds.
It would allow him to make use of the chaos, and escape the center of the dome.
In less than half an hour, he found a spot that was nearly void of Cultivators.
There were only a handful of cultivators, and all of them were either heavily injured, or about to collapse due to exhaustion.
Taking advantage of their situation and helplessness, Kyle decided to take the safest possible path.
Fastening his mask with the use of his wind affinity on his face tightly, he materialized enough wind currents inside his mask to breathe properly.
Afterward, he advanced towards the exhausted and injured Cultivators from the various races.
Kyle was ready to knock all of them out if need be and prevent them from becoming dangerous for his goal of avoiding all kinds of powerful beings for the next two hours.
The countdown to leave the dome with the mutated Licara flower seed was barely two hours.
As such, even the injured and exhausted participants were staring at him with a glint of anger, jealously, and even hatred.
They wanted to be the same as Kyle, who had procured a treasure that could change their fate, enabling him to become an extraordinary youth of the current generation, and turn into heavenly prodigies.
Yet, only Kyle seemed to be able to make this possible as he was the first one to reach such a low countdown wit the Licara flower seed.
Other than him, only the Nasga he had spared earlier was able to leave.
He took a tome with him, leaving behind another treasure which he had initially wanted to take with him.
While the number of Brawl participants was thinning over time, the number of treasures that left the dome remained nearly the same.
It caused every single Warlord, Elder, higher authority and Master of the different races to frown deeply.
Nobody had expected such a bloody massacre when they had first heard about the Brawl.
The other events of the Guild's Master had always been dedicated to promote the guild, allowing talented cultivators to become a disciple of his organization, and to become unparalleled amongst their own race.
However, right now, death was the only thing they were able to perceive.
Whether it were their own semi-prodigies or the strongest prodigies of other races, everyone was dying, just like moths would willingly fly right into blazing flames, turning into nothing but charred remnants and smoke.
It was a cruel sight to see the young generation they had nurtured with so much effort die like fireflies.
The sight alone made everyone angry to the point that wrath and hatred for the Guild Master was seeping out of them.
Yet, everyone was fully aware that nobody had been forced to join the event.
One was free to leave at any point too.
Not a single being was forced to encounter the dangers of death and permanent disablement, but that didn't make the situation better.
Instead, it caused the older generation to feel like they had missed out on educating their students, the younger generation on the most crucial aspect.
They hadn't learned about understanding when to give up, when to retreat, and when to accept that someone else was simply stronger than themselves, swallow their pride and leave!
Every single one of the present prodigies had been thinking too highly of themselves, assuming that they were special, and that they were the strongest amongst all of them.
However, the truth was bitter and crystal clear; they were but mortals that could bleed, hurt and die!
Doing mistakes was fine, but death due to an overestimation of their capabilities was akin to inviting the grim reaper with open arms.
Kyle understood this clearly, but even he felt incapable of giving up right now.
There were only two hours left on his countdown, and even if hundreds of beings were to attack him, Kyle didn't think that he would be capable of giving up.
This would feel wrong, and it pointed out the biggest trait of most beings with intelligence; Their innate greed to want everything for themselves, their prideful behavior that blinded them from seeing and accepting their fault or mistakes, and weakness!
Even the thought about all of this made Kyle smile wryly, thinking that he should pay attention to himself.
Thus, he knocked out the Cultivators near him, without the slightest bit of hesitation.
The others saw that he didn't kill them, which astonished the old generation outside the dome far more than the overly exhausted Cultivators.
The younger Cultivators inside the dome were simply looking at Kyle, unable to do anything against him.
Only some of them were still able to control their body.
But the more they moved, the worse their injuries seemed to become as they tore open and blood gushed out of the wounds.
This caused Kyle to frown, shaking his head at the useless persistence the few of them had.
Within a few moments, he used some of the Soul energy from the inside of the Soul storage to activate the Nurture ability.
Afterward, he nourished the spores path of the devouring tree seedling, providing it with his ability's energy.
It released spores with several unknown effects almost instantaneously, which Kyle led out of the robe as they permeated the air.
While wearing the crystal necklace with the devouring tree seedling, it was quite difficult to allow the spores to do whatever they pleased.
After all, Kyle would be the first one to be affected by them.
But by wearing and sealing his mask, he prevented anything from happening to him.
This was the most important, and mandatory before Kyle materialized wind currents in order to release the spores of the devouring tree plant from the inner side of his punctured robe.
The spores were untraceable, and the only thing the injured beings around him noticed was a subtle draft of wind currents that brushed past them.
Only seconds later did they realize what was going on, but it was already too late as they began to feel the different effects of the devouring tree seedling's spores!
Initially, it was Kyle's plan to keep the spores a secret.
Unfortunately, this was easier said than done as he didn't feel like killing the other prodigies anymore.
They were already on the verge of death, and taking their life wouldn't bring Kyle much of an advantage. It would only exhaust him needlessly.
Rather, he might receive their Soul energy, but by killing the prodigies, he would also enrage the old generation of the other races.
This was something he wanted to avoid, and gaining their favor was certainly much better than their hatred.
Thus, Kyle had to use the spores that allowed him to close his distance to the other Cultivators before he knocked them out.
Within a few minutes, more than 60 injured Cultivators had been knocked out as Kyle terminated his control over the Nurture ability once again.
Taking a deep breath while leading the remnants of the spores further away from him, he could only take a look around.
'It should be feasible to survive this mess, right?'
