Chapter 224 Old ’Acquaintance’
Several days had passed since Kyle had been dragged away from the center of the Sadorla forest.
While he fell into a deep slumber that lasted 72 hours, Sven and his unit of the Blazing Legion had decided to leave the Sadorla forest as well, but something held them back.
It was not that they couldn't carry Kyle through the surrounding lands to enter the Lahin kingdom in a matter of days, but they didn't do so owing to a specific reason.
During his prolonged sleep, Kyle woke up once for a few seconds and blabbered something before falling asleep once again.
Initially, his words didn't make any sense to anyone because they were only two words that described someone.
But it was not long before they heard the exact same words mentioning someone specifically.
"Chubby merchant"
If Selene would have been by their side, she would know what these words indicated, or rather who they referred to!
The chubby merchant was someone both Kyle and Selene were overly familiar with.
If he were to think about it, even Sven must have heard the rumour about the Chubby merchant.
After all, it was the Blazing Legion that had led the two thousand Lohars away from the Vila town after Kyle, Selene, and more than a dozen strong Adventurers had rescued them from the vile grasps of rouge Nasgas and the chubby merchant's fat hands!
Thus, after hearing the nickname for the second time, Captain Sven finally understood what for and why Kyle had mumbled these two words.
"Let's return. If I'm not wrong, there is something he wants to figure out before leaving the Sadorla forest. Maybe Kyle saw something that made him curious?"
In the end, Sven couldn't be sure about the way he had comprehended the situation.
Because it was simply not possible to figure out what the young man aimed to say with those two words before he drifted back to sleep, they changed their plans once again.
From hurrying to escape the Sadorla forest their group then changed their focus to entering the Lahin kingdom in order to be able to hand over the mutated Licara flower seed to the Lohar Queen.
This astonished many higher authorities as they had never expected to get wind of the masked man.
But what was confusing in this could be said to be the fact that the Blazing Legion unit and the women around him were just setting up a tent before they went to rest.
Some were also cultivating, and guarding them against possible attacks.
It was unlikely for anyone to be attacked because the rules of the Brawl were quite harsh and those who decided to intentionally break them would be severely punished.
Thus, Sven was not all that worried about something happening to them.
He was more curious about Kyle's intention behind his generous gift than feeling restless about their return.
However, little did he know that Kyle had no recollection of waking up from his sleep and muttering the words 'chubby merchant' drowsily.
It was obvious that he knew who he was talking about because his voice turned cold when he heard the name.
Kyle clenched his fist, to the point that the white of his knuckles could be seen.
Everyone could tell that his face bore fine lines of fury as he tried hard to contain his anger, even though it was hidden well behind the mask that he was still wearing.
As such, the others tried their best to show as if they were unruffled by the fact that Kyle was incapable to recall why he had mumbled the chubby merchant's nickname.
But this was easier said than done as the Soldiers sighed deeply.
They had wished to return to their home, only to make a seemingly useless detour.
Yet, in the end, it was Yasmine, who turned into their last ray of hope as she remarked.
"When I was outside to talk with the Lords of some cities in Anadra, I saw that a small marketplace was built near the dome.
If I am not wrong, one of the Aldra merchants was referred to as 'chubby merchant' by the others."
To gain some more information about the special class of the Glory Knight academy, Yasmine had put her time outside the Brawl to good use and met some of the higher authorities of the demihuman race from the Anadra kingdom.
There were a handful of them in the Sadorla forest, who were trying their best to motivate their descendants, disciples and prodigies for the Brawl, and to amass heavenly treasures.
Given that Yasmine was a high royalty of the Phoenix, and the only one to be precise, every citizen of the Anadra kingdom knew her.
This made procuring information much easier for her as she was welcomed by everyone she met, making their interactions easy.
However, rather than focusing on the little pieces of information she received, Yasmine was far more interested in the small market that had been set up not too long ago.
As such, when Kyle heard about this, the remnants of his drowsiness were washed away.
He jumped up from the ground and left the tent at once.
Unsheathing the Starbreaker katana, he took a glance at it, seeing if the blade was still sharp enough to decapitate the head of some trashy-kind of individual..
However, even before he could take a look at the market, Beatrice's arm reached out for him all of a sudden.
Turning towards her, Kyle saw a jumbled set of mixed emotions reflected within her eyes.
This confused him for a moment before he sighed deeply as he reassured her.
"Fine, I won't kill anyone here…
Even though the old part of Kyle's mind from before the reincarnation was still struggling to accept the reality that the world was filled with death, he wouldn't hesitate to kill the chubby merchant the moment he got an opportunity to do so.
Unfortunately, this was easier said than done, and not something he was supposed to do while being surrounded by dozens of powerhouses that could end his life with a snap of their fingers.
Kyle didn't know how important the chubby merchant was to the Aldra race, and neither could he be sure that he meant the same trashy existence Yasmine was talking about.
With that in mind, Beatrice didn't even have to remind him of thinking rationally, or not do something reckless as he sheathed his katana once again.
"Ok, that's great… but I also wanted to ask for your blood…
The reserves you filled are empty, and I didn't receive a fresh supply of your blood for nearly a week…"
Hearing Beatrice's soft voice that was low enough to barely reach his ears, Kyle nearly stumbled over his own feet.
The last thing he had expected was for Beatrice to ask him for more blood.
It had been far over a month since he had to give her some of his own blood, which made him momentarily forget about the fact that they were under a blood pact and that Beatrice lived off of him.
Thus, it took him a second before he smiled wryly as he pointed at the tent.
"Let's do it there. It would be an unnecessary hassle if someone were to see us doing it, right?"
The way Kyle said all of this caused Sven's soldiers to look at the two of them with wide eyes.
To add on, Beatrice's joyous expression that followed with a vigorous nod caused their imagination to run wild and greatly misunderstand the entire situation.
Instinctively their eyes flicked over to Yasmine to figure out if a large-scale war was about to break out between the two women.
Yet, contrary to their belief, the Soldiers had not only grossly misunderstood the situation, but their imagination began to wild run once again when they heard the Phoenix halfling's answer,
"Alright, but don't make me wait for too long. Make it quick, and finish off fast!"
Nodding their heads, Kyle and Beatrice disappeared in the tent, leaving behind Yasmine, whose eyes followed the two.
On the other hand, the three of them didn't even realize what kind of misunderstanding they had created with their choice of words.
But, by far, the worst, was the fact that Kyle left the tent only two minutes later, followed with Beatrice, who licked her lips in a seductive manner.
Her worried expression had eased up a little, and she seemed to be full of vigor, causing the soldiers to be confused.
'She is satisfied…in only two minutes?' All their faces bore identical expressions of amusement and confusion, wondering what kind of miracles Kyle was able to achieve in a mere two minutes.
As such, while some soldiers were genuinely confused, others were boasting about the fact that they were able to last much longer.
However, seeing the satisfaction on Beatrice's face, it didn't seem as if she was bothered about being able to spend only two minutes with Kyle's little monster!
Little did they know that their mind was overwhelmed by their lust and frustration that came with the inability to have a woman for several months.
Meanwhile, Kyle was completely different.
When he sensed the gazes of the soldiers lingering on him, it was almost as if he was pulled back to his past self.
Never had he been a player that liked to play around with women.
Instead, there had often been women that flocked around him, trying to get their hands on him and to claim him for themselves.
But given his obsession, determination, and unwillingness to give up on possibly awakening his cultivation veins, every single one of them had left him.
He had never really been bothered about this as he was sure that sex was the only thing that had excited him about relationships in the past.
Yet, even then, he hadn't actively sought the company of a woman just for a night, let alone acted or thought as barbarically as the Lohar soldiers seemed to behave.
Shaking his head lightly, Kyle decided to ignore them, while focusing on stopping the bleeding on his neck.
For now, he didn't fill any reserves for Beatrice to drink once she was hungry again.
Thus, she would require more of his blood in a few days as she didn't consume much of his blood for now.
Unsure whether Kyle could cope with the loss of blood after having fought for more than a day in the Brawl, Beatrice didn't want to be a burden to him.
Thus, the blood she took from him was barely enough to satiate her thirst even if her body required slightly more to suppress the desire that surged throughout her entire being.
It was really annoying, but she couldn't change anything about her body's desires, except drinking more of Kyle's blood.
This was not possible right now, and she decided to distract herself by occupying her mind with something different.
"Let's go take a look at this trash, the chubby merchant!"
Her expression was that of a happy and confident young woman and seeing this Kyle couldn't help but smile wryly.
Without saying another word, he simply followed her, while the others fell in steps behind them, and their group approached the small marketplace without hesitation.
While leading them, Beatrice scanned through the surroundings to search for their target. Meanwhile, Kyle appeared on her right and pointed in a specific direction.
"He's there, I remember his hues!"
