Starting From the Dragon Tribe

Chapter 10: The Training

After lunch, Lutecia, Lu Chen and Chu Zihang stepped out of the restaurant as the waiter watched them with widened eyes.

When they were no longer in sight, the waiter counted the number of boxes on the table and felt fortunate that their shop didn’t hold any speed eating activity. Otherwise, Lu Chen would have broken the record.

Upon getting into Lutecia’s Porsche 911, they headed for the train station in Chicago. On their way there, Lu Chen and Chu Zihang remained silent while Lutecia talked incessantly.

Lutecia felt helpless in her heart as one of them was a dispassionate man while the other was an overeater. However, both of them were taciturn people. Don’t they see I’m a beautiful lady? Shouldn’t they talk to me proactively?

She thought that by being hospitable to them, she would be able to achieve her goal. However, they didn’t seem remotely interested in what she was saying.

As the one responsible for attracting new blood to the student union, she felt frustrated. Lu Chen’s blood lineage was believed to be Grade A or above. On the other hand, Chu Zihang joined the college himself. Even though he hadn’t gone through a test yet, he was supposed to have a high-grade blood lineage as well.

They were both the cream of the crop, but she failed in her attempt to attract them to join the student union.

After giving it a thought, she reckoned that they might be better off joining the Lionheart Club as the student union under the new President had become more like a leisurely meeting place for the students.

After staring at the big screen in the train station for a while, Chu Zihang voiced his doubt. “There’s no CC1000 on the schedule.”

“We’re going to board the exclusive train to the college, so it’s not on the schedule,” Lutecia explained. Then, she took a look at her Patek Philippe wristwatch. “It’ll arrive soon.”

Following that, she brought them to an empty platform and waited patiently. Meanwhile, Lu Chen was drinking Coke and thought that people in this world really knew how to enjoy life.

Just then, he raised his head and saw something coming over. Thanks to his eagle eyes, he was able to see the thing clearly before Lutecia and Chu Zihang did.

It was a black high-speed train. Just like a black python, the silver patterns on it extended toward the back of the train. As it was coming into the station, it was as though it was growing rapidly right before their eyes.

After the train stopped, the exquisite door opened, whereupon a man in a green uniform stepped out of the train. There was a golden World Tree emblem on his shirt. “Miss Lutecia, are the men behind you Mr. Lu Chen and Mr. Chu Zihang?” He just needed her confirmation. Apparently, he was aware of Lutecia’s task.

After a nod, Lutecia turned around and said, “Take out your student cards.” Then, she showed them how to use the student card. After she touched her card on a device, a green light lit up and a strange rhythm sounded.

Realizing that Lu Chen wasn’t going to take the initiative, Chu Zihang decided to step forward and placed his card on the device. This time, the rhythm was clearly different.

“You’re Grade A? No wonder Mr. Schneider would come over personally.” The train conductor’s eyes beamed with delight.

Since Lu Chen was the only one left, he imitated how they did it and put his card on the device, upon which the same rhythm as when Chu Zihang did it sounded.

“Your task might be simple, but it’s meaningful.” The conductor flashed a smile at Lutecia. They rarely send a senior student to fetch new students. Since they were both Grade A, this task wasn’t meaningless.

After Lu Chen boarded the train, he was amazed by the interior. The train was plain-looking on the outside, but it was beautifully decorated on the inside. The interior was designed in the European style. The walls were decorated with Victorian flower patterned wallpaper. The window frames were made from wood. The green leather couches were stitched with gold threads. The entire space was delicate and elegant.

At the other end of the train was a man sitting patiently with a respirator on his face. Raising his head, he beckoned to Lu Chen and Chu Zihang. “I’m Von Schneider, the leader of the Executive Department.” After they were seated, he stared at Chu Zihang. “We met before.”

In response, Chu Zihang nodded. On the side, Lutecia felt apprehensive. Her two juniors might not be aware that the man before their eyes wasn’t just the current leader of the Executive Department. Despite the fact that he had to wear a respirator due to his sickness, he was probably the sternest leader in the history of the Executive Department. All the executive agents in the world were under his management.

Seeing the sight, she thought, Well, three impassive men have gathered together. Let’s see who will turn out to be the coldest among the three! It’s like three robots are having a meeting!

“Hi, I’m Lu Chen,” he said politely.

“The training for new students at the college is supposed to be complicated. Since you two are somewhat familiar with your own abilities, I’ll simplify it for you.” Schneider spoke at a slow speed, but Lu Chen and Chu Zihang were patient. “Sign these non-disclosure agreements first.”

As they spoke, the conductor put down two documents in front of them. After taking a brief look, Lu Chen and Chu Zihang directly signed their names on them.

Lu Chen didn’t mind signing any agreement as he didn’t think it could restrain him in any way, while Chu Zihang knew that it was necessary.

A sense of gratification flashed across Schneider’s gaze when he saw that, after which he lifted the white cloth on his left. The pupils of Lu Chen and Chu Zihang contracted, while Lutecia parted her lips when they saw that.

“I thought I’d just show it to you instead of describing it. This way, you’ll be able to accept it readily.”

In front of them was a cylindrical glass bottle that was filled with yellow Formalin. Inside the glass bottle was an animal that was as large as a 3-year-old medium-sized dog. It appeared to be a lizard with beautiful scales. The wings on its back looked like the sails of a ship.

At the moment, the animal was hibernating with its wings and long beard floating in the liquid.

“Is it a dragon?” Chu Zihang asked in shock.

“Isn’t this a lizard?” Lu Chen was puzzled. He had never read up on Western mythology, but he remembered that a dragon was supposed to be gigantic and noble. In his own country, a dragon was the symbol of luck.

When he came across the dragon race when he was going through the introduction to this world, he was excited that there really existed this kind of creature.

While Schneider was lost for words, Lutecia was flabbergasted because a dragon was gotten out of the icehouse just to help the new students with the training. Also, she was shocked that Lu Chen just called the dragon a ‘lizard’.

Even though the dragon indeed looks like a lizard with wings, he shouldn’t have said that! It’s as though we, the mixed race humans, have been downgraded.

“This is a young red dragon that is still hibernating,” Schneider explained. “And our duty at the college is to teach you how to slay the dragons.”

Schneider was an effective man, so he would just let other professors teach them history and other subjects in the future. He just needed to present the truth to them and make them accept it.
