Chapter 15: The Physical Test

After giving it a thought, Lu Chen asked, “Finger, do you have any textbooks on the kotodamas? I need to read about it in advance.”

“I do, but I don’t remember where they are now. If you’re really interested, I’ll send you the periodic table of the kotodamas so that you can have a look.” Finger scratched his head. The textbooks were for Year 1 students, and he was in Year 7 now, so he couldn’t find them anymore.

Following that, he sent the periodic table to Lu Chen via an email. After saying thanks, Lu Chen tapped on the email on his phone.

Number 72, The Split Second. Its user can accelerate their own speed which can grow exponentially. The higher the level, the greater the speed. There’s no need to chant the dragon language, and there won’t be any changes on the appearance. Perfect!

Having come up with a plan, Lu Chen was certain that he would be able to pass the test.

The next morning, Lu Chen arrived at the sports field again, but there were not many people around. Since the physical test would be held on this day, only the new students were allowed to enter the grass field. I’m responsible for supervising the physical test today.” He was a middle-aged and suited man who was followed by some staff members of the college. In an instant, all the new students fell silent and waited for the test to begin.

“The physical test is simple. Just run for a hundred meters. Come forward when I call your name.” Mance decided not to beat around the bush and start the test.

Laser detectors were lined on both sides of the track, so the professor didn’t have to count down before the students started running as this could be inaccurate. The students just had to get ready and run to the other side, after which the detectors would give the most accurate speed results, thereby reducing any errors.

“Lancelot.”

Hearing that, Lu Chen shifted his attention to Lancelot, who took the initiative to chat them up just now. He didn’t expect that the latter was the first to take the test.

With his back straightened, Lancelot moved forward. It was apparent that he was confident of his physical strength. Before Mance’s arrival, they had all done some warm-up, so they just had to get into the right position and start running.

“7.896 seconds.” Mance read out the number for everyone to know as the laptop automatically saved the result.

As Lancelot ran backward, he kept a humble smile on his face. Some of the new students complimented him, but they were not particularly impressed.

Lancelot just broke the Olympic record by a few seconds, but the speed seemed perfectly normal to the others. Mixed race humans were physically superior to average humans, and Grade A people were the best of the best, so their strength was a few times greater than that of average people.

Despite the fact that they were a few times greater in strength, it didn’t mean that their speed would multiply. Their strength was a comprehensive value, but there were other factors affecting their speed.

Even though Lancelot was three times greater in strength than the average person, he could only achieve the result of 7.896 seconds.

It was forbidden to kindle the golden irises to activate their dragon blood, so they could only sprint forward in their natural state. Nevertheless, the result was already astonishing.

The physical test went on, and it proved that Lancelot’s confidence wasn’t unfounded because no other students could break his record. Their results ranged from 8 to 8.5 seconds.

In particular, two girls attracted Lu Chen’s attention. One of them was NoNo, who achieved 7.991 seconds. The other was Susie, who achieved 7.993 seconds.

Now, Lu Chen had a basic understanding of the physical strength of these best students. Perhaps it was because of their unusual ways of joining the college, Chu Zihang and Lu Chen were the last to take the test.

“Chu Zihang.”

Hearing his name, Chu Zihang nodded and moved forward. After doing some simple warm-up, he bent over to ready himself. Despite his loose T-shirt, the muscles on his back were prominent. Finally, it was Lu Chen’s turn. With a calm expression, Chu Zihang stared at Lu Chen and wondered if the latter was really stronger than he was.
