Starting From the Dragon Tribe
Chapter 45: Combat Confrontation Class
“C Point, please respond! Please respond!”
“C Point has been overtaken, the target is too fast. We can’t lock on to him!”
“B Point is under attack…”
“B Point has been overtaken, the target is currently moving towards HQ, prepare to engage!”
“President, the target has entered the clock tower!”
“Repeat, the target has entered the clock tower!”
“……”
The students in the clock tower were holding MP5s filled with Frigga bullets, foreheads damp with sweat, eyes wide, looking at the corner, waiting with bated breath for the enemy to arrive.
Five MP5s locked onto the space in the corridor. Even if the man was fast, he would have nowhere to hide!
Yet the target did not appear from the door. The five students instinctively turned their guns toward a loud noise. He had entered directly by breaking through a wall!
The debris crumbled, and a ghostly shadow obscured in the smoke and dust attacked. Only one person reacted in time and fired a bullet, but the visitor swung a special baton and deflected it.
The 70 centimeter baton was like a supreme sword when in his hand!
Thump! thump! thump! thump! thump—!
The five students guarding the corridor fell to the ground in an instant. The wind caused by the visitor’s swings parted the smoke and dust from the collapsed wall, revealing the figure of a youth.
He weighed the plastic baton in his hand, a little dissatisfied. Why did these people get to use real guns, yet he had to use this toy?
The Combat Confrontation Class was not very accommodating to cold weapon users, but that was understandable. Frigga bullets weren’t fatal; they only had anesthesia inside them, but cold weapons were different. There was always a chance that they could cause serious injury or even death (In the original novel, I still don’t understand how NoNo survived a knife to the neck from Susie).
Thus, outside of private spars between students and the madness that was the Day of Liberty, the warfare classes held by the college only allowed these batons in order to prevent injury and death.
Although it was just a plastic prop, it was still somewhat similar to a police baton. When wielded by someone like Lu Chen, it would still cause significant damage even when not swung at full strength. These Senior Brothers would probably need a few days of recuperation.
This was a freshman vs sophomore Combat Confrontation Class, and it was one of Cassell College’s traditions. It was probably to let the upperclassmen teach their juniors how to “behave,” but today, the situation seemed to be reversed.
This was the mock battlefield located at the back of the college. The bell tower had survived countless generations of students’ “rampages.” Now, the bell at the top was long gone, and what remained was a three-meter square platform surrounded by uneven walls.

Caesar stood at the top of the tower, looking calm, which also eased the deputy by his side. No matter how strong the enemy was, if the leader wasn’t panicking, then he wouldn’t panic either.
Caesar was the type of person that made people want to trust and follow him even if it were the end of the world.
Currently, he was listening to the footsteps downstairs. Even if the use of Kotodama was prohibited, his hearing was far beyond the other hybrids.
S-grade, Lu Chen, what an interesting opponent.
Suddenly, Caesar jumped up, and the ground he was just standing on shattered—no, not just where his feet were—the entire top of the clock tower was breached!
An object nearly 300 kilograms was thrown up from below. The ground completely crumbled, and with no foothold, several of Caesar’s preconceived combat plans went up in smoke.
Even with all his determination, Caesar’s eyes couldn’t help but twitch. He had heard earlier of the extraordinary abnormal strength an S-grade had, and today, he had finally seen just how outrageous it was.
He could manage to lift a 300 kilogram piano, but to throw it up like a cannonball? That, he couldn’t do.
The Student Union member obviously did not have Caesar’s reflexes and fell through the collapsed ground. The piano hit his right arm in the process, apparently breaking it.
Caesar drew his guns in the air, and using his intuition and hearing, fired his Desert Eagles, causing a rain of Frigga bullets to pour downward as the guns thundered.
A strong gust of wind hit, parting the smoke, and a steel plate came hurtling towards him! It had blocked all the bullets.
Caesar flipped back onto a broken wall, drew Dictator from his back, and looked right at the black haired youth who jumped on the opposite side.
TL Note: Dictator is Caesar’s sword.
Lu Chen threw the steel plate in his hand, took a look at the baton in his hand, then looked at Caesar’s Dictator. He wanted to curse out loud. What the hell is this!? I have a suspicion that the school is trying to work against me, for them to specifically not say that the students’ own weapons weren’t allowed! And his weapon used during the Red Maple mission was returned to the “public.”
As a melee master, Lu Chen was able to tell with a single glance that Caesar’s weapon was a top grade weapon. He could not tell what level of alchemic refinement it took to make that.
Isn’t this straight-up bullying my generation?
At present, two of the college’s most reputed figures were facing off atop the remnants of the clock tower. The autumn wind ruffled Caesar’s dazzling blonde hair and blew aside Lu Chen’s bangs. This scene was like a duel between two masters in a TV show fighting in the Forbidden City.
But Caesar broke the atmosphere, saying, “It’s not nice to throw things in the air.”
The steel plate fell to the ground nearby with a thud. It was fortunate that no students were there.
“Sorry, I’m from the countryside, so I’ve never climbed a tall building before. Pardon my manners,” Lu Chen replied, then crouched downward. No matter how well-made his plastic baton was, it would definitely break if it collided with an alchemic sword. He had, using his “normal physical specs,” to end it in one strike.
But in the next moment, Caesar’s behavior made Lu Chen freeze.
“I don’t like to take advantage of others,” Caesar said, then threw down Dictator. Didn’t he just say not to throw stuff?
Lu Chen recovered and laughed. He too threw the baton aside, “You’re funny.”
“Likewise,” Caesar replied, then moved. The opening in the wall that was hardly 20 centimeters wide was like a congenial avenue for his dexterous feet. He moved deftly to Lu Chen’s side to launch a surprise attack.
The first move was a choke, but it was blocked, and the counter from his opponent was so overwhelmingly strong that he almost lost his balance.
But Caesar didn’t retreat, instead jumping with the inertia caused by the forward rush, like an acrobat. He adjusted his stance in midair, legs forking around and arms pointing downward.
Caesar knew from the start that Lu Chen’s strength was far greater than his own, probably two or three times his, and that he had no chance of winning a head-on duel with his fists and feet alone. He had to seize the opportunity to use jiu-jitsu to lock his opponent’s joints, strangle his opponent’s throat, and suffocate him!
Lu Chen’s eyes twinkled. Even though Caesar’s movements were very slow to him, it had been so long since an opponent like Caesar sparred seriously with him. He quickly crouched, sidestepped, and reached out to grab Caesar’s ankle.
The moment he caught it, the fight would be over, and in addition to such a dangerous altitude, it would be like deciding his opponent’s life or death.
But Caesar’s response subverted Lu Chen’s expectations: he actually took the initiative and stuck out his right foot, but it was used to stomp on Lu Chen’s hand, and using the reaction force, sprang backwards, as if floating in midair. And he was 30 meters from the ground!
Lu Chen moved to turn around; Caesar was already falling downwards, and Lu Chen leaned down to lend a hand. It was only a mock battle: even with a hybrid’s physique, falling from this height meant injury, if not death.
However, when he looked down, he froze, his face unconsciously lighting up with a smile. And Caesar below smiled too, a Desert Eagle in each hand, the black muzzles pointed toward Lu Chen’s head.
Bang—! Bang—!
