Starting From the Dragon Tribe

Chapter 68: Let’s go to Japan

“White Queen!”

Lu Chen was both shocked and delighted. He listened well in the dragon genealogy classes. The four dragon kings slumbered, biding their time to return to the world, but the White Queen should have long been slain by the Dark King Nidhogg.

But in his Road to Godhood quest, it said that he had to kill the Remnants of the White Queen, meaning the textbooks were not completely correct, though they still mostly were.

“Yes, we found the White Queen’s descendants. There’s more interesting things to be said later. I was able to collect blood samples under the guise of a kendo sparring session with Miyamoto-sensei, and guess what?”

Anjou’s smile was playful, but Lu Chen saw the deep blaze hidden within his eyes.

“The ones from the Japanese branch… are all descendants of the White Queen?” Lu Chen followed the principal’s train of thought and said.

“Correct, the genetic sequence had a match of up to 80% and is significantly different from that of the Four Kings. The Japanese branch hides a secret that the Secret Party does not know of, and this secret has likely been hidden for thousands of years,” Anjou paused and pointed to the document in Lu Chen’s hand, “The Secret Party used its influence to look for similar wavelengths in order to ascertain who she (3rd generation) was contacting, but to no avail, until the other day, an ace agent successfully stole a copy of a document belonging to the Geological Exploration Bureau in a spy operation. Only then were we able to find the source… an organism responded to it.”

“An ancient dragon? What generation… or could it be that White Monarch?” Lu Chen asked with uncertainty. Could it be that the White Queen’s remnants have already awakened?

“The information that the ace agent obtained was limited since he left in a hurry. He doesn’t even know from what location the report is from, so further investigation is needed.”

Lu Chen thought, why is Japan always so conniving?

“What order can you climb using Split Second now?” Anjou poured more tea for Lu Chen.

“Fifth order. Recently, it feels like I haven’t been able to move up,” Lu Chen thought, I don’t have Split Second at all, but compared to his previous displayed speed, along with his attribute increase and awakening of his Kotodama, it’d be appropriate to say he moved up an order, it was just that he couldn’t say that his speed doubled from the “fourth order.”

“That’s already very good. With your physique, you can probably reach the average user’s eighth or ninth order, perhaps even faster than me,” the principal encouraged, but Lu Chen shook his head modestly, “You are definitely still faster, Principal.”

One knows one’s own affairs best. Even if he went all out in speed, he would still be far behind the principal in speed. The difference between speedsters was usually a heaven’s length apart.

But this didn’t mean that in terms of dragonslaying, he was inferior to the principal—quite the opposite. Against large enemies with strong defense, the principal may have some trouble, but he could use his absolute strength to kill it, which was why the principal loved to deploy him so much.

Anjou lamented, “I’m old now. The future belongs to you young people. No need to be anxious, with your bloodline, you’ll eventually break through with your Kotodama. It so happens that I have a student in Japan who also uses Split Second, said to have reached the seventh order. Maybe you’ll be able to gain some pointers from him.”

“So I have to go to Japan,” Lu Chen shrugged.

“You don’t want to?” Anjou asked with a smile.

“Of course I do, it sounds like fun,” Lu Chen smiled. Draconic genetic drugs, target of the 3rd generation’s call, Japan’s White Queen descendants, the possible existence of the Remnants of the White Queen, enhancing the Kotodama. He had too many reasons to make the trip. He was looking forward to it before he had even moved a muscle.

“That’s a good thing as well. The Japanese branch has been treating the agents of the main branch with rudeness and arrogance in recent years, causing discontent among people here. And with this occurrence, it’s only right to give them a warning.”

Anjou picked up his teacup. His smile behind the cup seemed to Lu Chen to have a few hints of roguishness.

“What the principal means is… for me to give them a little scare, so for that reason, can I mess around a bit?” Lu Chen grinned. He liked this sort of task.

“No.”

However, Principal Anjou’s words froze Lu Chen’s smile in place, but before he could ask why not, the principal laughed, “It’s you guys.’”

“Ah?” Lu Chen was confused. This mission would have other people?

“As I said before, the Japanese branch somewhat looks down on the young people of the college. This time, we will send out the most talented young people. Besides, you haven’t gone so far out on your own before yet. Your mentor is not quite at ease.”

This was Anjou’s careful and thoughtful decision. This child, Lu Chen, was good in every aspect, from being good at fighting, to respecting seniors and teachers, to maintaining good relationships with classmates, to diligently completing every Execution Bureau mission, but he… was still just a country boy from Vietnam.

“Who else will be there?” Lu Chen asked. Honestly, he did not really want to have other strangers on the mission. Meeting and befriending others was such a pain, and he would be much more carefree while alone.

With his greatly enhanced attributes and awakened Kotodama, he believed that even if the Japanese branch betrayed and tried to kill him, he would still be able to cut down the other side’s leader and calmly retreat.

But it would be different with liabilities. He, Lu Chen, never had the precedent of abandoning his comrades.

“Don’t worry, it’s someone you’re familiar with—Chu Zihang.”

Lu Chen breathed a sigh of relief. Brother Chu was barely passing, and he had a pretty good relationship with him. At least it wouldn’t be too awkward to be on a mission with him.

“Originally, it was decided that you and Caesar should go together. It couldn’t be more appropriate to have the Lionheart President and Student Union President be the representatives, but Caesar’s uncle rejected this proposal.”

Uncle? Not Caesar’s father?

“Since you have no objections, then this matter is settled. Norma will send you an email, and you can get ready at the college,” Lu Chen nodded and got up to say goodbye. Today’s afternoon tea would probably end here, until he heard the principal’s voice again before he exited.

“You should go see Chu Zihang first,” the principal’s words were full of meaning.

As the door closed, Anjou sat alone in his chair as he gazed at the documents.

The fact that the Japanese hybrid race was of the White Queen’s bloodline was something he had already concluded, but so what? They were descendants of the Four Dragon Kings.

As long as they didn’t betray the human race and stood with the opposition, the Dragon Raja, then they were friends. In the early years, the Japanese branch did well… but now, not so much.

Just what was the 3rd generation trying to contact?

Anjou’s pair of piercing golden eyes looked out into the sky through the window, a thought-provoking smile on his face.
