Chapter 787 - Boundless City

Chapter 787: Boundless City

Xia Wuye worked with astonishing efficiency. In just one hour, he was able to provide Xia Fei with detailed, firsthand information of those two corpses.

Turning off the screen, Xia Fei muttered, “Everything points to the Southstars? It seems like the mastermind behind the scene is in the Elephant Tusk Constellation.”

The Southstars were among the many sapient species residing in the Law Realm. They had an appearance extremely similar to humans and lived in a white galaxy, the Elephant Tusk Constellation.

The two corpses were both Southstars, and their equipment had come from the Elephant Tusk Constellation. Before dying, they had eaten cheese and braised rock dates. Rock dates were a specialty of the Elephant Tusk Constellation, and the Southstars loved to use it in a variety of their snacks.

Oro nodded. “I’ve heard of the Southstars before. They serve as vital investigators in the service of the God Race. The warriors of this race are very persistent, and no one can hope to get any information from their mouths. Even torture can’t pry open their mouths; they’re often sent to carry out secret missions. There aren’t a lot of them, but they’re considered first-class individuals in the Law Realm.”

Xia Fei said nothing. Even though he knew that the Southstars had wiped out the Old God Cult, it was not as if he could charge in and openly accuse them, right? No matter how small the Southstars was, it was still a sapient species. Xia Fei needed to clear up the details before taking action.

Xia Fei returned to the Grandcloud Association to await news from Keenan.

He sensed that the sudden appearance of the bronze mongoose mask at the trade fair, Xu Ming’s death, and the purging of the Old God Cult were all connected. The one who had brought the mask was highly likely the one who had seized everything in the Old God Cult’s divine altar, and the precious Law of Time might have been among those items.

Keenan apologetically said, “Master Fei, it isn’t that my old self isn’t trying, but the time is truly not right. Everyone who took part in the trade fair is dead, but I am still alive, so the Galerain Society is demanding that I go over and explain everything.”

Xia Fei smiled. “So you’re blaming me?”

Keenan waved his hands and solemnly replied, “Not at all! Master, you saved me this time, giving me another chance at life. Your business is my business, and as long as I can do it, I will not refuse the task. Unfortunately, the time truly isn’t right, and it is far too difficult to show my face.

“Please be at ease, though. Our first executive has already gone to the Goose Pagoda Constellation. In just a few days, the boss will definitely bring back the information you requested.”

When he mentioned the first executive of the Grandcloud Association, Keenan’s face turned red with excitement. This first executive seemed to be some incredible individual.

Xia Fei had long ago heard rumors about this fellow. It was said that the first executive and second executive of the Grandcloud Association, Duan Feihong and Feng Zhishan, were both Law Overlords. Duan Feihong was a level 4 Law Overlord and Feng Zhishan was a level 1 Law Overlord. Out of them three, the third executive Keenan had the worst cultivation at level 7 Great Law Emperor.

With two Law Overlords, the Grandcloud Association played host to two powerful leaders, and it could match the strength of the great clans despite it being an underworld organization. Thus, the Grandcloud Association was a faction that could not be underestimated in the White Horse Constellation. Even though it was involved in illicit activities, no one was willing to provoke it.

However, why would a Law Overlord mix with the underworld? This was what Xia Fei did not get.

Nodding, Xia Fei said, “Since First Executive Duan is going personally, I’ll wait a little longer.”

Xia Fei stood up and said his farewell. He had yet to find the Solid Gold Flying Cicada Pupae required by Master Artificer Huo Yutong, and Xia Fei was starting to get a little anxious. After all, the matter of the Celestial Zerohammer was extremely important. As Xia Fei grew stronger and stronger in rank, the weapons he could use were beginning to dwindle. He now rarely had opportunities to use the Dragonscale Hectoslasher and October Flying Snow, weapons that had served him very well once before.

It was not because Xia Fei preferred the new over the old but because his enemies were getting stronger and stronger, and these weapons would not be able to hurt his enemies all that much.

Warriors would never feel bad about having too many secret weapons. Xia Fei also keenly understood this. He would have never survived this long if he had not been hiding so many secrets and trump cards.

Keenan blinked and then stopped him. “Master Fei, what do we do about that girl? She’s in a bad mental state, often crying and throwing tantrums. Keeping her in the Grandcloud Association is no solution at all.”

Xia Fei laughed and slapped his head. “I almost forgot about that.”

Xia Fei took out a light green liquid and gave it to Keenan. “This is Sudden Return Spirit Liquid. Have her take it twice every morning, one drop each time. After three days, she should have recovered her rationality and completely forgotten her past. At that time, secretly send her to Old Woods of the Law Enforcement Board. Your Grandcloud Association should have the means to do this, right?”

Keenan was startled. He had not pegged Xia Fei to also be a skilled apothecary. For such a small bottle of medicine to be capable of curing Ellen’s illness and also wiping out her memories was far too fantastical! Moreover, Xia Fei seemed extremely confident that the medicine would work without needing to perform any sort of tests.

Taking the medicine, Keenan replied, “There is no need to concern yourself about such a trifling matter. Leave it to Old Keenan—ah! I talked so much about giving you a present. It’s unfortunate that all that had to happen.”

Xia Fei found it rather laughable. Giving him a present? He had already taken all the treasures put up for trade, benefitting from a disaster. If Keenan had not taken him to the underworld trade fair, he would not have had all these things, nor would he have been able to increase his rank so quickly.

“I currently need nine Solid Gold Flying Cicada Pupae. Since you’re so sincere about it, Xia Fei will happily comply.” Xia Fei shrugged and extended a hand.

Keenan froze. He had just been speaking politely, not expecting that Xia Fei would not fall for it and truly ask for a gift. Keenan was in a difficult spot and wanted nothing more than to give himself a good slap for finding trouble. He knew that Xia Fei had an unreasonable personality, so why had he opened his big, fat mouth?

“Master Fei, the Solid Gold Flying Cicada Pupae are mystical materials used by master artificers. How can our Grandcloud Association possess such stuff? Still, there’s no need to worry. I will send out all my subordinates to gather information for you. If they find some, I’ll do everything I can to help you get them!” As it was already too late to go back, Keenan thumped his chest and shamelessly promised his help.

Suddenly, Keenan seemed to think of something and softly asked, “Master Fei, have you ever been to Boundless City?”

Xia Fei asked, “Boundless City? Is this a constellation of the Law Realm? Which species does it belong to?”

Keenan replied, “Boundless City isn’t a constellation and doesn’t belong to any particular species. It’s the market run by the biggest merchant guild in the Law Realm, the Boundless Heaven Trading Association. As this market is simply too big, it takes up an entire city, so it is called Boundless City.”

After leaving the Grandcloud Association, Xia Fei went straight to Boundless City.

It turned out that there was a top-class trading association in the Law Realm called the Boundless Heaven Trading Association. It operated on a vast scale and had set up markets in numerous locations, serving both the regular public and the underworld and possessing considerable power. To have prospered up to such a level in this realm that did not particularly like commerce, the Boundless Heaven Trading Association could truly be considered a top-class organization.

Xia Fei slightly modified his appearance and then used his Precision Edition 100 series spatial compass to go to Boundless City. Xia Fei currently had two spatial compasses. One was the Precision Edition 100 series from the Fig Corporation, while the other was the clan compass given to him by Xia Wuye. The former was unregistered, so he could come and go without leaving a trail, and the latter made it easy to communicate with the clan.

*Whoosh~*

As Xia Fei walked out of the spatial tunnel, he discovered that Boundless City was not actually that big. It was built atop a mountain and consisted of seven streets running horizontally and seven streets running vertically. Considering that this city was just one trading association, it was still very impressive.

The streets were crowded. Xia Fei did not encounter much trouble entering the city. There were not any small stores here like those found in White Horse Constellation; there were only large buildings with names like Boundless Heaven Jewelry, Boundless Heaven Drugstore, and Boundless Heaven Travel Agency. All of them carried the name of Boundless Heaven.

Each store covered a large area, and their dazzling goods could be seen everywhere.

Xia Fei had gotten a lot of nice things from the underworld auction, so he went straight to the Boundless Heaven Trading Association in the very center of the city.

The crowds here had thinned out a lot. As the people here were of esteemed and noble status, Xia Fei was unremarkable amid this crowd, especially since he was wearing very plain clothes. After all, the items Xia Fei had were not exactly clean, so changing his appearance and being inconspicuous was necessary.

A young woman soon led Xia Fei into an appraisal room, where a shifty-looking fatty was yawning in a chair. It was early in the morning, so he could not be blamed for his lack of energy.

Xia Fei sat on the seat across from him. On the table was the appraiser’s certificate, indicating that he was a level 1 appraiser from the Boundless Heaven Trading Association, Jin Quanyou.

“Is there anything I can help you with, sir?” Appraiser Jin casually inquired. Xia Fei did not seem like somebody particularly rich, so his attitude naturally was not that welcoming. He was only being polite because of the trade association’s rules, or else he might have straight up ignored Xia Fei.

Xia Fei replied, “I want to sell some things.”

Jin Quanyou extended a hand. “Then please take them out.”

Xia Fei smiled. This room was only twenty square meters, and if Xia Fei took out everything, the room would probably burst apart.

“There’s no rush,” Xia Fei said, lighting a cigarette. “I have to say a few things first: One, I’d like the trade association to guarantee its secrecy on these items. Two, there are a lot of items, and this room isn’t big enough.”

Jin Quanyou pursed his lips and impatiently said, “The Boundless Heaven Trading Association has always kept the identity of its clients a secret. Even if the items you’re selling can’t see the light of day, we’ll take them all without a word. Can you relax now? Sir, please let me see what it is that you want to sell.”

Xia Fei did not like Jin Quanyou’s attitude, so he once more emphasized, “There’s a lot. This room can’t fit everything.”

“Sir, it’s fine. You may show a portion of the items. If you don’t show me anything, I can’t give you an appraisal.” Jin Quanyou picked his nose with his pinky, an arrogant look on his face.

Xia Fei shrugged. “Alright, you’re the one who said it.”

Xia Fei took off his deerskin backpack and placed it on the table. Inside were three thousand-some spatial rings of various sizes containing all the items from the auction.

*Whoosh!*

Xia Fei randomly grabbed one, and a shocking event transpired. A small mountain of various items instantly appeared in the room, tumbling down like a river. Jin Quanyou was sitting right in the middle of the river, and a shortsword very impolitely pierced through his outer clothes, almost injuring him.

Xia Fei smiled. Pointing at the pile of spatial rings, he asked, “Do you need me to open them all?”
