Chapter 548: Taking The Kill

Chapter 548: Taking The Kill

Competition Ground, Capital.

“There is a problem!” Valko suddenly entered the control room with a nervous face and it immediately got the students inside tensed.

Valko had been trapped inside one of the skyscraper which had been surrounded by a tons of beast. But later Axel had a formed a group with the students of the different Academies suggesting a plan to borrow some of the equipment from that place.

In the end, he not only got the equipment’s but even got Valko out.

“What’s wrong?” Axel asked as he looked at him.

“Its Orca! Erina is fighting Alen outside. And a lot of people had gone down due to poison..” His words immediately made people frown and the atmosphere in the room changed.

It would have been fine if it was anyone else but the poison guy. After all, poison users were usually mass murderers. You definitely didn’t want one of them as your enemy.

“Boom!”

A loud noise came from outside and people could see flames rising up above into the sky. The impact shook the ground and immediately led to the activation of the defense formations.

“I am going above for a second,” Axel suddenly stood up as he picked the case which had been kept near his table and moved towards the terrace with his headphones still on and the transmission going on.

….

“Boom!”

Another explosion rang out and flames erupted like tide engulfing the area and burning nearby objects to cinders. Most of the students had backed off from the area as it had become too tensed for them to interfere between the fight of the two celestials.

Both Erina and Alen were wrecking a havoc near the base and had already exchanged hundreds of blow.

Most of the students around had tried to back Erina up but it really was getting in her way rather than helping her as the fight had gotten chaotic and her flames really made visibility low. In such a situation it was very tough for these students to support her as one couldn’t guarantee whom they would end up hitting with their spell.

So only those who were a bit confident about their aiming skills dared to fire a spell or two while the rest could only watch them go at each others throat.

Still, the person with the advantage was becoming very obvious to everyone as the fight continued.

Erina was gaining the upper hand and pressure was mounting on the injured Alen.

He had participated in the fight near the Commanding Beast’s nest and had suffered injuries like most of the people around the place as well but Erina on the other hand had been tranquilized by Axel that night saving her from any kind of severe injuries. And now it was playing a vital role in this fight. It seemed fate was playing its game and Alen was destined to lose in his current state.

“Bang!”

Erina’s flaming avatar suddenly smashed its shield into Alen and sent him crashing half the way through the main streets of the city.

“Clang!”

The guy smashed into a car on the street before flipping over and then rolling a few more meters across the concrete pavement before coming to a stop.

“Splash!”

Blood gushed out of his mouth dying the street red as he turned around to look at Erina who was slowly approaching him probably to deal a final blow.

When she finally reached up to him the guy wasn’t even moving. It was clear Alen had exhausted himself and had nothing left anymore.

“I said your tricks weren’t going to work today.”

Alen suddenly smiled at her, “Do you really think that I am a person who will lay all his cards out?”

Erina snorted at him, “You can’t bluff. I am sure there is no poison in my body as well as in my surroundings.”

“How sure are you?” A smile leaked out on Alen’s face and Erina immediately a feeling a danger creeping up her spine.

Wanting to not take any risks, she immediately struck with her blade.

The flaming blade almost reached Alen’s face within less than a second but before it could strike, Erina’s hand froze and her eyes twitched.

A drop of blood suddenly leaked out of the corner of her lips and the next instant a whole lot of it gushed out of her mouth dying her clothes red as she staggered backwards.

In the end, she gritted her teeth and held her ground but her flaming Avatar had half disappeared leaving behind only a partial figure formed of flames with only one hand and a sword in it.

“You were close, but you lacked knowledge on poisons,” Alen said with a laugh as he slowly got back up on his shaking legs and inched towards her.

“Have you heard of the petals of Visia and Cinathon? The two are not poisonous alone but what about when mixed together?” He further asked as he looked at her, “This is my Two Phased True Spell, each one are nothing without others. Its the one of the only poisonous trap which wouldn’t be noticed by the enemy until they are really poisoned.”

Erina’s face turned dark as she looked at him. She had known he was most talented genius of poison element to have ever appeared in the history of Blackwood House but she didn’t realized the words meaning in true sense until now.

Purple miasma began to leak out of Alen’s hand as he raised his hand and attempted to grab her neck.

Erina tried her best to move but she still needed a bit to of time to suppress the poison coursing through her body and it didn’t seem that Alen had any plans on allowing her to have that time.

As the hand inched towards Erina’s neck and were almost about to touch her, a sharp whistling noise sounded through the air and Alen’s eyes widened when a bullet broke apart Erina’s bangs hanging down beside her neck and struck him right in his chest.

“Zmmn!”

Alen’s body shook and staggered backwards as his eyes shifted towards the distance building only to see a guy with a sniper rifle waving his hand at him. The next instant, a white light covered his collapsing body and he disappeared from the place.

Erina stood there with a dumbfounded face. When the guy had finally disappeared, she reacted and touched her hair falling down to the left of her neck. It was only then that she found out that a good bunch of them had been snapped in half after being destroyed by the bullet.

She then turned around to see Axel packing up his sniper rifle on the top of the radio station. It seemed he hadn’t left his position as the commander of the operation and had still managed to shoot Alen at the right moment. Saving Erina as well as eliminating him.
