The Ancient Genes

Chapter 570: Working On the Plan

Chapter 570: Working On the Plan

Meeting Hall, Trinity.

“What do you guys think?” Max asked them with a smile. He wanted to see if they really could suggest some sound plan and back it up with good reasons. If not, there was no way he was going to give them any commanding position. Even if the Ancient Families had asked for this people to be included, they had to show him their ability first.

As the guys began to go through the details, Max did the same. After all, he had just received it and had no idea from before hand and that too was the girl’s fault. He regretted not kicking her one more time.

‘Hmmn..’

According to the information, Trinity didn’t have one of the main seven base apparently and only had a smaller branch. And even with that, the reports warned him of 30-50 Master Tier Mages being present with three Grandmaster Tier Mage in support who ranged from the early stage to the mid stage of the Tier.

As for experts below Master Tier, they were estimated in hundreds. That was a large number considering this was one of the stronghold of the Noble Houses. And yet Dark Society had managed to sneak so many of their people inside.

This probably wasn’t possible with internal help.

“Is there any mole in the Roxley House?” Max suddenly asked looking at the elderly man and the people around the place paused to look at him.

The elderly man’s face changed and he smiled before pulling out another file from his storage artifact and throwing it in front of Max.

Max couldn’t help but roll his eyes at him. He had deliberately held back information to test the people. It seemed that they were not going to spoon fed them.

Anyway, Max shook his head and went over the file which listed the known transactions between the people of Roxley House and the Dark Society. It really varied a lot going from small purchase of material to big assassination missions.

The one to catch his attention all among them was actually the Butler of the Lady Melinda. This guy seemed to be a regular visitor of an underground brothel. Max doubted that the guy would retain the job if the fact came out.

The second person to catch his eye was the Omen Roxley, the second elder of the Roxley Family. He was the son of the Former Lord’s brother. It seemed he has been to Killers Square in the Underground market a lot. It was not known whom he targeted for though but it speculated that it was someone from the Barnes House.

Max opened a another file and went over it as well and it was true. After each his visit, there was someone who had been attack on the Barnes side including the Lord. But something felt off here.

You really didn’t need to make a personal visit for this. The Dark Society just needed money and they would take the task. Wasn’t this foolish of him to go out himself and take the chances of being found out?

The Butler’s case was a bit understandable as the guy had to the job himself and getting it done by others wasn’t going to work for him.

“You have the same kind of records for the Barnes?” Max asked looking at the elderly man and he smiled with interest before handing it out to Max.

Other’s were busy with their own work while the people down the staged had dispersed for now as they were here just for the introduction and it had been done in a way they were definitely not expecting.

It was entertaining though so they shouldn’t have any complaints.

‘Sure enough, the Barnes have retaliated by sending assassins as well,’ Max muttered inwardly. But there was something which piqued his interest here. The Barnes family had retaliated but it seemed that the most of the responsibility had been borne by the Roxley Lord and most of the attacks were on him while the main culprit had taken the backstage.

Max began to flip through every file he had available on events which had some connection between Roxley and Barnes. He wouldn’t get any better chance to know about the situation between two houses.

‘Interesting..’ Max suddenly smiled when a pleasant information caught his eyes and he almost wanted to laugh out loud.

It seemed that the Barnes Lord and Lady Roxley were still in contact and don’t take it wrongly. The two want to eliminate the deep rooted hatred between the two families. But unfortunately, each of their partner would get jealous if their interaction would come out so they had to do it secretly and it didn’t seem to be working for now.

‘Is this why she has such favorable impression of Lear,’ Max finally understood why Lady Melinda was so positive to Lear and allowed Lora the freedom to freely interact with him. After all, technically the two could be made into another story of Romeo and Juliet if they went by the script but it was totally opposite here.

It seemed Max and Melinda had the same goal.

‘Its good to have such an ally on the side,’ Max smiled.

As he continued to go through the records, a frown began to appear on his face. This Omen Roxley didn’t seem to be simple. This guy had actually conducted a huge deal with the Black Market purchasing arms and resources for god knew what.

The Ancient Families knew all of this but they never took any action, it was clear that they wouldn’t interfere in the working of the normal world. After all as long as the structure remain, someone else would come and fit in. If they began to interfere in each and every matter, it would lead to unrest as well as restrain the natural growth of these people.

And Max understood it as well, it was once again the case of the ‘greater good’ and hence everything thing was fine.

After all, even the word unnecessary had necessary in it…

For light to exist you had to experience the darkness or else there would be no value in light..

The saying truly fitted the situation here.

“How about we target the main base during the competition? We won’t attract much attention evacuating the people during that time,” Ragnar said as he brought out the map of the Trinity. There was a quite a distance between Trinity Academy and the Dark Society base here. If they really could surround the area from one side and get the people out, it would be easy to deal with the enemies.

“How are we going to manage our people? We need a lot of people to form a barricade around here..” Argus said as he took the marker and drew a line where they needed people in place. “If we want the Expert Tiers to form a barricade, then we have to make sure not a single Master Tier would escape from us or else it will be disastrous..”

“Can’t we get the Association and Union to move along with us?” Bell asked as he looked at the Elderly man and he just replied with a smile, “What you do from here on is your own choice and we won’t provide anything else..”

“Then we have to contact them on our own..” Ragnar muttered calmly.

“No we won’t approach them for now..” Max suddenly spoke and his words indeed made people around frown.

“Why?” Ragnar couldn’t help but ask.

“I don’t trust them,” Max replied with a calm look. There was no way he was going to approach them way before the time. Otherwise he was sure that the Ovens would perfectly do their job.

“Don’t be unreasonable…I am sure the top brass won’t refuse our request for a meet up and there is no way for the information to leak from such a place.” Ragnar argued, he didn’t think Max was being reasonable after all, not trusting them was just not enough of an answer to satisfy everyone.

“We will use the Mercenary here instead of the Association and the Union..I will get in contact with them and these guys won’t ask for information as long as there is money.” Max ignore his argument and went ahead with the solution. The Zatch Lord knew that Ovens were enemy and he hadn’t taken any step until now meaning there was something in there that he was waiting for. Hence, it was probably better to keep the fact hidden for now.

“Mercenary? Won’t they be weaker than the Mages from Association and the Union?” Bell asked in confusion.

“Maybe..but they just need to hold on for a while until the help from the Association and Union arrives.” Max replied with a smile.

“I thought we weren’t asking them for help?” Ragnar frowned.

“Even if we don’t ask, they will show themselves if we cause a commotion. So, we will inform them about the situation at last moment. It wouldn’t matter then if the information is leaked or not..” Max replied and everyone’s expression changed.

“Won’t this piss them off?” Argus asked with a weird smile on his face.

“Since when did Ancient Family began to be afraid of the Noble Houses?” Max asked with weird smile on his face.

“You aren’t going to have anymore help from our side,” The elderly man intervened while stroking his beard.

“Sir, that fact is know by us and not the them. So, how are they going to find about it if we don’t tell them about it?” Max said with a laugh and it left everyone speechless.
