Chapter 396 - No Complications
Chapter 396: No Complications
At first, he was only a little alarmed by Cheng Yan’s strength.
He had foolishly underestimated Cheng Yan, thinking that he was no match for?Zhang Shou,?City A’s resident tyrant.
Now, it was clear that he had been mistaken.
Cheng Yan had rattled on some of?Zhang Shou’s crimes without flinching, when he shouldn’t have been privy to this information to begin with!
A part of Zhang Shou?wanted to cut his losses and just flee, but his ego forbade him to run like a coward.
He had been publicly humiliated, after all.
With this thought, he looked at Qin Man?and snarled. “Madam Yao, you’ve really done a good job, haven’t you?”
Qin Man was caught off-guard, and she could only blink at him in panic.
She opened her mouth to explain, but Zhang Shou?had already turned away before she could get a word out.
“A lot of girls would fall over themselves just to get the chance to marry me. I have no intention of treating some damaged goods like a priceless treasure, regardless of its beauty. Coming here was a complete waste of my precious time!”
Zhang Shou dusted himself and cradled his injured hand, ready to leave the scene.
No sooner had he taken a step toward the door than Cheng Yan?spoke, his cold voice making?Zhang Shou?freeze on the spot.
“Where do you think you’re going?”
Zhang Shou felt a chill run down his spine.
He slowly turned around and offered Cheng Yan?a tight, apologetic smile.

“Look, here. Why don’t we call it a day and just forget about everything, hmm? Who knows, we might run into each other again in the future, forging business deals, setting up joint projects, things like that. It wouldn’t be good to have this misunderstanding between us, would it? I swear, I wouldn’t have bothered with that girl if I knew she was under your protection.”
“Oh?” Cheng Yan?drawled. “But you’ve already incurred my wrath. What do you think I should do if you’re not keen on satisfying my rage?”
“I—How” Zhang Shou?stammered. “Please, what did I do to warrant your anger?”
“Let’s see… There’s your hideous face and your wretched attitude. I’m afraid that your mere presence is more than enough to upset me.”
This, of course, meant that Cheng Yan?was never going to let?Zhang Shou?off no matter what.
Zhang Shou’s nostrils flared, and he huffed in outrage.
If it weren’t for the information Cheng Yan?had on him, he would have beaten up the boy to infinity and beyond.
Unfortunately, he could only sigh in resignation. “All right. I apologize for offending you. Please allow me to leave your sight and ease your distress.”
“Ah!” Cheng Yan?exclaimed, making?Zhang Shou?jump. “But you’ve been tainting my vision for a while now.”
Zhang Shou’s eyes narrowed. What did he want now?
“Aren’t you just looking for trouble?” he sneered at Cheng Yan. “Someone sent you here to mess with me on purpose, right?”
“What do you think?”
Cheng Yan slowly cracked his knuckles, his playful expression turning cold.
Guessing what he planned to do, Yao Tang?nudged him with her elbow. “Don’t break anything in the shop,” she calmly told him.
“Not to worry, my family owns it.”
In the blink of an eye, Cheng Yan?landed a roundhouse kick on?Zhang Shou.
He moved so fast that no one knew what happened until the latter was slumped on the floor.
Cheng Yan’s shoe had planted itself on Zhang Shou’s face, breaking his nose and almost smashing his front teeth in.
He flew several feet away and crumpled on his knees.
Zhang Shou swayed there for a couple of seconds, before falling to his side with a heavy thud.
He had barely come back to his senses when a foot pressed against his stomach, almost making him retch with pain.
And then another kick fell on his thigh, just a few inches away from his crown jewels.
“Save me!” Zhang Shou?screamed at his men.
To his dismay, he found them in far worse conditions than his. They hadn’t even managed to get back on their feet yet!
Cheng Yan wasted no time and began to exact the retribution he had been previously threatened with. Not once did he let up with his onslaught.
Pretty soon, Zhang Shou?was nothing more than a writhing, wailing mass of agony curled up on the floor.
To say that he deeply regretted his actions would be a gross understatement.
The customers quickly fled to the door as the sound of his cries filled the establishment. They shared the same sentiments—fear, shock, disgust.
But no one bothered to call the police.
They all knew that Zhang Shou?was not a good person, so why should they stop him from getting beaten up?
Most of them disliked the man, anyway. They felt that it was only right for him to be taught a lesson that was long overdue.
And since it was the powerful young man who was doing God’s work, they were confident that there wouldn’t be any complications in the aftermath of the incident.
