Chapter 251 - Majestic World Tree

Chapter 251 – Majestic World Tree

In truth, it was not that there were no crows that flew back to check, but it was because Wei Xiao Bei saw that when they quietly appeared, they had carelessly bumped into the fog of ice, instantly turning into ice status and breaking into pieces as they landed on the ground.

When the Frost Giants had left a certain distance, Wei Xiao Bei went forward to inspect the ground that they had passed through. Wei Xiao Bei touched the ice trail that they left and felt the piercing cold invade his fingertips. In the end, he had dissipated the cold after circulating his qi.

What a powerful frost!

Just the temperature was at least 30 degrees below zero.

Wei Xiao Bei frowned. As a human being, he was too disadvantaged if he wanted to deal with the Frost Giants.

He might appear to be sturdy, but if he was naked, the most he could handle would only be 10 degrees below zero. Anything colder would make Wei Xiao Bei shiver, and if he fought with the Frost Giants, he would bump into the fog of ice.

If that happened, his downfall would not be any prettier than those crows.

Luckily, the insulation of the reindeer skin was not bad.

Wei Xiao Bei looked at the direction the crows left and hesitated. In the end, he chased after the tracks of the Frost Giants and moved towards the World Tree.

From the looks of it, the best choice might be to follow the crows and eliminate four of them to increase his health to 60 points.

However, after considering that the crows were already frightened, Wei Xiao Bei realized that killing them would be a long process.

With Wei Xiao Bei’s current speed, chasing after them was not an easy thing to do.

Crows might not be the best at flying among birds, but their speed was not something easily comparable to land animals. Moreover, the crows in the Dust World were not the same as ones in the real world, and they had a deep history.

The only headache Wei Xiao Bei had was that the Frost Giants were slow.

Although they were powerful, they were slow due to their body sizes, but they should be able to speed up a bit more when moving in a straight line.

However, for who knew what reason, the Frost Giants were advancing slowly.

When the fairy finally wiped its clothes clean with great difficulty, it told Wei Xiao Bei about the Frost Giants.

The Frost Giants were not creatures influenced by the World Tree. Their base of operations was outside the boundary of the World Tree, the Abandoned Lands. It was hard to find them in places that had a higher temperature.

Thus, the fairy felt that it was strange for them to appear.

Wei Xiao Bei did not know why he was following them, but he could faintly sense that something important was about to happen if he continued to follow them.

Whether it was going to be good or bad, he did not know, but the only thing he was clear about was that it was not very dangerous.

As he followed the Frost Giants’ advance, Wei Xiao Bei had idle time to take care of himself.

Under the guidance of the the fairy, Wei Xiao Bei found a small puddle.

For the small fairy, this was a very easy thing to do with its [Innate Magic Tricks].

The puddle was not big with only a width of two meters and depth of half a meter.

Under the fairy’s heavy protest, Wei Xiao Bei could not help but let the fairy take a bath first. Only after it was finished, did Wei Xiao Bei remove the reindeer skin and jump in.

So comfortable.

Although the water was cold, it reached the terrible itches on Wei Xiao Bei’s body and enabled him to clean them off. It was simply like drinking the finest wine.

When he jumped in the water, the inside of the puddle had turned red.

Wei Xiao Bei rubbed off the blood and dirt while looking at the fairy use its magic to clean its clothes with  slight envy.

Its [Innate Magic Tricks] could only do small things, but it was enough of a convenience.

Turning its clothes clean was enough to make Wei Xiao Bei feel the urge to learn it.

Naturally, this was only a wish as he could not make it a reality at the moment.

This skill was the fairy’s innate skill. Even the fairy itself did not know how to strengthen it, and maybe killing a few monsters in the Dust World would help.

However, the fairy’s battle power was roughly enough to only kill a single black beetle. If it was facing a Fishman, the fairy would be able to evade  the Fishman, but killing the Fishman would be very difficult.

The worst part here was the fairy’s nature.

Fairies were kind hearted in nature. Letting them hold a butcher’s knife was as difficult as letting tigers eat grass.

Thus, increasing a fairy’s power was a difficult thing to do. Moreover, even if a monster waiting to be slaughtered was placed in front of them, they would not make a move. If Wei Xiao Bei forced it to kill, it would destroy their relationship.

After taking a comfortable bath, Wei Xiao Bie jumped out of the puddle and once again draped the reindeer skin.

Although there was still a slight stench of blood, it was a lot better than before as the fairy unwillingly sat on Wei Xiao Bei’s shoulder.

The Frost Giants were slow, but even if they were any slower, they were still faster than a normal running human. Thus, they had disappeared from Wei Xiao Bei’s line of sight long ago.

However, following them was an extremely easy thing to do. The trail of ice that they left behind was the best road indicator.

Soon, Wei Xiao Bei once again caught up with the Frost Giants.

However, they were not at the flat meadows anymore and were instead in the continuous hills.

In reality, Wei Xiao Bei had discovered where the problem was.

The continuous hills were not real hills, but they were big tree roots that protruded out of the ground and were covered with a thick layer of soil, rocks, and dust, making them look like hills.

This was discovered by Wei Xiao Bei when he saw small tree roots exposed to the air.

In truth, these small roots exceeded 30 meters in length.

This showed how enormous the World Tree was.

Following the advance towards the World Tree, its leaves began to cover the sky, and they  shone down on the earth with glimmering green light, providing the plants below their necessities for growth. There were even places that rained, moistening the land.

At this point, the meadows and shrubs that were seen outside had decreased and were replaced by tall trees.

However, at this moment, the trees had met their misfortune at the hands of the Frost Giants.

The large Frost Giants were like bulldozers as they continued their advance. The trees in front of them were all pushed down.

Everywhere the Frost Giants went, the dense forest was parted open.

In truth, their path was not smooth and without problems.

Following their indifferent destruction, the monsters and creatures living inside the forest began their attack.

The fastest to attack were the wild boar and the big wolf. Wei Xiao Bei even saw an 80 meter long python.

Could that long serpent be the descendant of the Midgard Serpent, Jormungand?

Wei Xiao Bei already understood that the creatures in this part of the Dust World had their own origins.

Most of them were descendants of mythical animals and magical beasts of Nordic legends.

Even the Frost Giants might not be an original species.

According to the legends, the first giant born from fire and ice was tens of thousands of meters tall. Afterwards it was killed by Odin, and the blood that flowed out its body created a sea of blood, forcing the Frost Giants and the Fire Giants to run away.

Among the Frost Giants, the shortest should be around a hundred meters tall.

However, the ones in front of him were only more than 10 meters tall. It showed that their might had declined.

However, even if that was the case, these Frost Giants that marched like an army were still able to kill the long snake that should be Jormungand’s descendant and ate it.

The Frost Giants ate until nothing was left of the long snake. Even the bones and marrow were not spared.

This made Wei Xiao Bei who witnessed the scene and wanted to get some of the bones feel at a loss.

The bone marrow that had been sucked by the Frost Giants had turned incredibly brittle. A light bump was enough to turn them into slags.

On the contrary, the Frost Giants that ate the snake appeared to have gotten slightly stronger. Those that were injured in the fight had even began to quickly recover.

Naturally, those Frost Giants that were swallowed by the snake should not even think about living anymore.

Wei Xiao Bei had followed behind the Frost Giants for five whole days!

If it was before, he should have already lost his consciousness and been ejected out of the Dust World.

However, he was now relying on the cowberry glazed reindeer barbecue to support himself.

The only regret he had was that the monsters had ran away whenever the giants passed. He had thought about killing some monsters to reach 8000 points, but this complication had caused him to lose hope.

Wei Xiao Bei looked inside the small amount of reindeer barbecue left in his Small Holding bag and calculated how long he could stay in the Dust World.

Now, it was impossible for him to replenish his supply.

First, he could not make fire. He had a premonition that once he did so, he would attract unnecessary enemies.

Second, he had no more fresh meat.

As they moved closer to the World Tree, its majesty became even clearer.

Naturally, because the World Tree was incredibly huge, Wei Xiao Bei could only see a portion of it.

Its towering canopy had passed the clouds, making its height exceed tens of thousands of meters. Its large trunk was like a large wall that blocked off the world.

Naturally, this scene could only be seen from afar. As they went deeper, the World Tree’s full image could not be seen anymore. The only thing that could be seen was the wall-like trunk and its protruding roots.

The group of Frost Giants finally stopped their advance.
