Chapter 268: King
Chapter 268: King
"8.4.....percent...? How is that possible?" Hao Xuan looked up at Red for answers but only found him staring back at him with a vacant expression.
"Y-You don't know either..?"
Red shook his head to confirm what Hao Xuan had already concluded. None of them knew exactly what level of bloodline purity they had reached.
From the memories that had awakened for Hao Xuan, he knew that there were three initial threshold levels that signified a change in a being's bloodline.
The first threshold was at 5% blood purity level.
Once the being reached this level, their bloodline would have to be decided. From then onward, only the chosen bloodline could be matured further.
The second threshold was at 10% blood purity level. When the being reached 10% purity, Hao Xuan could use his other newly awakened ability, "Extraction", to "copy" a single ability or skill from each of his severs.
He would not have the option to decide WHICH ability he could choose. It would be selected at random but a number of factors such as the total abilities/skills, mastery of each ability/skill, etc could affect it.
The 25% threshold would usher in the first 'true evolution'. The creature's outer appearance would change drastically here and they would take on the forms of their ancestors, as well as gaining full physical control over their own bodies and wakening many more abilities.
Only at this level could they consider to have fully awakened their bloodlines and walk on the same path as so many others, or even bring in a mutation and take a different one. Either way, 25% was the most important threshold.
Hao Xuan had decided to wait until the severs reached 25% purity and then 'Extract' an ability from a larger and perhaps 'better' pool.
Many ideas fleeted in and out of Hao Xuan's mind. He looked up and met Red's expectant gaze once again.
"I'll start gathering things for you as well. Go and buy some better axes tomorrow since you have an affinity with them."
The light in Red's eyes slightly dimmed upon hearing Hao Xuan's words but he still bowed from the waist and silently moved back. Now it was Green's turn.
"Inspect."
Species: Divine Ape
Bloodline: Colossal Storm Ape
Blood Purity Level: 8.1%
Abilities: Field of Dominance, Combat sense, Superhuman Strength, Cloudburst
Skills: Unarmed Combat Mastery
"Not bad," Hao Xuan nodded contently after seeing Green's bloodline.
He thought it might be related to nature since the color of his original appearance was green as well, but thankfully that wasn't the case.
The Colossal Storm Ape was a divine beast with the ability to create literal cyclones and thunderstorms with every swing of his hand.
They didn't need any weapons to fight and could hold their own in any fight. They were masters of hand to hand combat with an unmatched combat sense. They were natural born fighters.
"Very good. I'm not sure what your attribute is but I'll do some research and order the required materials," he smiled at Green who also gave a deep bow and moved aside.
Hao Xuan picked up Black and White from, his shoulders and placed them on his lap. They both looked up at him with big gleaming eyes.
Hao Xuan would have never thought he would ever say this, but dear god were these little worms cute.
"Alright, now it's your turn," he rubbed the top of their heads and scratched the underside of their maws. He was going to inspect both of them at once.
"Don't move now," he whispered gently before placing his right palm over their heads.

*Blink*Blink*
"O-Oi, is this...right?"
Hao Xuan was having a hard time believing the words he just saw.
White had the bloodline of the fearsome Nine headed Hydra, a creature that was claimed to be unkillable. Whenever one of its heads was cut off, two more would grow in its place. It could grow to a size that a star could fit in each of its maws.
Whereas Black had the bloodline of an Abyss Eater Basilisk, whatever the hell that was.
He had no information regarding this species. It wasn't even mentioned in any of the books he had read.
'How are their bloodlines different? Aren't they twins?'
"Baracus, can twins have different bloodlines?"
"Yes and No. It can happen but it's exceptionally rare to the point of being considered a mutation, albeit less so in beasts since their genetic structure is much different from humans and they evolve faster."
"Mhm, do you know anything about something called "Abyss Eater Basilisk"? Any information at all will do."
"Nope. I have information on normal basilisks but not the Abyss Eater kind. It could very well be a completely new bloodline."
"I...hope it isn't. A new bloodline would NOT be easy to mature. What do you know about basilisks then?"
"I'm sure you've heard about it as well. They are cursed creatures reputed to be Kings among their kind. Absolutely ruthless to the point that even a single glance from them could extinguish the life out of other beings."
"There aren't too many of them alive since they are killed off at a very young age. A fully grown basilisk is akin to a natural disaster, one that can only be avoided and never fought head-on."
Hao Xuan looked down at Black who was already playfully biting his finger and couldn't even imagine him as the so-called ruthless "Serpent King".
The same went for White who was bitting down on Black's tail for some reason while the other party completely ignored him.
He had picked them just over a year ago and even though their original forms were vicious and savage to others, to him they couldn't be any less dangerous.
*Sigh*
"Serpent king and Draconic Hydra, eh? I'm looking forward to your true forms then," he smiled at them while mumbling to himself.
*Tremble*
The earth shook, throwing Hao Xuan down to the ground.
No, everything shook. An earthquake of at least a 7 magnitude suddenly hit the city of Fortuna, followed by an explosion so loud that every single glass window within the radius of 150 kilometers shattered.
*BOOOOOM*
A mushroom cloud rose high into the air from the outer city, shortly followed by blaring sirens.
Hao Xuan's watch vibrated. It was a message from First.
"Do not go outside no matter what. If anyone approaches you, run to the nearest military installation."
