Chapter 371: Information Dump
Chapter 371: Information Dump
"You want me...to beg someone to let me join?"
Wu Jin nodded earnestly, "Yes."
"Hmm," Hao Xuan got up and started pacing around the room while scratching his chin. A couple of seconds later he suddenly looked at Wu Jin with shimmering eyes as if a great idea popped into his mind.
"Okay tell you what, how about I whoop your a*s, and then you go do whatever the hell you have to to get me into the tournament. That sound good?" he asked with a kind smile.
Wu Jin froze where he was when he sensed the seriousness in Hao Xuan's voice.
'He'll really do it!'
When he saw Hao Xuan walk towards him while cracking his knuckles, he quickly waved his hands.
"Wait wait, I was kidding! I have a plan, I swear!"
Hao Xuan paused mid-stride and looked at him coldly, "You have 30 seconds."
"I have a friend. He can get you in, trust me. You just have to do him a favor. That's it!"
"What kind of favor?" Hao Xuan asked suspiciously.
"I really don't know, I swear. But it won't be anything outrageous. He is a good friend of mine and I've known him since we were both kids," Wu Jin explained.
"Alright, call him over right now."
"I did, but you need to know a few things before he gets here, please..." Wu Jin could feel Hao Xuan's patience running out so he put on his best puppy dog eyes and pleaded.
It had the opposite effect on Hao Xuan and pissed him off even more, but he held back and didn't say anything before hearing him out first. He didn't want to be completely unreasonable after all.
*Sigh*
"Fine, go ahead," Hao Xuan sat back down and took out a fruit juice from the storage space.
"Haha, thank you," Wu Jin said with a fake smile.
He was a young master of the Wu Clan yet right now he had to act like this in front of a random human. His mother would kill herself from embarrassment if she ever found out.
"There are a few basic things that people in my position would always know. My friend knows that I won't simply befriend a nobody so you have to at least act like you're from the same social circle as me. Now, the most important thing to know is the history of the academy and the forces behind it."
Wu Jin started his explanation while Hao Xuan listened intently.
"The academy and the city's below it are currently run by three major clans. Namely the Wu Clan, the Biric Clan, and the Lynn Clan. The Wu Clan as you very well know is of my ancestor, the Nine-tailed Fox."
"The Biric Clan is the largest Elf clan in the beast world and is made up of thousands of smaller Elf clans like the Wood-elves, the Dark elves etc. My friend is also from the Biric Clan. The Biric Clan is the biggest of the three and has the most people working in and around the academy."
"The last one, the Lynn Clan, is a clan of Pixie Fairies. They don't really bother with the academy much and do their own thing, but all of them can use extremely powerful magics and spirit attacks so don't ever underestimate them."
Hao Xuan was amazed by the sudden information dump and he had a few questions of his own.
"Do the fairies and elves look like from the stories?"
"What do you mean?"
"Like the elves are supposed to be eternally beautiful creatures that have extremely long lifespans, long ears, tall and stuff. And the pixie fairies are these little creatures of light with wings. Do they have all that?"
"Well, the elves are actually like that. They all look very feminine if you ask me but are wildly popular with human females for some reason. And the fairies are just like us. Relatively normal sized but they do have wings on their backs and all of them are capable of flight from birth."
"Damn, so some of the stories are true then?" Hao Xuan mumbled.
"Wait, you mean you heard these things back on your planet?" Wu Jin asked curiously.
"Yeah."
"Someone had a loose mouth it seems..." Wu Jin murmured.
"Oh, by the way, you said something about the farm planet, like the one I came from. What are they?"
"Hmm? Oh, I was gonna tell you about them anyway. Farm planets are created by beings that stand at the very top of the cultivation world. They make these planets and then move a few species there, one per planet of course. Yours only had humans I'm guessing."
"Anyways, the point is to help these planets reach a new tier of power. Just like us, planets can also evolve. Once they have an acceptable population of cultivators, they slowly develop what's called a guardian spirit. The guardian spirit controls the entire planet and is its soul basically. It levels up as its population slowly gains sentience and becomes stronger."
"But what's the point of that? Why not send high-level cultivators to live there instead? Wouldn't that be faster?" Hao Xuan asked with a raised brow.
Wu Jin shook his head.
"No, it has to happen naturally, the process cannot be forced otherwise the guardian spirit can become twisted. And there are 2 main reasons we create these planets. One, to get a new understanding or perhaps develop a new cultivation level. And two, so we can move deeper into the outer space."
"You see, space is not as empty as most people think. It is littered with dangers at every turn and normal planets won't survive out there for long. The creatures of the abyss and monsters and demons from other realms and worlds can easily break the veil and come to our universe. Deep within the void there live all kinds of nightmarish creatures. And only planets with guardian spirits are able to provide a sanctuary from all that....horror."
"Usually, a planet is created and left alone in a pocket of space where time flows much faster than here. The solar system is more or less the same for each planet though. And then occasionally we will send people to the planet to help guide them. But if there is no progress by the time the species reaches space travel, we send the occupants to one of the bigger worlds and start a new."
Wu Jin took in a deep breath. He saw Hao Xuan's completely shocked expression and decided to show off a bit.
"You know, my clan owns 3 farm planets as well. The elves have 5 and the fairies have 3 as well. I've even been to one of them," he said proudly.
