Chapter 411: Hero Continued
Chapter 411: Hero Continued
Hao Xuan lightly slapped him on the back of his head, leaving him stunned.
"It's a baby. A sleeping baby. How the hell is he dangerous?" Hao Xuan asked, enraged.
"Exactly! He is barely two years old and not even conscious but the magic he is giving off is able to change reality itself, change the physical world! Do you have any idea what that means?" Gavril yelled in a quivering voice. Hao Xuan could feel the fear in his voice.
"This kid is born with such strength the likes of which have rarely ever been seen. It could topple the balance of power wherever he goes. Whoever is able to control him will not be easy to deal with!"
Seeing Hao Xuan's expression that was getting worse and worse, Gavril stopped and took a deep breath, regaining his composure.
"Listen to me. This child's life will not be easy. If he is lucky, the people in control will brainwash him and use him as a weapon. If not, they could just repress his mind, replace his soul, and turn him into a puppet. But no matter what, he will never have a single moment of freedom in his entire life. He is far too powerful! Most people will want to kill or control him. If he can even survive long enough that is."
Hao Xuan was at a loss for words after hearing his explanation. There was no reason for him to lie, not that he was. It all made sense. Hao Xuan was indignant at what the future held for him.
"I may not be a saint but I haven't fallen so low as to take a child's life, especially one that is just beginning," he said unshaken by Gavril's explanation.
Gavril shook his head, "You don't have to do anything, let me. He won't even feel a thing. He simply won't wake up from a nice dream. It will be painless and quick, it's the right thing to do."
Hao Xuan's nostrils flared up in fury.
"Shut the fuck up! How dare you! Who gave you the right to decide for him? A child is as innocent as it gets. They are free of sin, of any crimes and transgressions. And I will not stand by while a life such as that is taken by one of my own people."
Gavril was equally as incensed by his response.
"Then will you leave him to his fate? One that will have him live a life of pain and misery, of being lied to and tricked?"
'"It doesn't matter! Enough of this."'
Hao Xuan ordered using the power of the constitution, silencing Gavril for a few minutes.
They both stood in place, looking at the basket with complicated eyes for several minutes before Gavril spoke up again.
"Then...then at least take him under your control. Do to him what you did to us. That way you can make sure he lives a normal life," he suggested but Hao Xuan shook his head with any hesitation.
"Do you really think I never thought of that? Unless forced by circumstances or left without any other option, I won't do that to an innocent person. I would have never done it to you either if there was another choice."
"Then what? Just leave him like this?"
Hao Xuan thought for a few seconds before letting out a deep sigh.
"Use your ability on him. Do NOT kill him, but instead seal his power. Can you do that so it won't be found by others? "
"I can seal it without much of a problem since he won't resist. As long as no one has the same type of abilities as me, they won't find the seal unless it breaks on its own."
"Good. You said you could go into people's dreams right?"
"....Yeah."
"Make him an anchor then. When he grows up a little I will talk to him through the dreams, explain everything, and undo the seal then if he wants it."
"This...will not be easy for the child. I can seal his powers but that will include everything. He won't have any magic whatsoever and he won't be able to cultivate Qi either. He will be a normal human being until the seal is undone."
"That's better than dying now or being controlled by others for the rest of his life. Do it."
Gavril stood over the infant boy and started mumbling something while doing unknown hand gestures. As soon as he started, the entire space shook. One by one everything was disintegrating as the source of the magic was being cut off.
Hao Xuan stood in the distance looking at the boy. Many thoughts racing through his mind.
'Doesn't it sound like a hero's tale? One of those novels where a normal kid suddenly becomes powerful? But I hope you don't disappoint me kid. Don't grow up to be an asshole yeah?'
A minute later the only thing that was left was the oak tree they were standing on. There was only darkness surrounding them. Gavril looked towards Hao Xuan and gestured for him to come over.
"The seal will go completely into place when he wakes up, we will also be kicked out of here then."
"Hmm," Hao Xuan nodded. He bent down and picked up the boy.
"Hey little man, wake up!" he lightly pinched his cheek, succeeding in the first try.
*BZZT*
The dreaming space started disintegrating and a second later Hao Xuan appeared in the hallway once again with the child in his arms.
He could once again hear the loud music of the party not far from him.
"Finally!" he let out a breath of relief. He checked the time but only a few minutes had passed even though he was in that space for over two hours.
Amazed once again, he looked down at the drowsy face looking up at him with crystal blue eyes.
"You really are something eh..." he said jokingly and walked towards the hall, opened the door, and entered.
"Yo, whose kid is this? He was sleeping outside by the corridor!"
