Chapter 505: Invoked
Chapter 505: Invoked
"Sever!"
Hao Xuan's palm glowed with a pale white light that fell on the spider's crisp carcass. He closed his eyes and felt the newly established soul connection.
"Looks like it worked," he mumbled watching the spider hover on the brink of life and death. A couple more seconds and it would have died but now it was being slowly pulled back.
Its life essence started to regenerate on its own, albeit very slowly. But even though Hao Xuan gained a new sever, his face was completely devoid of every emotion other than poorly concealed anger. He had to physically stop himself from killing the spider where it laid.
"There is no death without my permission. From now until I see fit, you will serve me without question," Hao Xuan muttered slowly and stood up. He waved his hand and the spider vanished.
The Scorpion King who was standing behind him with a lowered head instinctively took a step back as well.
Hao Xuan turned his head halfway and looked at him from the corner of his eye, "You don't seem to grasp the true reality of your situation," he said while turning to face him completely.
The Scorpion King's foot lifted once again to take another step back but, "'Stop'" Hao Xuan ordered with the constitution's power and he froze in that exact position.
*Tap*
*Tap*
*Tap*
Hao Xuan walked up to him until he could meet Scorpion King's lowered gaze. Both the pair of eyes, one more beastly than the other but also more fearful.
The Scorpion King opened his mouth, "I-" but was stopped by a single look from Hao Xuan.
Hao Xuan had to raise his head to meet Scorpion king's gaze. Most of his hair were burned during the crash landing so he didn't have long hair anymore, just a few inches long.
"My word is absolute and my will, eternal. You breathe only because I allow it. The next time you disobey my order, it will be the last time you draw breath. Remember that, 'Oh King of Beasts'," he finished with a smile and caressed the Scorpion King's carapace.
But to the Scorpion king, that smile was akin to the devil's cackle. A cold chill went down his spine as his knees buckled on their own.
"Yes...master," he replied humbly.
Earlier when Hao Xuan was under attack, the Scorpion king had resisted the urge to help him but he didn't know that Hao Xuan could clearly feel his emotions at the time. The Scorpion King was like an open book in front of him, just like all the other severs.
If at any point they had any thoughts of disobeying him o bringing him harm, not only would Hao Xuan know but if the situation called for it, the constitution would automatically sever the link between them, killing the sever on the spot.
Hao Xuan waved his hand once again and the Scorpion King was recalled back to the Mind Palace.
The middle of the three doors had already closed on its own now and all the other severs back to doing their usual activities.
Only 'Black' was awake and looked around with a confused expression. He was gazing at the pillars in each corner. He stared at each one for a few seconds before giving up and going back to sleep.
The pillars that were covered with glimmering runes left behind by the Old Orc King looked the same to the ordinary eye, but if looked closely, the runes had changed to a completely different set. They were also a lot less radiant than before.

Hao Xuan picked up the sword he had tossed to the ground and leaped towards the treeline. It hadn't been that long since the battle started but he could already hear two groups of people nearing his location.
And now that he couldn't use any Qi and the spider was already his, it was pointless to stay there.
He jumped from tree branch to tree branch and started moving in a circle, planning to go around any incoming visitors.
"Nidhora, can you hear me?" Hao Xuan called out for the Dragon slumbering inside his body.
After a few seconds of silence, her voice rang loudly in his mind.
"What do you want, human?"
She sounded annoyed but now wasn't the right time to argue about it. Even though she was just a shell of her former self, she was still a true dragon once.
"I can't activate your power, something is wrong with my Qi. Can you take a look and see what's wrong?" he requested as politely as he possibly could in such a situation.
A minute later her voice came again, "You have invoked the Law of Chaos. Until you understand it, you won't be able to control the Qi. Unless you have some heavenly treasures like the Blood Moon's Kiss or something like the Death Dealer's talisman."
