Chapter 523: Wonder Continued (1)
Chapter 523: Wonder Continued (1)
"Report to the gate at once!" the announcements repeated over and over again but Hao Xuan didn't move an inch, and neither did Jin Wang.
"Wonder what?" Hao Xuan asked again as an uneasy feeling crept into his heart.
Jin Wang shook his head once, putting the forefinger on his lips, "Not here," his voice rang in Hao Xuan's head. He gestured for him to follow before jumping out of the window.
Left with no other choice, Hao Xuan went after him.
Jin Wang took a route from the back of the dormitory to avoid the rushing students. The route was hidden by a mysterious fog. Only after walking back and forth through the foggy area for several minutes did it become clear again.
Hao Xuan found himself standing in an entirely different place.
There were still trees all around them and it was dark out, but the dormitory was nowhere in sight. The area atop the walking city wasn't that big to begin with so the dormitories and the rows of buildings of the town on the otherwise could be seen from almost everywhere.
But right now Hao Xuan couldn't see any of them. There wasn't even a light anywhere in the distance nor the clamor of the rushing students.
"What is this place?" he inquired while observing the surroundings with a hint of curiosity.
"Over here," Jin Wang pointed towards a random direction. They walked for less than 10 seconds before coming to a clearing.
Hao Xuan was stunned to see they were right next to a mountain. It was so large that he couldn't even see its peak. It seemed to meld in with the darkness, indistinguishable from the night sky.
There were streams of boiling blue water flowing down from the many crevices. It looked like a naturally formed hot spring.
Hao Xuan bent down and felt the warmth of the water.
"Are we still in the city?"
"Yeah," Jin Wang nodded lazily, "I found this place by accident. The city was created using the laws of Space, folding it in on itself over and again. This is one of the many small crevices. It exists in the city but can only be reached if you know what to look for."
There was a bed beside the largest hot spring. It looked like someone had been living there off and on.
"Yours?" Hao Xuan gestured towards it.
Jin Wang nodded, "Of course," and jumped on it. Throwing his shoes off, he lowered his feet into the bubbling water.
"It's a pretty good place. Whoever made the city must have had a profound knowledge into the Laws of Space seeing as how these crevices were created naturally sometime after," Jin Wang explained with a satisfied smile.
"This mountain was used as the center for the creation of the city. It holds it all together. That's why you can see it from everywhere but never reach it. If something happened to the mountain, the city would be ripped to shreds. That's why there is no official record of it."
Hao Xuan peered towards Jin Wang with a raised eyebrow, "Then how do you know?"
"Because I'm a genius," Jin Wang replied with a confident smile as if stating the obvious.
'Another one...' Hao Xuan thought. Another strange thing without an explanation.
"Who are you...really?" he asked in a low voice. There were too many unknowns when it came to Jin Wang, yet even now Hao Xuan didn't feel least bit uncomfortable around him.
Jin Wang looked to his right towards Hao Xuan, meeting his gaze.
"I'll tell you one day, when you're much stronger...when both of us are. Right now it will only bring you trouble," he said in his usual nonchalant tone.
They locked eyes for over 20 seconds before Hao Xuan looked away, "Fine, I'll believe you for now," he said weakly.
Every person has their own secrets to keep and it seemed Jin Wang's were nothing to scoff at. Seeing as there were enough problems to deal with already, Hao Xuan didn't push any further.
"Tell me about Xu Qing then, why did you ask for that? What's going on?"
"Oh yeah, about that," Jin Wang remembered the reason they had come here in the first place. Taking out his feet from the water he turned around to face Hao Xuan.
"I'm actually surprised you were never curious about her. A breathtaking beauty just arrived at your doorstep and you accepted that as normal without a question? Even now after traveling through all these places and meeting so many other beautiful women, have you seen anyone better looking than her?"
"Of course not," Hao Xuan didn't have to think about it. Xu Qing was by far the most beautiful girl he had ever seen. None of these royal children could come even close to her. And it wasn't just her outer beauty either, but the aura and charm she gave off was just too much.
Only Ceni and a couple of others like the Fae princess Cornelia (Ch377) could be mentioned in the same sentence.
Each of them had their own charms that set them apart from the rest.
Jin Wang shook his head disappointingly seeing as Hao Xuan had still not caught on.
"A woman more beautiful than actual faries and those of the ancient bloodlines, yet no one knows about her? No one has heard of her name? If she would only ask, any number of renowned warriors, Kings and even a few Queens would come running to her aid. Yet this seemingly perfect girl is making you food and tending to your needs without so much as a complaint? How is that not weird?"
Hao Xuan was taken aback by Jin Wang's questions but he quickly responded.
"Well, that's because Xu Qing is different. She doesn't want those thin-"
"Hah, love sure is a dog from hell. It can even turn the most competent into blubbering idiots, let alone an inexperienced kid like you," Jin Wang interrupted him. He threw a somewhat disdainful glance towards Hao Xuan before looking away.
"It's pretty obvious she has other intentions, you moron. I just can't figure out what. You're not powerful nor do you have a strong backing. Although considerably lucky in your endeavors, it is nothing shocking. What does she want from you?" Jin Wang mumbled the last two sentences to himself.
But to Hao Xuan's ears, they were prickling insults.
"Is that it? Is that the reason you doubt her?" he asked with a deep frown, annoyed and angry.
Jin Wang realized he had overstepped upon hearing Hao Xuan's tone of voice so he quickly spoke up.
"No no, I don't mean to bring you down but...come on man, you have to see it too right?" he laughed awkwardly, hoping to get a chuckle in response but only receiving a glare, "A-And also, there seems to be some kind of a spell around her," he swiftly gave the other reason for his initial doubt.
"I asked the people that she had met with to describe her, but none of them could recall what she actually looked like. They only used words like "kind" and "beautiful" instead of giving physical descriptions. Can you? Remember what she looks like I mean?" he looked towards Hao Xuan with interest. It was obvious he had been meaning to ask this question from the start.
"Of course I can," Hao Xuan replied without thinking twice, "She has black eyes, black hair...or wait, blue eyes, and black hair? Or....blue hair and black eyes? And is she...tall?"
He had just started the sentence before trailing off, mumbling random things.
"No no, I remember her but...what does she look like...?"
