Chapter 61 - 61 She's A Guest
61 She’s A Guest
Zhou Xiaorou’s eyes were filled with joy upon seeing that Xiawan had arrived. “Wanwan, you’re here! Come in and take a seat. Why are you standing at the door?”
As she spoke, Zhou Xiaorou looked at the girl and asked, “Luo Xing, why did you let the guest stand at the door? Hurry up and let her in.”
Luo Xing finally realized that these two disheveled-looking people were actually her boss’s customers. She immediately felt embarrassed.
She quickly put away her previous arrogance and revealed a kind smile. “Ah, it turns out they’re your friends. I thought they were here to buy medicine, but they came to our house from the shop. I even wanted to persuade them to go to the pharmacy to get the medicine. It’s all my fault.”
Luo Xing then turned to Xia Wan. “Miss, please come in. What would you like to drink? I’ll get it for you.”
Xia Wan didn’t move. She just stared at Luo Xing.
Luo Xing felt a little nervous. ‘This little girl doesn’t look like she’s out in the world. She shouldn’t be so scheming as to complain to Zhou Xiaorou, right?’
Just as Luo Xing was praying in his heart, she heard Xia Wan say to Zhou Xiaorou, “Sis Xiaorou, who is she to your family?”
Zhou Xiaorou did not know what had happened, but she could tell that the atmosphere between Xia Wan and Luo Xing was not right. She said, “She’s the nanny our family hired. My husband and I have to work, but we have a two-year-old child at home, and we can’t leave her alone. My father found us a nanny. Luo Xing takes care of Yueyue.”
Luo Xing smiled awkwardly, but she was a little nervous, afraid that Xia Wan would really say something.
Xia Wan did not intend to indulge her and said to Zhou Xiaorou, “Sis Xiaorou, I know you and Uncle Zhou have good personalities. Although you run a business, you have never lied to your customers. You keep your word and pay attention to your reputation. However, the nanny you hired really has a bad attitude.
“Just now, when she saw that we were dressed in old and tattered clothes, she looked at us with disdain. First, she thought we were here to buy medicine and ridiculed us for not being able to afford it. Then, she thought we were poor relatives who came to ask for benefits. Her words were full of disdain for us. Sister Xiaorou, I think even if Uncle Zhou were here, he wouldn’t treat us with this attitude, would he? As a nanny, who is she to look down on us?”
Luo Xing didn’t expect Xia Wan to actually tell Zhou Xiaorou this. She quickly put on a pitiful look and said, “Sis Xiaorou, I’ve been working in your house for so long. You should know my character best. How could I look down on poor people? My family’s financial situation is not good, to begin with. If you didn’t give me this opportunity, I would’ve never had a monthly income.”
“Sis Xiaorou, I might have said something impolite just now, but I really saw a lot of people recently saying that some poor relatives like to borrow money from rich relatives. I know you and Boss Zhou are soft-hearted, so if you really encounter such a situation, you definitely won’t refuse. However, if somebody has to take the fall, then I’ll gladly take it.”
Xia Wan saw that Luo Xing was pretending to be a good person and sneered in her heart. However, she also knew Luo Xing had been in Zhou Xiaorou’s house for a long time. Right now, she was still an outsider. If she said too much, it would seem a little overboard.
Xia Wan only twitched her mouth and said, “You’re quite a selfless person, aren’t you? But you’re amazing too. If it were me, I wouldn’t be able to pretend to be a bad person even if I wanted to. Just now, you really made me feel that you’re a bad woman who’s true to your appearance.
Because Xia Wan had a smile on her face and said it in a joking tone, Luo Xing couldn’t really back down on her.
Zhou Xiaorou’s eyes had a little doubt in them, though she didn’t think much about it and directly invited Xia Wan into the house.
Xia Wan smelled the faint scent of medicine in the air. She frowned and asked, “Sis Xiaorou, what medicine are you taking? This doesn’t seem to be the medicine your father prepared for you, right?”
