Chapter 123 – The Pheasant and the Phoenix (4)
This little girl is cute and had good manners. She really was like a delicate little princess. The crew privately discussed the comparison between Ning Tiantian and Tuantuan. The former is a Princess Snow White and the other is a pheasant.
Lin Yueqi’s family was still packing up when family no. 2 showed up on their yard with bows and arrows on their backs.
Ning Hao was holding his daughter and carrying a traditional hunting bow on his back. Liu Yu on the other hand had a face full of makeup a pair of clean white sneakers, her hands empty. She saw that LIn Yueqi was wearing simple countryside shoes and frowned subconsciously. Then, she asked, “Qiqi, have you guys packed up yet?”
“Almost done.” Lin Yueqi put on her boots and stood up, pulling her hair into a bun as she instructed Lu Ting. “Old Lu, grab that basket. We’ll need to load up the vegetables into that later.”
Lu Ting looked at the rustic basket and put on a displeased expression.
The fat girl climbed into the basket knowingly and sat inside, blinking her eyes at Lu Ting. “I’m ready, Papa!”
Lin Yueqi looked over at Tuantuan who had crawled into the basket and said with a cold face, “Old Lu is fatally ill and you still have the heart to make him carry you? Who’s going to raise you if you crush him?”
Lu Ting, “…” Who’s fatally ill?
The fat girl climbed out of the basket and pouted. “Okey, Tuantuan will walk by herself.”
Liu Yu and Ning Hao both looked at the way Lu Ting, Lin Yueqi, and Tuantuan interacted and they mocked them secretly in their hearts.
The fat girl’s hillbilly nature was hard to change. Even though Lu Ting had taken her back, she still followed her money and had the rural streak in her.
When the two families went hiking, Tuantuan quickly trotted up the mountain bath while Ning Tiantian was in her father’s arms the whole time.
Tuantuan waved at Ning Tiantian and asked to play, but the girl pouted and frowned. “No. You’re a pheasant and I’m a princess. I don’t want to play with you.”
Tuantuan, “…”
Lin Yueqi felt inexplicably angry. She instantly howled without caring about the camera, “Hey little girl, who did you call a pheasant?!”
Ning Tiantian was so scared that she could cry, and her father, Ning Hao’s face looked twisted as well. He had wanted to defend his daughter, but after seeing the cold-faced man behind her, he endured it and only coaxed his daughter in a quiet voice.
Liu Yu couldn’t just act out in front of the camera either and kept a gentle expression. “Qiqi, it’s just a joke between kids. Don’t take it too seriously.”
Lin Yueqi eyed her and also short her a smile. “You’re right, it’s just kiddy talk. Where did this kid learn that word? Pheasant? I’m pretty sure someone had to teach her that. Miss Liu, you’ll have to keep a tight watch on your kid. It’ll be bad if some bad-mannered people teach her the wrong things.”
Liu Yu, “…”
Lu Ting picked up Tuantuan and said in a comforting way, “It’s not like you’re money, not everyone’s going to like you. You don’t have to force your way into other people’s circles. When you become good enough, people will naturally come to please you.”
Tuantuan nodded to show her understanding. “Papa is right. Actually, it’s not so bad being a pheasant. A pheasant is more resilient than a phoenix, and they are also edible! Compared to a phoenix who’s only good for looking at, Tuantuan likes the pheasant more.”
…
The vegetable patch at the back of the hill is lush with canola blossoms and pea seedlings, adding life to the winter season.
The two families picked vegetables together at the patch.
The leaves of the vegetables are covered with a delicate layer of white frost and it was inevitable that one would feel cold when touching them. After picking vegetables for a while, Liu Yu said softly in a pampered tone to her husband, “Hubby, I’m cold…”
Ning Hao leaned over and kissed her. “What about now?”
Liu Yu shook her head bashfully. “Not anymore. Hubby’s kiss warmed my heart.”
Lin Yueqi and Lu Ting looked at each other, then the two met the gaze of Tuantuan who was squatting at the side.
