769 Assistant Selection(6)
Chapter 769: Assistant Selection(6)
Every second seemed like an eternity to many participants in the contest. Time continued to move as seconds combined into minutes, then minutes into hours, and finally, the day came to an end.
It was at that moment all the five hundred plus participants turned of hundred years of age. It was the limit to what a person could live without taking any life-extension medicine.
As the new day commenced, shining stars started turning grey. The fragment screens began blanking out while white lights began to appear on the platform.
In only a moment of time, more than three hundred million fragmented screens had blanked out as the participants got forced out of the world.
There were more than five hundred million participants that had entered the contest, but now after eighty-three years, more than half of them had failed and were forced out.
Unlike the other contests, the participants didn’t need to wait on the stage. Immediately after the disqualified participants appeared on the platform, they began to disappear from there and appeared in their respective seats.
The group of recently disqualified participants contained Eris and Elasha. These two were both who had reached the finals of the main event. Elena couldn’t participate, while these two got disqualified, so the finalists of another event didn’t even reach the halfway stage of another.
The blank fragmented screens began dissolving into those whose participants were still in the game, resulting in those screens becoming larger.
The number of participants still in the contest was 219,762,803. It was still many, so the attendees had no lack of choices.

Evelyn heaved a sigh of relief as she survived the first big challenge from the competition. Now that she had taken a life-extension medicine, she had two hundred years for not worrying about her lifespan ending.
“I want to hear some good news,” Evelyn spoke as he lightly tapped on the device in her hands.
“Madam, we are close to reaching the breakthrough,” An answer came after a few seconds of silence.
Evelyn then tapped on the device again and returned to her experiment.
It had been more than twenty years since she began to experiment for finding a vaccine, but her efforts hadn’t succeeded her till now.
Since the research was growing at a turtle pace, Evelyn decided to hire a group of expensive scientists to research other medicines. If she couldn’t find quality like the boy, she would have to do with the quantity.
This decision of hers cost more than ninety percent of her profits, so she had no choice but to put her expansion plans on the back burner. Evelyn decided to explode at once, and until then, she would bide her time.
The contest demanded the participants have a complete monopoly over the financial market of the world, so contestants needed to take the time to focus as well.
But many participants knew that the first step was the hardest, and the more solid the foundation, the easier it would become for them to achieve their goals. Evelyn also had a similar thought, so she had already decided to put two hundred years of her five hundred years into this medical sector.
Evelyn would venture into other businesses only after turning two hundred and seventeen years old.

“Fuck me! It was close!” Jonnah yelled in shock as he saw his old body beginning to turn young with his naked eyes.
When Jonnah had appeared in the world, he had gotten a restaurant in the street filled with hungry people who could barely afford a single meal in a day.
His days were tragic as he rarely got any customers, and he also had to stay cautious of stealing. The contest restricted any fighting for participants, so Jonnah could at most complain to law enforcement officers whenever stealing happened.
His destiny then changed one day as he received a philanthropist as the customer. The man liked his food, so he offered Jonnah the job of becoming his personal chef.
Jonnah accepted the job since anything was better than maintaining a store in this shithole.
As for the goal, Jonnah already had plans.
After working for twenty years for the philanthropist man, Jonnah quit the job and didn’t renew his contract.
Working for these twenty years of job had resulted in Jonnah having a small fortune as his savings.
Using the savings, Jonnah opened a restaurant on a famous street. Working as the personal chef of a rich man gave Jonnah enough time to learn about various types of dishes, and he also improved some.
His restaurant became popular, but soon trouble arrived as the food department conducted a surprise inspection. Everything was well, except for the space issues.
Since the restaurant had a lot of customers, Jonnah becoming greedy, used the majority of the space for setting up tables. It resulted in the store becoming overcrowded if all the tables were booked.
Punishing Jonnah’s greed, the food department shut the restaurant for twenty-five years and also put a restriction on Jonnah. In the punishment years, Jonnah couldn’t open another restaurant, while at the same time, he would have to continue paying rent for this sealed restaurant.
Those twenty-five years of punishment turned his life overnight, as he couldn’t find any well-paying job. No respected person was willing to hire him as their personal chef, so all those earnings from the restaurant helped him sustain his life.
At the same time, Jonnah, who only needed to earn at the same rate for a few years to buy a life-extension medicine, became dirt poor when the twenty-five years ended.
When the punishment ended, Jonnah was already ninety-five years old, so he only had five years left for him to live if he failed to buy a life-extension medicine.
After paying rent for this place for years, Jonnah decided to open his store in the same spot again.
The store became popular in no time since twenty-five years wasn’t a short period of time, and his dishes were truly delicious.
This time, Jonnah didn’t commit the same mistake and only had the number of tables as specified by the food department’s guidelines.
No trouble from the food department came due to that. At the same time, Jonnah’s earnings weren’t the same as before.
Only one day before his turning hundred years of age was Jonnah able to have enough savings for the life-extension medicine.
