Chapter 826: Discussion between the Generals(End)
The first general cursed his luck, seeing the unhappy eyes of the other generals.
He knew that he had brought them to the pit, so he didn’t dare to make them mad in anger.
The first general wouldn’t find it wrong if the other generals sacrificed him to get out of trouble with the non-demon.
The first general knew he was only doing his duty, but he also knew another fact. Power decided the side of good and evil.
Many evil deeds were done in the guise of good just because the doers were influential. The first general had himself seen this from his eyes.
They once caught a non-demon who had his items stolen. The one who should have been arrested was the Thorrron member who did this. But things went a different way since they lived in Thorr city.
The non-demon was arrested and then executed for blaming Thorron for stealing his items. No one in the city found the judgment to be wrong. They instead celebrated it as good. The first general was also one of those who celebrated.
If that non-demon had a background like the blue-skinned non-demon had one, then things would have been different.
Since the first general knew these things, he accepted his fault for calling these generals and forcing them into a troubling situation.
“What should we do?” The first general asked with a fake smile spread across his face.
The other generals looked at Frederick immediately since he was the one who had the idea about the non-demon’s gigantic background.
Frederick couldn’t help but frown and curse under his breath about the uselessness of these generals. First, they threw him into a pit they had created, and now they also wanted him to get everyone out of it.
“Do what! We should apologize and let the non-demon leave,” Frederick still responded. Since he had already fallen into a pit, there was no way he wasn’t going to think of ways to get out of it.
“Apologize for what. We never did any wrong in the first place-“
The second general muttered in anger after hearing Frederick’s response, but his voice came to a sudden halt as he saw the unhappy eyes of the generals glaring at him.
The second general took a deep breath and responded with a straight refusal to apologize. It was true that he was afraid of the non-demon’s background, but his pride would never let him apologize for some mistake he didn’t commit.
Clap clap clap!
A wave of clapping rang in the area, breaking the tense atmosphere between the generals. The five generals frowned since Frederick was the one who was clapping.
“How noble of you!” Frederick sneered as he looked at the second general.
The second general suddenly had a bad feeling as he saw the smile on Frederick’s face. The next moment, when he heard what Frederick said next, he felt his mind exploding.
“Since the general doesn’t want to apologize, why don’t we give his head to the non-demon and put the blame on his head,” Frederick suddenly stated.
Gulp gulp gulp!
As if Frederick had used bewitching magic, the four generals couldn’t help but gulp their throats as they looked at the second general.
The second general backed two steps, seeing the eyes of his fellow generals.
“HAVE YOU GONE MAD?” The second general angrily yelled as he looked at Frederick.
The sudden yell on the street caused everyone to look at the generals, including Aakesh and the soldiers.
Aakesh ignored it while the soldiers and other people on the street began to discuss the meaning behind the sudden yelling of one of the generals.
Frederick’s eyes turned into slits as he looked at the second general. He didn’t hide his killing intent and aimed at the general.
“Enough!” The fourth general suddenly interrupted. He suddenly waved his hands, and the killing intent aiming at the second general dissipated like a cloud.
The fourth general, the one with the highest cultivation and the oldest, decided to put his foot down and solve the infighting between the generals.
Even though he didn’t want to offend Frederick due to his background, it still didn’t mean he would let Frederick harm another general in his presence.
“No one needs to apologize to the non-demon,” The fourth general spoke, his voice directly aimed at Frederick.
Even he found the notion of apologizing to a non-demon foolish when they haven’t even done anything.
‘Let the city forces at least start, and then we will think about apologizing,’ The general thought in his heart. His face outside remained calm as he took the leadership of the group.
Frederick wanted to interrupt, but then he didn’t as the fourth general gave him the side eye. Frederick understood his status wouldn’t work well here, so he shut up and let the fourth general speak his mind.
“Since neither the city guards nor the non-demon had attacked each other, let the issue come to an end with this.”
“At the same time, the city guard had gotten humiliated in front of the city’s citizens,” The fourth general stated as he gestured toward the street that had now turned overcrowded. Everyone wanted to see the city guards humiliating the non-demon.
“You will ask the non-demon about the reason behind his actions,” The general suddenly pointed at the first general and ordered.
There was a calm in his eyes, as if the first general refused, a storm would erupt.
The first general felt chilled after he heard the fourth general, but he nodded after seeing the calm eyes of the general.
“It doesn’t matter what his reason was and whether you find it satisfying or not. Once you hear the reason, you will tell the non-demon to return to his store,” The fourth general added.
The general thought of this way as it would give some leeway to the city guards.
If the reason were suitable, the city guards would announce the non-demon to be correct in his actions and even reward him for killing a bunch of goons.
If there were no reason, the city guard would have to face the brunt of the citizen’s wrath and questions.
But this way, the city guards at least had a fifty percent chance of regaining the dignity they have lost today due to their actions.
Everyone’s eyes lightened up as they heard the fourth general. They weren’t children, so they could also understand the logic behind the fourth general’s response.
Every general then looked at the first general. Their eyes were calm, but they couldn’t hide the nervousness beneath the calm.
Until now, they had only thought of doing things their way while not considering the reaction of the non-demon.
Whether the situation would turn bright or hellish depended upon the non-demon’s response to the first general’s question.
