Chapter 657 - 657 Lin Ren(End)
Chapter 657: Lin Ren(End)
Lin Ren felt his blood running cold as the hyena first went for his legs rather than his head, ending the situation.
Lin Ren then prayed for him to get over this round of pain since it would hurt as much as it would in the actual world.
“Ugh!”
“Whoosh!”
The hyena’s teeth landed on Lin Ren’s right leg, resulting in a slight groan from him, but soon a new voice emerged and engulfed his groan.
“Thud!”
A sound of something tearing through the air rang in the area, and not long after that, the sound of something crashing to the ground rang.
Lin Ren felt molten lava on his right leg as he looked at the blood pouring out from the hyena. He then focused on the creature and found an arrow that had pierced its eyes, entering from the left and exiting from the right.
Lin Ren then pushed the hyena away, which had slightly bared its teeth onto his leg. Since he was an average human, Lin Ren understood that he needed to do something about the bite or he would die of poisoning from the hyena’s teeth.
But first, he needed to know whether he had survived the situation or if the worst was yet to come. Lin Ren then turned in the direction from which the arrow had arrived, only to find a bunch of people approaching him.
Lin Ren couldn’t help but release a helpless smile as the people approaching him were not very far, and hence he could see them. It seemed he had become a part of their plan in the hunt for the hyena.
There were six people in the group with each of them creating pressure on Lin Ren. All of them were Level 1. Since the hyena was Level 2, they didn’t take the battle directly to the beast.
Earlier their plan was to use one of them as the hunt while the other five would wait for their perfect chance.
Fortunately for them, an adventurer suddenly appeared here, and they didn’t have to use one of their own for the hunt. They also didn’t feel bad for the adventurer to become a part of this since they knew that adventurers were Immortals. Even if they die, they get revived back to their perfect state.
Now that their hunt was successful, they rushed toward the adventurer.
“Forgive us, adventurer, for using you as the bait,” The leader of the group apologized to Lin Ren while the other five bowed.
Lin Ren only nodded and didn’t speak anything as even someone kind like him didn’t like when others used him as bait.
The six got their answer, so they approached Lin Ren and gave him a lotion. “Adventurer, this lotion will help you ease the pain, and it will also kill the poison of the hyena’s teeth,” The leader stated.
“Thank you,” Lin Ren expressionlessly responded as he took the lotion from the leader.
He didn’t worry if it was another poison as he couldn’t die in Panagea. He needed something to ease the pain and kill the poison. Even if it killed Lin Ren, he would still choose it as dying slowly due to the agony of the bite would be worse than dying from the lotion.
Fortunately for Lin Ren and the group of six people, the lotion worked. In only a few minutes, Lin Ren started feeling normal. If he didn’t see the biting wound from his eyes, he wouldn’t even believe that he had gotten injured.
Time flew by.
The group of six people then led Lin Ren to their settlements.
It was an archaic settlement with the houses being made of leaves and branches on the trees.
The trees in the settlements were so large that each tree held at least tens of families, with each of them having sufficient space to them.
The area’s name was Garlog and it was just one of the settlements here. Garlog was a place where humans ruled.
It was also one of the few places where the privileges of the adventurer didn’t matter, or the six people had never tried to use Lin Ren as the bait.
They only knew that Lin Ren was an adventurer since it was programmed into every inhabitant’s brain in Panagea from their birth.
It was both fortune and misfortune of Lin Ren that he appeared in Garlog.
Garlog was a high-level area, with the beasts being more powerful than the humans. This settlement was on the weaker end of the power scale in the area, with the highest level being Level 50.
It was a misfortune for Lin Ren as the challenges Lin Ren would face here would be as tough as conquering territory in Panagea and becoming a ruler.
It was a fortunate situation for Lin Ren since the area was high-level, and he had no adventurer to compete with when it came to high-value resources.
Lin Ren then learned about the people here, and not long after, his first quest in Panagea arrived.
The quest asked him to hunt a Level 3 hyena with a group of ten people, and none of them could be more than Level 1. If he used less than eight people, he would be eligible for his bonus reward, and the lesser the number of people, the bigger it would be.
Lin Ren would have to strategize everything, and the group members would have to trust him during the hunt. If even one group member did things on their own, ignoring Lin Ren’s strategies, the mission would turn into a failure.
The quest not only asked for his mental prowess but physical prowess as well since Lin Ren also needed to be present at the forefront of the hunt and not only do everything from the back.
Lin Ren knew the task was tough even before beginning the quest as he also needed to find people who would listen to his orders, but at the same time, be good at what they do.
Finding both in a single person wasn’t easy as those who were good at things were usually headstrong and wanted to be the leader themselves, and usually, those who weren’t good at things wanted to get led by others.
