Xiao Heng had disguised himself, so Han Ye naturally didn’t recognize him. But how could Han Ye leave any witnesses alive?

Han Ye sneered coldly, “He’s not getting away. You’d better give up that hope!”

Gu Jiao placed her hand on the dagger at her waist.

She hadn’t expected a fight when leaving the house, so she hadn’t brought any weapons. For now, this would have to do.

A short dagger against a long spear was definitely a disadvantage.

Just as this thought crossed her mind, a sharp whistling sound came from the woods behind her.

“Catch!”

Gu Jiao reached out and grabbed.

A long spear landed in her hand!

Gu Chengfeng descended from the sky using qinggong.

Before he landed, Gu Jiao quickly said to him, “Take him away!”

Gu Chengfeng nodded solemnly, spun around, grabbed Xiao Heng by the arm, and leaped over the heads of the two experts with Xiao Heng in tow.

One of the experts flew up, attempting to pull Gu Chengfeng down, but Gu Jiao struck him down with her spear!

Gu Chengfeng wanted to stay behind, but he knew this was the best arrangement.

“Chase them!” Han Ye ordered the two experts.

The injured one clutched his chest and, together with his companion, pursued Gu Chengfeng and Xiao Heng in the direction they fled.

Han Ye looked at the four of them, then turned to Gu Jiao, snorting coldly, “I don’t care who you are or how many experts you have gathered around you, today, none of you will leave this forest alive!”

“Is that so?” Gu Jiao tightened her grip on the spear, her eyes narrowing as she assumed a fighting stance.

“Very well, let me see your spear skills.” Han Ye said with a cold smile, "Or perhaps I should give you another chance. Who taught you your spear technique?"

The answer was "Beautiful Monk," but what business was that of his?

He didn’t deserve to know!

None of the Han Family did!

Gu Jiao thrust her spear forward, and Han Ye was immediately surrounded by an intense, murderous aura. This wasn't even a proper spear—so why did it emit such boundless spear intent in the hands of this kid?

Indeed, this was Gu Chengfeng’s silver spear used for theatrical performances.

It was lighter than a normal spear, and much lighter than Gu Jiao’s red-tassel spear.

Yet, even so, when Han Ye blocked this strike, his arm went slightly numb from the impact.

This kid... What terrifying strength!

He definitely must kill him today, or he would surely become a major threat to their Han Family in the future!

Han Ye wasted no more time and held back nothing, “I brought a spear just to test your skills, but I probably haven’t told you—my best skill... is swordsmanship!”

With that, he planted his spear into the ground and drew the treasured sword from his saddle.

The glint of the sword flashed past Gu Jiao’s face.

In that split second, a memory of Xiao Heng’s attempted assassination surfaced in Gu Jiao’s mind. The weapon used back then was also a sword!

A suspicion suddenly arose in her heart.

“That night, it was you!”

Second Master Han was just a scapegoat. The real culprit was Han Ye!

Han Ye paused, realizing that Gu Jiao was likely referring to the assassination attempt on Xiao Liulang the other night.

Han Ye didn’t deny it, only saying, “So you really are connected to Xiao Liulang! Now I have even more reason to kill you!”

They absolutely could not allow the lineage of the former Crown Princess to gain such a formidable expert.

The two resumed their fight.

Rumors tended to exaggerate, turning someone's modest abilities into something grand.

However, this wasn’t the case with Han Ye. He had the full ten parts of skill, yet the world only knew of three.

Gu Jiao had only regained forty percent of her previous life's strength, and she was no match for Han Ye.

In the course of the fight, Gu Jiao gradually sustained injuries.

She used her spear to support her weakening body and wiped the blood from the corner of her mouth.

The number one expert of Shengdu's younger generation lived up to his reputation.

Han Ye looked down at Gu Jiao with pride, "Show me what other tricks you have left."

"I have plenty of skills, just afraid you won't live long enough to see them all!"

"Arrogant fool! Prepare to die!"

With that, Han Ye swung his sword towards Gu Jiao.

Gu Jiao pressed her spear against the ground, using it to vault herself into the air, then she hooked her toes onto a branch overhead, using it to leap above Han Ye's head.

Then, like a dragon diving into the sea, she slashed down with her spear!

Han Ye cut her spear in half with one strike!

As she continued to fall, Han Ye's sword thrust straight towards her heart.

She did not dodge.

Given the disparity in strength, she had no choice but to sacrifice herself to take down her enemy, inflicting a thousand wounds on them while suffering eight hundred in return. Her previous attacks were merely feints; she was actually there to catch Han Ye's long sword with her body.

Once the sword was in, the distance would close, allowing the dagger hidden in her left hand to slash his throat.

Han Ye realized what Gu Jiao was attempting to do, and his brow furrowed.

Madman!

This youth from the State of Zhao was insane!

He was willing to give up his own life just to kill him!

Gu Jiao only had this one chance to strike, but Han Ye was different; his level was above Gu Jiao's, and he didn't need to take that risk!

He planned to pull back.

However, Gu Jiao reached out her hand, seemingly intending to grab his sword blade with her bare hands!

Was this kid planning to cripple his own hand?

A chill swept through Han Ye's heart; the tenacity of this youth was truly astonishing. He had seen ruthless individuals, but he had never encountered someone this relentless!

This was a sword that could cut through iron like mud, and he could guarantee that all four of her fingers would be severed!

Just as Gu Jiao was about to engage in a "mutual destruction" move with Han Ye, a powerful wave of sword qi came slashing through the forest, forcefully knocking Han Ye's sword away from Gu Jiao's hand.

Gu Jiao grasped at thin air.

She fell through the air, but she didn’t land on Han Ye, nor did she crash onto the rough, messy ground.

She landed in a familiar embrace.

“Huh?”

She looked up, staring dazedly at the young and handsome face that suddenly appeared before her, the little tuft of hair on top of her head sticking up with a whoosh.

The newcomer held her in a princess carry, gracefully landing, then gently set her down beneath a large tree, pulling off his cloak and placing it on the ground for her to sit on.

His cloak was clean and carried a refreshing fragrance, while she, in contrast, was covered in dust and debris from the fight.

Her little face was smudged, making her look like a little calico cat.

She looked at him in bewilderment and asked, “Hmm… how did you get here?”

The other party didn't rush to answer; instead, he raised his hand to brush off the grass and fallen leaves from her temples, looking at her with gentle eyes. He softly rubbed the top of her head and said, “Wait for me here.”

After that, like a parent worried their child might not stay put, he took off the pouch from his waist and handed it to Gu Jiao, "There’s food inside."

Gu Jiao: "..."

Han Ye was still reeling from the shock of the earlier sword qi; his arm felt numb, and he needed to circulate his energy to regain feeling.

He cautiously eyed the young man who had suddenly appeared and, with a sharp gaze, asked, "Who are you? Which sect are you from?"

The young man stood up and turned to face Han Ye.

The warmth and affection in his eyes vanished, replaced by the cold, deadly aura of a seasoned warrior!

He stood firm with his sword in hand, speaking in the language of the State of Yan, each word measured and deliberate, “Underground martial arena, Gu Changqing!”

Description:

In the suspenseful supernatural novel “Records of Mortals,” Jiang Baiyan, once a solitary and impoverished youth, finds refuge in the Shi family of Chang’an due to his extraordinary bloodline. With his clear and captivating peach blossom eyes, this seemingly innocent young man conceals a fanatical and malevolent lunatic within. Destined to succumb to darkness amidst hardship and degradation, he becomes a harbinger of chaos.

When Shi Dai suddenly transmigrates, she takes on the role of the Shi family’s young lady, the one who subjects him to countless trials, eventually leading to her demise.

The twist? She never got to finish reading the novel.

From what she knew of the plot, Jiang Baiyan was just a silent, timid, and often bullied pitiable character.

***

Jiang Baiyan had never encountered someone like Shi Dai.

After he had slaughtered all the evil creatures in the garden, the blood-stained young man, exuding a murderous aura, approached her step by step, his lips curling into a malicious smile, "Scared?"

Shi Dai responded, “You’re really amazing! I applaud you until I spin like a spiral and fly around the moon three hundred times! And also——you have dimples when you smile!"

Jiang Baiyan: ...?

After seeing her at a lantern festival with another man, Jiang Baiyan lowered his eyes, his fingers twirling her hair. He said in a mocking and sinister tone, "The mansion in the western suburbs...if I hide you there, no one will find you, right?"

Shi Dai replied, "Does it come with meals and lodging? Can I sleep in everyday? Oh, and your cooking is the best!"

Jiang Baiyan: ...?

Jiang Baiyan was supposed to dislike her, even hate her, but as their separation drew near, his eyes turned red and he grabbed her sleeve, pleading, "Don't abandon me, alri—”

Shi Dai responded, "Alright, alright, I’ll only have you. Mwah."

Jiang Baiyan: ...?

He hasn't finished his lines yet though…
