More accurately, they went straight to the Blacksmith because that would be the most sought-after location in Arathi.
Lu Li and Water Fairy did not head toward that area and went to the Gold Mines instead. This was a lower-lying ground compared to the Blacksmith and Logging area.
No one from the Alliance came here, but there were two players from the Horde – a Mage and a Paladin.
Paladins and Berserkers were still the top-tier classes in PvP as of now, but they were both very gear-dependent as well.
Paladins were harder to deal with than Berserkers because their skills and Special Effects made them extremely durable. However, a Paladin with average gear was basically a more-mobile Priest.
Classes like Druids had a much easier time in PvP and could be useful even without exquisite gear.
Lu Li and Water Fairy did not need much communication and they both targeted the Mage. The Paladin naively went to capture the point because he thought that no one else was there.
When capturing a point, grey indicated that it was neutral and belonged to neither side. When captured, it would turn either red or blue, depending on the team.
“Help..”
The Mage was ambushed and killed without even having time to cry out for help. The Paladin had yet to capture the point and had no choice but to come and attack the two Thieves.
He tried stalling while calling for backup.
The Horde team was a premade group of 15 players who knew each other beforehand. They entered the queue together and had a main shot caller. Usually in these teams, the chances of them winning was much higher because they were all familiar with each other’s playstyle.
When the shot caller heard that there were two Thieves at the Gold Mine, he wasn’t too worried and commanded his teams to take down Logging Area and Blacksmith, followed by the Gold Mine. Along with the Farm point that was closest to their spawn, they would have four out of the five resource points. Then. all they had to do was to hunt down the Alliance players.
Unexpectedly, as soon as he gave out his command, the Paladin was sent back to the spawn point.
“What’s happening at the Gold Mine? Didn’t you two go together?” the shot caller asked, then yelled, “Go back there with the Druid and make sure the three of you clear out Gold Mines.”
A Mage, Paladin and Druid combo was more than enough to take care of two Thieves. The Paladin and the Mage were unsure about whether they could pull this off but had no choice but to listen to the guy in charge.
“The two of them are back again?”
Water Fairy had scouted ahead of the Gold Mines where the Horde would have to walk through while Lu Li was capturing the point.
“There’s probably another player in Stealth – either a Druid or another Thief, or even both. You go ahead and make sure they don’t interrupt me from capturing the point.
Capturing a point was a channeled skill and could be interrupted when the player was attacked, which was why Lu Li made Water Fairy stall time for him.
Even though she was up against several other players, Water Fairy was not afraid at all.
If she were any other girl, she would probably act cute and say something along the lines of, “Big brother Lu Li, I’m so scared.” However, Water Fairy was the last person that would do something like that.
She Stealthed next to the enemies but instead of attacking, she first looked for the hidden player.
From his appearance, he looked like a Stealthed Cat-form Druid.
After she had an idea of what she was up against, she first Sapped the Mage, then Blinded the Paladin and focused all her damage onto the Druid.
Cat Druids had high damage but barely any crowd control skills, so Water Fairy was free to unleash her combos on her.
The Mage and the Paladin both cleansed their crowd-control and joined the fight to protect the Druid. The Cat Druid was actually the youngest of the group and everyone treated her like their own little sister.
Lu Li finished capturing the point, then summoned his mount and raced towards his lover.
Even though it was a 2v3, the three Horde players knew that things were going south. The Cat Druid was already at half HP and didn’t understand why Water Fairy would not leave her alone.
Water Fairy focused the Cat Druid because… she couldn’t be bothered changing targets.
She trusted that Lu Li would come as soon as he could, so she kept cleansing any crowd-control that was thrown towards her way and continued chasing after the Druid.
The Cat Druid had no choice but to return to human form to heal herself.
The Mage and Paladin were shocked when they realized that the two of them could not kill a single Thief that was ignoring them. She had so many mobility skills, defensive skills, as well as cleanses that made it impossible to kill her.
It was completely over when Lu Li joined the fight and he made sure they knew that he was just as scary as Water Fairy, if not more.
Very quickly, the three of them were sent back to the spawn point.
“Leave the Gold Mines; there’re pro players there. As long as we pressure the other points, we’ll be ok.” The shot caller wasn’t stupid and knew that there was no point in facing against the two godly Thieves head-on without a strategy.
There were five resource points in Arathi and it would be impossible for the two Thieves to have control over all five.
They already had the upper hand at the other resource points and as soon as their points reached 2000, they would have the victory.
A blue Alliance Flag was risen at the Gold Mines, but Lu Li and Water Fairy did not linger around the capture point for long. Their next target was the Farm, which was the closest resource point for the Horde.
They had a Warrior there that was protecting the point.
Even though Warriors countered Thieves, the difference in their gear was way too much for the class advantage to have any effect.
“Boss, there are people at the Farm! I’m dead!”
The shot caller was furious.
“You’re a Warrior in Plate Armor; how could you die so easily?! Send a team of players to the Gold Mines; we’ll leave the Farm. If we’re no match for them then we’ll avoid them completely.”
