The Lady’s Sickly Husband

Chapter 83 - Uncle Jing

Chapter 83: Uncle Jing

Su Qi never expected to see her in here!

The light-blue figure floating over snow made Su Qi stunned and smiled again. This time, it wasn’t an uncaring smile, but one that could make others feel warm.

She still laughed heartedly and carefreely as usual. Still so…beautiful!

Mr. Tong’s eyes were focused on his son and didn’t see Su Qi’s facial expression.

The butler reminded, “Master. It’s been an hour after lunch time. Do you think we should go to remind Mrs. Ning?” Master had ordered that no one shall enter the garden in case that lord might be startled.

Therefore, before Mo Qianxue took lord back, the lunch couldn’t be served.

“Well. Let me go. You take Qi to the living room. I’ll be right there…”

Mr. Tong didn’t finish yet when Su Qi cut in with a smile, “Don’t bother, granduncle. I go with you so that I can meet uncle Jing. When I come back, I can tell grandma his recent condition. She will be happy to know that uncle Jing is getting better. You don’t know when mentioning uncle Jing grandma would…”

Mr. Tong couldn’t turn him down.

After all, he had witnessed Qi growing up from a child and liked him very much.

When young people got together, the atmosphere could be lighter. Thinking of this, Mr. Tong replied, “Good. Follow me. When you go back home, tell your grandma not to worry about Jing anymore.”

Walking several steps, Mr. Tong recalled that Su Qi was a mischievous boy, so he urged him, “Qi, remember to be careful not to scare your uncle.”

“I won’t mess around. Relax, granduncle.” Su Qi responded and followed behind Mr. Tong. He also wished to see Mrs. Ning earlier.

He hadn’t talked with her for a long time. The last time he saw her was on that day from afar across the river.

Seeing people coming, Tong Zijing raised his head out of vigilance.

When he confirmed it was Mr. Tong, his hand shook so violent that even the snow in his hand dropped to the ground.

He instantly hid behind Mo Qianxue.

Mr. Tong was sorrowful at this scene and tried best to force a pleasing smile, “Jing, are you hungry? Let’s have lunch, okay?”

Tong Zijing stood behind Mo Qianxue, clutching the corner of her clothes and desperately shaking his head.

He didn’t want to go back to the cage.

Mo Qianxue was surprised to see Su Qi coming together with Mr. Tong.

She was even more surprised at Tong Zijing’s reaction when he saw Mr. Tong. Why Su Qi showed up had nothing to do with her, as long as he didn’t mean to find her any trouble.

She waved her head, pondering on the scene. Yesterday, Tong Zijing didn’t display such aversion against Mr. Tong. He only regarded him as a stranger.

On a second thought, she understood: as Tong Zijing’s ability of reasoning restored, he certainly demonstrated likes and dislikes towards different people, which was a good sign. If there was aversion, he must vent it. When all the suppressed emotions were vented out, it would be a watershed of his recovery.

This thought made Mo Qianxue cheered up. She looked at Tong Zijing, “Brother. Humans eat lunch, or we’ll be hungry and have no strength. Without energy, how could we grow taller? Shall we eat lunch here in the pavilion? Let them take lunch here, okay?”

What Tong Zijing hated was to go back to his room. As for whether to have lunch didn’t matter to him.

So he nodded.

Seeing that Mo Qianxue treated Tong Zijing with such patience and that Tong Zijing was much different, Su Qi didn’t know what was going on for a moment, but he was clever and sensitive enough to understand that now the most important thing to do was to adapt to them.

He took a glance at Mo Qianxue’s hand which was holding that of Tong Zijing’s, smiling, “Uncle Jing, do you remember me? How about we have lunch together?”

Tong Zijing didn’t look at him but only fixed his eyes on Mo Qianxue as if he feared that she would disappear at any moment.

Mo Qianxue almost burst into laughter when she heard Su Qi called him uncle.

Tong Zijing called her sister, so should Su Qi call her aunt?

At the thought of what Su Qi would look, Mo Qianxue couldn’t stop smiling.

Getting the request, Mr. Tong ordered the servants in a hurry to serve the lunch in the pavilion.

Mo Qianxue frowned when two servants stood on each side of Tong Zijing and fed him with spoons.

She put down her bowl and chopsticks, drove away the two servants, and, under the confused look of Mr. Tong and Su Qi, began to teach Tong Zijing to eat with a spoon on his own.

Mr. Tong intended to stop her but was pulled by Su Qi.

Tong Zijing almost danced with joy. He held a spoon with one hand but used the other hand to grab dishes, making it all over his face and clothes and on the ground. Yet, he didn’t mind at all and enjoyed his meal with excitement.

It had been many years since he last ate on his own.

Just because once, a long time ago, Mr. Tong criticized him dirty to make dishes all over the place and punished the servants for not fulfilling their duties.

Some of them were not only beaten but also driven out of Tong mansion, either alive or dead. Ever since then, new servants knew how to behave themselves. For each meal, there were designated people who fed him and spared him of spoons or chopsticks.

Mo Qianxue was so sad witnessing his eagerness and happiness to eat while waving a spoon.

She also abandoned her chopsticks, picked up a spoon and set example for him as to how to use a spoon and hold the bowl…

She couldn’t be more patient.

Mr. Tong looked at them, annoyed at first because what he hated most was messy, but later moved by Mo Qianxue’s patience, finally breathing a long sigh and leaving.

Su Qi didn’t go.

After the meal, Mo Qianxue let servants bring chopsticks and a plate of beans.

Mo Qianxue had read an article which found that using chopsticks would boost coordination of brain and hands since the action involved multiple muscles including fingers, arms and shoulders.

In addition, the action seemed easy but in fact contained complicated and delicate movements, precise exertion of one’s strength and ability to coordinate, so as to pick up food and send it to one’s mouth.

The brain and hands were inextricably linked, so to complete this complex and refined action required the combination use of hands and brain would greatly promote the growth of brain.

The few people sat in the pavilion and started a game of picking up beans. With Su Qi’s participation and interaction, it became easier to impact Tong Zijing.

They smiled at each other and tried to let Tong Zijing win the game.

Su Qi was a naughty boy, so this game gave full play to his nature. Not only Mo Qianxue, Tong Zijing was also amused and laughed.

At the beginning, Tong Zijing didn’t know how to hold the two sticks and couldn’t pick up a bean at all.

But he wasn’t frustrated seeing that Mo Qianxue and Su Qi’s beans fell off the chopsticks too.

Later, he was finally able to pick up a bean. Su Qi and Mo Qianxue were so excited that they stood up and cheered for him, bumping into each other’s head.

The two blushed, quite embarrassed, but Tong Zijing pointed to them and laughed.

Mo Qianxue looked up at the sky. It was not early. She told Tong Zijing that she would come to play with him tomorrow and that his room wouldn’t be locked again.

He could get out whenever he wanted. Then, she coaxed Tong Zijing back to his room and gave him all the story scrolls she had told yesterday to let him read when she wasn’t here.

To read the drawings and recall the stories would be much better than tearing cloth in a daze.

Later, she asked the butler to pass the message to Mr. Tong that Tong Zijing’s automatic behavior shouldn’t be interfered with too much.

She also demanded that two more reliable servants should be assigned to Tong Zijing.

The several servants of Tong Zijing had been inspected by Mo Qianxue. Most of them were over thirties and were said to have served Tong Zijing for eight years. They did everything in accordance with strict pattern, but, in the eye of Mo Qianxue, with no traces of vitality.

Probably Mr. Tong only found this kind of people trustworthy to take care of his son.

However, he was so wrong.

These people not only lack vitality but also made Mo Qianxue feel very uncomfortable.

From the way they looked at Tong Zijing, Mo Qianxue saw contempt and gloom.

Then from Tong Zijing’s fearful eyes when looking at them, it wasn’t hard to deduce that these people couldn’t be kind. Although she had sensed this point, exhausted from a day’s hard work, Mo Qianxue couldn’t squeeze out a trace of energy to talk with that old phycho.

She was now one hundred percent sure that despite Tong Zijing’s own issue, the biggest root cause lied in Mr. Tong.

Mo Qianxue left, but Su Qi stayed.

He decided to live in the Tong mansion for several days.

Tong Zijing didn’t like his father or his servant but got along quite well with Su Qi. He even said some sentences with him and laughed to him.

Therefore, Mr. Tong was more than willing that Su Qi could stay.

He thought to himself, what a sweet man Qi was!
