Raine, and Calleb was walking along the corridor. Then, they both went to the first floor, heading towards Torak's office that was on the left side. From the distance, Calleb could hear Jenedieth, and Torak's conversation. But, in order to hear them, Raine needed to get a little bit closer. After all, she was only human. Unlike Calleb, her hearing ability had its limit.
Calleb frowned the moment he grasped the subject matter that Torak, and Jenedieth were talking about inside the office. Although the whole conversation was seemingly dominated by Jenedieth, he could also hear Torak who seemed to only be giving a short reply to Jenedieth. Suddenly, after hearing their conversation, the Gamma started to question his decision to bring Raine along with him.
"Mm… Raine…" Calleb whispered to her. Meanwhile, Raine was busy with her eavesdropping attempt. She was pressing her ear on the surface of the door, trying desperately to have a better understanding about the topic that was going on inside.
She believed that Torak wouldn't do anything about Jenedieth, though they were left alone inside the same room like this. Hence Raine wasn't surprised to hear Jenedieth's voice to be the one that was dominating the whole conversation with Torak.
However, a moment later, Jenedieth reached the point where she had to express the thing that she demanded from Torak. Listened to what it was, suddenly Raine felt her heart drop to the ground.
"I want you to take me as your Luna." said Jenedieth, announcing her demand shamelessly. But seeing that there was no reaction from Torak, she continued to speak. "You can keep that girl by your side, but I want the status as your Luna. And to solidify that, I want you to mark me."
Raine heard it very clearly. It was just like there was no door that separated her from those people inside. She was sure of what she just heard.
Would Torak do it? Would Torak take Jenedieth by his side again? After all, before getting involved with Raine, Torak had known Jenedieth for such a long time. In other words, Jenedieth was by his side first, and longer.
Raine's heart was pounding again inside her ribcage. This time, it was faster, and stronger. She just couldn't imagine that Torak would actually give a part of his attention to another woman. Isn't it me who is his mate?—she?silently asked herself.
But, there wasn't any response from Torak. Not only that, no matter how hard she tried, Raine couldn't hear clearly what Jenedieth was saying. But a moment later, she heard the thing that Jenedieth kept rambling on about. Her demand that she wanted for Torak to grant.
"I want you to introduce me as your Luna." She said stubbornly.
The Alpha wouldn't kill me for this, right? What if Torak agreed with Jenedieth's conditions? But, would that be possible? With the way Torak protected Raine, there's no way! He wouldn't even consider that option, right?—Calleb thought.
Raine frowned and shoved Calleb's hand off her shoulder. She kept on trying to get Torak's answer, but there was no sound from inside. Maybe they were talking in an extremely low voice, that she couldn't hear them? But, Calleb could definitely hear them, right?
Raine raised her head to look at Calleb. Unfortunately, before she could even ask about anything, there the Beta was, looking alert. He was hissing under his breath. His expression turned into horror. Something was wrong.
Raine didn't have the time to ask what happened to him. And then suddenly, the door was thrown open from the inside by someone. The thing she saw was Torak's huge figure appeared right before Raine's eyes.
Because of the surprising appearance of Torak, and his enormous presence, Raine almost lost her balance from her previous odd position. She was about to fall down, but thankfully Torak was there and caught her body right in time.
"Alpha… I didn't mean to eavesdrop on your conversation! Really!" Calleb waved his hand in denial frantically. It would absolutely be the end of him, if Torak truly took offense for this. After all, looking back at his mood the whole day, he had been in an extremely bad mood.
But, Torak ignored him. Instead, he looked at Raine in his arms dotingly. There was no anger that could be seen from his eyes.
He knew that Raine was standing behind the door. He was always sensitive with her lovely scent.
Her adorable big eyes widened in shock when she was caught red-handed for her act. "What are you doing here my love? And this is not the first time you do this.??? Torak asked softly as he placed a kiss on her forehead, making her blink a couple of times.
"I…" Raine was stuttering. She was feeling guilty for what she had done. "I…" She gulped hard, while avoiding eye contact with Torak. "I… want to see you…" She admitted it timidly.
Well, that wasn't a lie. She was indeed coming to see him, but somehow happened to stumble on their conversation at the same time.
"Do you want to see me?" Torak asked, the corner of his lips moved upwards, forming into a small curve of smile. "Do you see me enough now?" He teased her and enjoyed watching how her face turned crimson, it was a beautiful sight to behold.
"I… I can go if I interrupt your—" Raine didn't manage to finish her sentence, because suddenly Torak pecked her lips. That short moment was able to silence her.
"You will never interrupt me, my love. I think you don't see me enough." Torak held Raine's waist, while leading her way inside the room.
When Raine walked past Jenedieth, she could feel the hostility that came from her entire being. How intense it was that it almost felt like she would've torn Raine apart, limb to limb. There was no doubt that it would absolutely happen, if only Torak weren't there.
Torak brought Raine behind his working table and sat her on his lap, while he was sitting on his leather chair.
Calleb could only watch, cringing in embarrassment with the way Torak was treating his mate now. The Gamma would rather die committing suicide, than lived to watch the embarrassing scene between Torah, and Raine now. He was extremely cringing, it was suffocating just to see how the Alpha was behaving. Apparently, it didn't apply only to him. Jenedieth also felt his suffering.
Then, Calleb suddenly realized that the aftermath of what just happened would be different for Jenedieth. He glanced at Jenedieth, worriedly. Just like what he had expected, the woman was burning with hatred, and jealousy. Her eyes glued at Raine who was sitting on Torak's lap.
Jenedieth's whole body was trembling. She was clenching her fists so tightly that her fingers turned white. Torak had never treated anyone like that! It almost felt like the Alpha had changed. He was entirely different from the lycan that he used to be. He practically became someone else in her eyes.
Meanwhile, Raine also felt uncomfortable with the way she was sitting. It would be fine if there were only the two of them. But now, there was Jenedieth, who was glaring at her. And also Calleb, whose mouth was wide open, seemingly gawking at the sight of her and Torak.
"Stay still…" Torak whispered to Raine's ear intimately. Immediately her ears were turning to red as well as her entire face that had been red since a moment ago.
With that, Raine stopped struggling. He let Torak hold her close to his chest, resting his arms on her waist and arm, while his chin was nesting atop of her head.
"Now, if you don't mind, you can repeat your conditions again." said Torak to Jenedieth. But now his eyes were locked at the circles that he drew on Raine's arm with his finger.
