Chapter 213 THE BEAST WENT BERSERK
213 THE BEAST WENT BERSERK
It was already nerve-wracking to see Torak get mad, but Raine thought this was much worse, seeing that she now had become the object of the Alpha's anger.
Fortunately Diana was calm enough to assess the situation.?She held the Alpha's arm to keep his beast at bay.
At his mate's touch, Janus' tensed muscles relaxed slightly.?He pulled Diana closer to him and kissed her forehead.
During that moment, they communicated through mind-link and not long after that, Janus nodded his head rigidly and let go of Diana's waist.
Diana then walked gracefully towards Raine and ordered Dmitri to release his tight grip on her. Dmitri did as he was told, but he still stood close enough to act fast if needed.
"That accusation is something that could make you lose your head." Diana's expression was calm and composed when she said that, but there was a warning behind her words. "I will give you a chance to take it back."
However, Raine thought she was already at a dead end with her two options.?Should she try and gain the trust of the Lycans with her words??Or should she just keep her mouth shut and let the Lycans deal with the wizard hunters themselves.
The problem was, Raine couldn't let the latter option happen by relying on the security that the Alpha had prepared for his family and betting Torak's life on the line, so she would do everything to gain their trust.
Raine shook her head firmly. "No, Luna. I am telling you the truth.?The wizard hunters have a plan to kill the Alpha's son.?I heard them say that."
Now after Raine was done telling her part, she wondered what would happen to Torak in the present time if something bad happened to him here.
If she did not travel back to the past, then who would tell the Alpha and Luna about this? Since Torak was alive in the present, then they were able to tackle the conflict that the wizard hunters had created, right?
However, Raine stood by her decision.?She does not want to take the risk.?She would never be able to bear it if something bad would happen to Torak.
Diana frowned. "The consequences of your words are very severe, you know that?"
"I will not dare to tell lies." Raine was getting anxious because she couldn't see the baby.
Right after she said that, the lights in the room suddenly went out, leaving them in the dark for about two seconds.?After that, and just as suddenly, the lights went back on.
"What was that?"
"What was going on?"
"The light just disappeared, right?"
A wave of uproar started among the guests as they started throwing the same questions to people beside them.
Janus pulled Diana close to him as he scoured the entire room with his eyes, looking for any imminent danger.
"It was them." Raine mumbled and then said in louder voice. "It was them. The same thing happened when the witches that were sent by the wizard hunters attacked us." She said through gritted teeth, although it was clear enough for the Alpha, the Luna and the other Lycan warriors nearby to hear her.
"What could the flickering of light do?" Diana asked and from her expression, it was clear that she had taken Raine's words seriously.
"It would turn this room very quiet. It would shut out any sound outside of this room so we would not be able to hear or know if a fight is going on outside." Raine explained hastily.
Once again Janus and Diana communicated with each other in silence.
The lycans and werewolves would not be able hear sounds coming from outside because of the spell, while Raine would not be able to hear any sound simply because she does not possess the same remarkable hearing ability as the lycans or werewolves.
Janus and Diana's face turned gloomy and then the Alpha was mind-linking his Lycan warriors because shortly after that they rushed out of the hall.
There were no witches inside the main hall to lift the spell because even though the Alpha welcomed all the creatures inside the village, he did not trust them enough to be near his family, especially his newborn son.
"Luna, may I know if the baby is safe?" Raine couldn't help but ask when she saw the communication was over.
Diana's face looked rigid as she stared at Raine and answered her. "You don't need to worry about that. We are checking what you just said and if you are proven wrong, you better worry about yourself first instead of your sister." She warned.
Upon hearing that, Raine gulped visibly. Fear started to creep into her heart.
She did not want the wizard hunters to succeed but if nothing was happening outside, then she didn't know what they would do to her, especially if they found out that she wasn't a witch.
Raine bit her lips nervously, her prayer was a contradiction.
'Please let something happen, but don't let anyone suffer.'
Raine chanted those words like a charm.
And as if it worked, someone mind-linked Janus.
[Alpha! This is bad! We found a dead Lycan's body.] The sound of the voice in Janus' head was so anxious.
[What!?] Janus's eyes turned dark as if there was storm raging from within.
Diana's eyes widened when she learned what was going on.?Then she turned her head to look at Raine in disbelief.
On the other hand, the expressions on Diana's face made Raine realize that it has already begun.
"Luna, their aim is your sons!" Raine reminded her anxiously.?She couldn't help but worry about Torak.
Where did she send him?
Right at that moment, someone mind-linked the Alpha and Luna and even though it was only through their minds, both of them could feel the horror from his voice.
[Alpha! Your son is missing!]
Those words were the cue for the Alpha's beast to go berserk in his Lycan form.
