Chapter 453: Chomped to death!

Chapter 453: Chomped to death!

In spite of the arachnid drones appearing like a totally different grade from those enormous mining machines of the RDA company; each gene and cell of these tireless and diligent kids, were manufactured for the sake of dealing with various kinds of mineral rocks. They were the refined products of numerous revisions of the arachnid race; mining, refining and transporting as one.

With them unearthing the underground passage, their efficiency probably wouldn’t be much lower than the heavy machineries of the humans. Yet after Sheyan had assembled a dozen plus arachnid drones to start excavating, they encountered an unexpected situation.

The work efficiency of these drones was actually relatively low!

During normal times when harvesting pandora crystals lodged within rocks, their movements were superbly agile and fluid. With a pair of large pincers repetitively crunching, they would easily chisel away the solid rock and extract the pandora crystals within.

Yet at present, the pack of drones rotated around the rocks, looking lazy as they clamped down their pincers onto the rocks. Though several dozens of drones operated for so long, they only managed to settle a cubic metre of solid rock.

Sheyan was aware that something was amiss, because it was impossible for arachnid drones to slack off. On closer thought, he hastily contacted the Blackthorn Overmind.

The Blackthorn Overmind was generous indeed; ordering Queen-zerg Jenny*, who had currently evolved to a legendary creature tier already, over to clarify the situation. Accompanying her, were 2 other elite legendary Devourer and rare-elite Mutalisk. This task force was pretty awesome, a force to reckon with even against a Great Leonopteryx; such was the significance of Jenny.

(TN:*Jenny was previously a rare-elite)

Due to her fairly unique status as a Queen-zerg, she was the only one capable of seizing control over rival base structures in the arachnid race (Controlling human base). Therefore, it could be said she represented the Mothernest herself. When Queen Jenny arrived, she immediately transmitted a mental message to Sheyan; explaining that there was an unfathomable, domineering spirit influence guarding over these rocks. Thus, the mining speed of the drones had substantially declined.

Sheyan immediately inquired about two relevant problems.

Firstly, was it possible to clarify the source of this spirit influence, and secondly, the possibility of weakening this spirit influence; thus, increase the rate of mining!

Jenny started communicating with the Mothernest. After a brief while, she confided with Sheyan – it seems this spirit influence had been manipulated to preside over these terrain many years ago. According to her conjecture, the entire Windstone Highland was under the protection of this mystical spirit influence. Probably, that was one of the reason why the layer of plateau on the Windstone Highland had never collapsed.

As of now, there was no way for the excavation to speed up. The deeper they dug, the stronger the mystical spirit influence would become. Thus, the resistance would only become greater, and the entire excavation would at least, require a full 6-7 days period……..

Finally, Jenny further advised Sheyan; an ordinary human would be susceptible to this spirit influence. Under too much exposure, the human may easily turn deranged and act out crazily. Therefore, notions of seeking assistance from the RDA company was bluntly cancelled…….

Upon listening to such an unfortunate report, Mogensha and Reef stared blankly at each other. They both only had a 15 days prolonged stay previously. Presently, 10 days had past. If they were to drag on for another 6-7 days, only Sheyan would be able to remain here based on his additional 3 days of prolonged stay. As such, both of them would be forced to return to the realm!

Luckily this time, Growth-hunter Mcdh stood forward, and gifted Reef and Mogensha with a ‘one-time-usage’ item. This item was called the ‘GDS Point Orientation System’, produced in the Matrix world. It could allow them upon returning to the realm, to orientate out a certain contestant’s position, and be teleported into that contestant’s world.

Of course, to utilize such an item, the prerequisite was – apart from knowing that contestant’s nightmare realm serial number, that contestant must also spontaneously coordinate his current position to them. Most crucially, the usage fee for this item was exorbitantly expensive, charging a rate of utility points for every hour, in addition to further compounding.

Mcdh then cited an example – once Reef and Mogensha were to be teleported here, it would require a fee of 20,000 utility points (for 2 persons), which only allows them to stopover for an hour. If they were to exceed by 1 second, the charging fee would inflate to 40,000 utility points!! That 40,000 utility points would be their fee for staying another hour……..if they wanted to say for 3 hours, then it would 80,000 utility points and 160,000 following and so on.

In actual fact, such exorbitant rates were probably related to this being a realm war as well. According to Mcdh’s earlier experience, a single person’s first usage fee wouldn’t exceed 3,000 utility points.

Nonetheless, the appearance of this item resolved the impasse they had. Anyway, the formidability of Chieftain Cherokee spoke for itself. With Reef and Mogensha around when completing the mission, it would no doubt mean 2 security insurance. As for Mcdh, though he had already harvested a suitable powerful beast soul, the prospect of Cherokee’s unrivalled Thanator still haunted his mind.

One must understand, there was a sliver of chance that reviving a seed would fail. Undoubtedly, if Mcdh could acquire the soul of that unrivalled Thanator, his chances of reviving his lover would be in the bag.

After a series of discussions, the conclusion was to continue staying on guard here, boringly spectating the group of drones mining away. Although Sheyan was an individual that valued his opportunities and time, he didn’t dare to become negligent now and be distracted with thoughts of completing other missions. Because, one couldn’t proclaim that a random unexpected variable wouldn’t occur. With the state of development of the Golden Side Mission thus far, he wouldn’t want to ruin the enterprise for the sake of one basketful; ending up with tears by grabbing the trifles, but letting go of the big prize!

Ultimately, the 15 days retention expired. The deadline for Mogensha and Reef had arrived…….both individuals were exceedingly reluctant, after spectating the pack of drones chiselling away at rocks in seemingly slow motion……….this farewell was practically akin to watching the maiden they were infatuated in, jumping into the embrace of another. They harboured a great hidden bitterness!!

Although the two were unwilling to leave, they couldn’t defy the compelling regulation of the realm. Gradually, they vanished from this world. At present, Sheyan could only sigh deeply. If Mcdh had nursed an errant and desired to make things difficulty, then now would be the perfect time. Except, Sheyan was still in control of a thousand zerglings, and assisted by several elite arachnids; attempting to kill him would be equivalent to committing suicide!

Finally, only 5 hours remained to Sheyan’s imminent departure…..the spacious underground tunnel was finally linked up! One couldn’t blame the pace of the arachnids, because the further they dug, the more spirit disturbance they felt. At the latter portions, Sheyan even witnessed several drones suddenly exploding into a melancholic pile of green while digging. According to Queen-zerg Jenny, their bodies had accumulated an excessive amount of vile spirit essence and thus exploded.

Following the re-linking up of the underground channel, Sheyan brandished his hand with a gloomy countenance. A thousand zerglings directly pounced forth vehemently, and invaded the underground tunnel. Right now, the most critical issue was to avoid the scenario of ‘one guarding the narrow pass, none can enter.’ If not, there was indeed a possibility of encountering a great reversal within these 5 hours!

Fortunately, the arachnid drones weren’t as glamorous as ‘overthrowing the heavens’ like human heavy machineries could be; thus, their excavation process had been rather quiet. Therefore, Sheyan’s worries didn’t surface. A thousand zerglings then followed the newly reopened tunnel and infiltrated in, leaving 200 zerglings guarding the channel entrance. Then, the 800 zerglings segregated into a humongous web like formation, and started surveying through the broad underground space.

An hour later, they discovered 7 Mosake warriors; of which, 2 were females and 2 were elderly. Nevertheless, they were mercilessly executed by Sheyan. Living till this state without surrendering, those individuals were clearly obstinate loyalists. Sheyan had his own living principles, but he would absolutely not allow seeds of dissent to arise! He had already given the enemy a chance to live, and wouldn’t permit a second time!

The price for slaying those 7 Mosake warriors were 400 zerglings. Still Sheyan could instantly replenish his army, and even increase the amount exploring inside the underground tunnel; increasing to 1,200 zerglings!

2 hours later, another 21 Mosake warriors were discovered. Similarly, not one was spared.

3 hours later, they finally locked onto Cherokee’s trail. Sheyan immediately gave an order to surround him, and divided 800 zerglings into 8 squads! Waves of 100 zerglings would take turns to assault! The remaining zerglings were to remain scattered, and search for further traces of life within this underground tunnels! If one were to be discovered, they were to be killed ruthlessly without hesitation! This actually included any Takji clan member that had been trapped previously, because due to the incident of soul possession by Yimutata, one couldn’t discount the chance of Cherokee pulling a fast one!

Naturally, old Mourbo voiced out in protest. Yet upon seeing that frosty stern expression and gaze of sheyan, he could only feel a tremendous baleful pressure! He only managed to gurgle out several words, but finally halted his words.

Time swiftly trickled away; 2 hours, 30 minutes left to Sheyan’s departure from this world. Through a spirit connection between Jenny and the battling zerglings ahead, she informed Sheyan – the chieftain of the Mosake clan, the leader of the corruptors, Thanator Rider Cherokee was finally slain.

Another 57 seconds later, Jenny once again informed Sheyan; that Tier-7 Thanator was finally killed.

That combination of one man and one beast, had slaughtered a total of 614 zerglings. Finally, they fell to the ravenous chomping of the 615th zergling.
