Chapter 532: "Avoiding" Trouble
Chapter 532: “Avoiding” Trouble
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━Having already settled down her initial anxiety, Emilia hesitantly picked Cynthia up from the seemingly uncomfortable position she was in, and made her way over to the somewhat more organized center of the pillow nest.
Even if she knew that it was impossible for the raven-haired girl to get any cramps or kinks in her neck regardless of how she ‘slept’, the crimson-haired girl felt much better after she settled her partner down in a much more natural position, though the position of one of the pillows was currently being occupied by her thighs.
Running her fingers gently though Cynthia’s raven locks, Emilia couldn’t help but sigh. “I don’t know how strong you used to be, or how long it will take for you reach that point again…”
She paused, not letting the ‘if that is even possible’ that came to her mind slip from her tongue. “… I only hope that when the time comes, I’m ready…”
As for what it was that she needed to be ready for, even Emilia had no idea. How did Cynthia end up in the position she was in, and what did she seek in the end?
She may not have asked these questions directly, but how could Emilia miss how carefully her partner had skirted around these topics in all their past discussions?
The crimson-haired girl shook her head with a sigh. ‘Forget it… whatever it is, only time will tell. I just have to do everything I can to be the best that I can be until then.’
After making sure that the ‘evolution’ would only be beneficial for Cynthia, the crimson-haired girl only caressed her partner’s soft raven locks for a few more minutes before gently settling her into the pillow nest.
Before leaving, she leaned down to press her lips against the sleeping girl’s temple. “Wake up soon, Cynthia.”
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
The moment Emilia left, Cynthia’s eyes immediately snapped open, and she buried her face in the nearby pillow to scream. ‘FUCK! Almost scared me to death!’
Although she couldn’t see what kind of expression she was making, the feeling of her partner’s icy death glare could still be felt brushing against her skin, making the raven-haired girl shudder in terror.
If she could, Cynthia would have definitely changed the crimson-haired girl’s eyes a little to dull down some of the sharpness in her eyes. Unfortunately, trying to do so would not only be extremely troublesome, but might also allow her partner to discover her fear.
And if allowing sharks to smell blood in the sea was a bad idea, Cynthia knew that letting Emilia know that she didn’t ‘like’ any particular part of her body wouldn’t just be terrible, but monumentally disastrous.
Even if she didn’t get beaten on the spot, Emilia would definitely sulk and pout about the matter for weeks to come. And Cynthia was very aware of her own lack of ability in ‘coaxing’ even the simplest of beings.
Against someone like Emilia, she felt simply hopeless.
Her partner’s comprehension of the void formula was increasing too fast, not to mention her unexplainable compatibility with the chaos energy, so there was simply no way to hide her own evolution from the girl… especially with such poor timing.
Of course, if the collected chaos energy from the missions had been more reasonable, Cynthia knew that she would have only entered the evolutionary state after transitioning away from this world, and could have easily made Emilia believe that she was just ‘resting’ after all the hard work.
The raven-haired girl couldn’t help but kick one of her pillows away in frustration. “This is all the fault of that stupid world will! Hoarding so much chaos energy while being at such a low level, hmph, seeking death!”
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Emilia didn’t pry into Cynthia’s affairs after leaving, and only played around with the chaos energy in her body for a while before exiting her soul scape.
Naturally, she wasn’t oblivious to the fact that her strangeness had caused some worry in the hearts of the people around her.
She didn’t want to tell them everything was okay when it was not, but Emilia also didn’t want them to worry needless about things they couldn’t really help with.
Now that the matter was already more or less clear, however, Emilia obviously wouldn’t let them continue to worry for her, and called in one of the hostesses to forward her request.
“Oh, and could you tell someone to fetch me a pen and paper too, while you’re at it?”
“Of course, princess! It would be my greatest honor!” The hostess thumped her chest like a warrior. Had there been a possibility, perhaps her elderly etiquette teacher would have jumped right out of his grave to smack her in anger.
With the speed she dashed at to bring in the required ‘goods’, though, perhaps he would have just gotten run over and died again.
Blinking in surprise at the fresh notebook and pen in front of her, Emilia could only give the speedy lady a nod. “Thank you.”
“I-I’ll go let everyone know that they have been summoned, princess!” The blushing lady left excitedly before she could respond, completely missing the crimson-haired girl telling her that there was no need to rush.
Emilia could only smile wryly before shaking her head to focus her thoughts on the blank paper in front of her. ‘Forget it. Let’s see now… were there any more changes I needed to discuss with Crystal before the announcement tomorrow?’
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
By the time everyone arrived, the crimson-haired girl had only managed to scribble about two lines, and one of them was just a note reminding herself to confirm it with Crystal later.
Feeling a little embarrassed, Emilia quickly closed it shut before anyone caught a glimpse of what she was doing. “Hi! So, uh, I know everyone must have been worried about me since I was acting a little strange today, right?”
She grinned. “Actually, there’s nothing for you to be worried about now, you see—”
As she proceeded to tell them about how her strange behavior was actually just because of a slight anomaly in her partner’s behavior, Emilia couldn’t help but blink at the curious looks she was getting. “I did tell you about Cynthia before, didn’t I?”
