It felt very surreal as if Lu Xuan was locking her down at soul level, making any attempts to resist completely futile.
There was never any true shackle placed on her, yet she felt as if she was shackled all the same.
That was what made it so terrifying.
She was able to sense that finger attack clearly about to strike, yet she had no way of evading it at all.
Cold sweat burst all over her, making her look like she just got fished out of the water.
A bitter smirk was seen on her face. While she knew that there was probably quite a gap between her and Lu Xuan, she utterly never expected said gap to be such a chasm.
She was almost utterly helpless before him. It could even be said he could have killed her without breaking a sweat if he so fancied.
Her cultivation level at Celestial Realm, which she was so confident in, was practically as useful as cardboard when standing off against him.
“So this is what the number one in the number is capable of, eh? Impressive indeed.”
Wei Ziyu forced a smile on her face somewhat, feeling rather exhausted just to talk, as she was very tired all over by then.
“That’s me overwhelming you at the mental level,” Lu Xuan commented plainly.
“You’re indeed powerful, and I’d say that you’re quite formidable for one at Celestial Realm, but I’m not like the others. No Celestial would be able to do much before me.”
Wei Ziyu was very shocked deep down. She was a person with an immense power of will, as she would not have been able to rise in a place like the military. Yet, she remained utterly helpless when Lu Xuan was going about overwhelming her mentally.
It was like he was simply toying with her.
She finally realized by then what he truly meant when he said that she was no match for him.
They were indeed not even at the same order of magnitude, to begin with.
He then patted her on the head and said with a smile, “Just keep working at it.”
He then boarded the helicopter that was standing by for quite some time shortly after with Ling Huang, heading straight for the Guimen Sect.
Wei Ziyu remained exasperated, before smiling for a bit. She sighed, saying, “It’s indeed a pity. Someone that exceptional would definitely be a good match, but too bad he’s not a good match for me unless I’m willing to act as if he’s the center of the world, with him as the sun and me the moon. I’d really have to keep my head down all the time, as that’d be the only way our family could work, but I’d no longer be me if I were to do so.”
She had a mind of steel, and all that she said was but for her to vent her exasperation, which she quickly let go of. While Lu Xuan was an excellent person, he was more than what she could handle.
The Guimen Sect was situated somewhere at the cliffs of the Kunlun Mountains, which in turn were located in the western regions.
The helicopter brought both Lu Xuan and Ling Huang to the feet of the Kunlun Mountains.
To put it precisely, while the place was one of the renowned, revered mountains of Huaxia, it was a place of perilous terrain, where danger lurked everywhere.
There was not even a clear track leading up to the mountains to be found, and one could only vaguely make out a path leading to the peak.
In Ling Huang’s eyes, the looks of things around and the steep terrain before him simply made the entire mountain look like some demon with its mouth wide opened.
The Guimen Sect!
He was vaguely feeling a chill running down his spine, and the terrain before him felt like a demon with its bloody mouth wide open.
On the other hand, Lu Xuan was able to see more than that, thanks to his Delusion-breaker Eyes.
There was a demonic qi permeating the entire region. One could even say that the entire mountain felt like a naturally formed mountain of the demons.
Despite his breadth of knowledge, he was still unable to figure out why such a ghastly mountain would be born among the mountains of the Kunlun region. Conventional sense had it that the dragon vein would have been able to easily dispel all that demonic qi when it was at the height of its power.
Precisely-put, someone seemed to have placed a lockdown on the demonic qi around those parts, enabling it to settle naturally.
A stern voice heard from above, not long after Lu Xuan and Ling Huang arrived at the mountain, said, “Halt, intruders!”
“Noisy, cheap tricks.”
Lu Xuan snorted and grabbed at the air before him. A figure was then pulled out of the sky. It had initially seemed pitch black and devoid of anything tangible. It then slammed to the ground.
That figure was a young man sporting a Fu Manchu mustache, and he was dressed in a black robe.
That man was a “receptionist” to the Guimen Sect.
However, the sect itself was considered a heretical one. As such, they looked spooky and hardly resembled normal sects.
“You dare to strike me!? How dare you!?”
While that receptionist disciple was made short work of earlier, he did not appear to be afraid at all, given how he barked at the supposed intruders right away.
“It doesn’t matter who you people are. Let it be known that you’re done for, for you’ve offended the Guimen Sect. No one in the world would be able to save you!”
Lu Xuan glared at that disciple with cold eyes and said, “Where’s that Young Master Gui of you Guimen Sect people? Tell him to come and meet his doom!”
The mention of the name—Young Master Gui—sent shivers down the spine of that disciple. It was as if he had just been reminded of something extremely terrifying.
“Who are you people? How dare you come looking for trouble at the Guimen Sect?”
A voice was berating the two of them at that moment from the top of the mountain. It was apparent that even the higher-ranked fighters found Lu Xuan as well.
The Guimen Sect had been lording over the western regions for many years, and none had dared to crash their gates like Lu Xuan did.
“You think you people of the Guimen Sect to be big shots, eh? Just tell your Young Master Gui to face me,” Lu Xuan continued plainly.
“How insolent.”
A figure was seen emerging from the dark of night. He brought about a flash of the blade right at Lu Xuan.
However, a shriek was heard at the very next second, and that figure was seen crashing to the ground.
One could tell from the flickers of lamps around that the attacking figure was a young man who seemed to be in his early thirties, who was surprisingly struck through by a pebble.
The penetrative power of that pebble was far above even that of bullets.
That man breathed his last shortly after, as it was his heart that got penetrated.
The people of the Guimen Sect finally realized by then that the one who showed up at their door did not come with good intentions.
It was apparent that the two men before them were there with an expressed purpose of doing them harm.
“Activate the protective formation and trap that guy!”
An unknown voice was heard shouting, and the barrier throughout the entire mountain was activated shortly after.
A formation was being brought up slowly.
Lu Xuan and Ling Huang saw demonic spirits filling up the space before them all of a sudden. Those spirits were of all manner of shapes and sizes, and their numbers seemed endless as they swarmed the two of them.
“Ghosts!” Ling Huang whelped frantically right away. He had no idea if those things existed or not.
Lu Xuan extended his hand right away and pointed. The power of thunder blasted from his fingertip, shredding the black mists and tearing all those eerie spirits apart. None of them were able to do him any harm.
“Come on, let’s get up the mountain.”
Lu Xuan walked up to the mountain with Ling Huang in tow.
That barrier and formation were utterly useless in stopping Lu Xuan, who had his Delusion-breaker Eyes fully at work.
