Chapter 289 – Pressing Down to the Ground

Lu Xuan targeted Garcia before anyone else.
He was the dark spellcaster from the Covenant of Darkness.
That was the second-largest cultivation force in North America after the Vampiric Empire.
With the upper echelon of the empire almost being taken down entirely by Lu Xuan, the dark spellcasters’ faction grew exponentially for the past year or so, enabling them to almost be on par with the empire of vampires in terms of power.
Things would have gotten worse if it had not been for Cain—the ancestor of the vampires—being the key intimidation factor to the spellcasters.
The dark spellcasters would have otherwise taken over the vampires’ place entirely before long.
“Such speed.” Garcia saw a flicker. Lu Xuan appeared right in front of him, making the young man’s frightening speed obvious to all.
The speed was so great that it had easily broken the sound barrier.
Lu Xuan was moving so frighteningly fast that the act itself served as a testament to his extremely formidable physicality.
One would have needed a tremendous level of cultivation of one’s physical body, to ensure one’s body stay intact while moving at such blitzing speeds.
Boom!
A punch landed squarely on Garcia, a punch that was hardly more than a simple jab. Yet, that punch packed an unbelievable amount of power. Garcia was sent flying by that punch right away, dissolving into mirrors in midair.
He was then seen appearing far away under a blob of pitch-black mist, and he looked utterly shocked.
That move was one of the spells practiced by the dark spellcasters, which was named “Dark Mirror.”
It was a skill that rendered its user immune to damage at key moments.
That skill was originally developed to defend against sudden attacks like being bombarded by missiles and such. He never expected himself to use such a skill at such a time and place.
Lu Xuan was moving so quickly that he was unable to even chant the words for spells. He was able to escape only by maintaining the activation of such a skill.
That simple jab almost killed him right there and then. That jab packed a force that almost comparable to that of a missile.
Even the air was heard cracking when the attack hit. It sounded as if the air itself was undergoing some sort of collapse.
When one’s speed got to such extremes, even a single punch could have packed unbelievably devastating force, after all.
But then again, that was if one’s body was able to withstand the strain of moving at such speeds in the first place.
Garcia knew just how perilous things had been for him moments ago after recovering from it only now. He realized that he had truly underestimated Lu Xuan—the man who had just beaten down the higher command of the vampires just little more than a year ago.
Lu Xuan had once been lauded as the number one in the world. His time spent trapped in the vampires’ ancestral land did not make him suffer like what most imagined it to be. On the contrary, his powers had grown exponentially instead.
“Boy, you’re fast,” Lu Xuan smirked faintly and commented.
He then disappeared from where he stood again, right after he spoke.
He moved as if he was capable of teleportation.
He appeared right before Garcia at the very next second.
Garcia’s eyes were wide opened, knowing that Lu Xuan was cashing in on every bit of advantage he had. Garcia was unable to react in time and was only able to activate a defensive spell, which had been inscribed into his robe prior.
The spell formed a barrier right before him.
However, that barrier was of little use, as it was penetrated almost immediately. Lu Xuan had no problem punching through that barrier, and his fist landed squarely on Garcia’s chest.
Boom!
A rumble was heard, and Garcia was sent flying right away, crashing to the ground several times over afterward.
Blood spewed from his mouth right away, making him feel as if his surroundings were spinning. There was no telling just how many bones throughout his body were broken. His chest seemed to have caved in entirely.
That was something he had never felt before, not even when fighting against the holy knights of the church.
He was unable to make use of any spell in time. It was a one-sided slaughter from his perspective.
The way things unfolded was different from what he had expected. Not even the holy knights of the church would have been able to do anything to him if he were to be careful.
Yet, Lu Xuan made that rule obsolete. He was moving at such an extreme speed that Garcia was unable to even defend himself.
That one punch had practically crippled him altogether. Blood oozed from every orifice throughout his body.
All that had only taken place in time enough only for drawing a few breaths, and nobody around was able to adequately react.
Lu Xuan simply combined speed with power and had done nothing else. No one expected him to bring that much force to bear.
“Sh*t. This is boring. Looks like this is all you dark spellcasters got, no? The vamps could at least take a beating better than you people.”
Lu Xuan dusted his hands, making it seem like he had just done something so easy that it was not worth mentioning.
“My turn to beat you guys down. You punks have an awful lot of guts, killing my people and all. I’ll have you learn just what kind of a person is actually deemed absolutely off-limits.”
Lu Xuan narrowed his gaze. A burst of terrifying glint was seen within.
That huge white snake spewed cold air at that moment, sweeping at Lu Xuan at blitzing speeds.
The snake was moving surprisingly fast.
The burst of freezing breath froze the air around, yet Lu Xuan was seen bursting right through said cold air by only extending his hand.
“Not your turn yet. Stay down!” Lu Xuan shouted.
The air seemed to coalesced immediately at a frightening rate in midair as his Spiritual Qi fluctuated.
The air then materialized into a large hand, which pummeled the snake right away.
Boom!
A rumble was heard as the white snake’s head was pressed down to the ground by that huge hand.
Roarrr!
That white snake roared, yet its head remained completely pressed down by Lu Xuan’s huge hand, preventing it from moving elsewhere.
Its huge tail continued to flail about, intending to attack Lu Xuan and free itself. The attempt was futile.
The white snake continued to spew frighteningly cold breath from its huge mouth, freezing the ground right there and then.
It was utterly incapable of shaking itself free.
The tail from that huge monster swiped at the building around it, which caused the entire structure to keep shaking.
That old shaman and the monk from Southeast Asia watched it all unfold with jaws dropping to the ground.
“He is of Airborne Realm!”
That old man was quite literally close to being frightened to death on the spot.
The shamans had been throwing their weight around in the northern regions, and they owed their supremacy in a major way to Liu Bowen severing the dragon’s vein hundreds of years ago. This had caused the cultivators of Huaxia to suffer a crippling blow.
But then again, they were not of an organization which had no foundation or heritage, so it was only natural that they knew that there was Airborne Realm above the Celestial Realm as well.
There were two notable traits to those of Airborne Realm. The first of which was the ability to fly, and the second was the ability to manipulate ambient qi.
The shaman had yet to reach such a realm, but he knew of it nonetheless.
That was made him realize something when Lu Xuan was seen being able to easily press down on the terrifying white snake on the ground.
He realized that they were truly done for.
He had truly run into a wall that they had no way of surmounting.
“How could he be of Bodhisattva Phala!?”
That monk from Southeast Asia was almost frightened to death as well.
The highest level to be achieved in Southeast Asian Buddhism was the Arhat Phala, due to them practicing Hinayana Buddhism. Yet, that was not to say that he knew nothing of Mahayana Buddhism.
