Chapter 110 - I'll Marry Her
Chapter 110 – I’ll Marry Her
It took me quite some time to adjust to Belcoot. But thanks to the kind people in the estate, they all helped me adjust to the weather, to the customs, and almost everything. It had been two weeks since we arrived. Hugo was always busy from the second he woke up, but he would usually join me for lunch. If he couldn't make it, he would return to join me for dinner.
That had always been our routine. I was already happy to share a meal with him, but Hugo would sleep in my bedroom every single night. Although the royal physician told us to have some breaks, I just couldn't refuse Hugo, as I enjoyed our intimate times together. It was exhausting, though.
"Even if Luna is not officially your wife, it's not like it will change your mind." I snapped my eyes when Ivo spoke. We were currently in one of the drawing rooms where Hugo and I shared some tea. Hugo didn't have to go today, so we were simply spending the day together.
Ivo stood beside the table, eyes on Hugo. "So, it's better for her to take some lessons as the grand duchess and take in a lady-in-waiting."
"I believe I am the future husband and not my future wife's owner. The decision regarding the matters in the estate lies in Rinrin's hands." Hugo cast me a knowing look. "Rinrin, do you want to take some lessons and get involved in the matters of the estate? You don't have to say 'yes' if you don't want to."
"Alpha Hugo, I know you want to give our luna the freedom she deserves, but this is also called favoritism. Why don't we get the same liberty to decide?"
"Well, do you want to be my wife, Ivo? You could've said so. Take some lessons on how to be a grand duchess, so Rinnie doesn't need to bother."
"Bias. Heartless. Bully." Ivo's expression died.
I chuckled as Ivo never changed. In the past two weeks and even back in the capital, Ivo would usually spat out his dismay without a second hesitation. In turn, Hugo would scold him or give him a tiring task. Perhaps Ivo wasn't aware of it, but he seemed to enjoy being punished.
"What did you say?" Before Hugo and Ivo could even start bickering, I laughed to catch their attention. When the former set his eyes back to me, I sported a smile.
"I would like to take some lessons. People might find it ambitious even though we weren't married yet, but I would like to learn." My smile remained, but then I raised my brows when Hugo just stared at me. What I heard next rendered me speechless.
"Ivo, find someone who can facilitate a wedding right this instance. I'll marry her," Hugo ordered with a straight face, eyes burning on me. Did I say something that ignited that fire in his eyes?
Ivo gasped in disbelief. "Alpha Hugo! How can you just do that without proper preparation?! Forget about your people's feelings and a grand banquet, but where's the proposal?"
"Proposal?" Hugo's brows furrowed as he gazed at Hugo, tilting his head. "What's that for?"
"Goodness! That is the proper way to ask her ladyship's hand!" Ivo pinched the space between his brows. "Even werewolves do that now."
"I know what a proposal is, Ivo. But what I don't understand is why do we need to bother?" Hugo argued in the same tone. "Rinnie likes me and I love her. I also knew she wants to marry me — she just said it now. So why do I have to ask her if we already know the answer?"
"She just said, what now?! Our Luna didn't say anything!"
"She said we aren't married yet. That means she wants to marry me. Do you have an ear problem?"
Ivo scrunched his nose up, massaging his temple before walking closer to Hugo's side. He then bent over, moving his hands to explain it to Hugo thoroughly.
"You see, Your Grace, even if that is the case…" I chuckled as I listened to Ivo's explanation while Hugo nodded in understanding.
I had a dream before. A dream of a young girl who also wanted to meet her knight in shining armor and fall in love with him. It was simple. A convenient story where we would live happily ever after. I didn't consider the wedding or anything else because my mind was already set at the end of the story.
Although Hugo made his entrance naked and not in shining armor, and even though he was a werewolf and I was a human, that didn't matter. Be it an abrupt wedding or a grand one — that wouldn't matter as long as he was the person I would be exchanging vows with. I knew that was what Hugo also felt.
But Ivo seemed to have another plan in mind since he was determined to 'make Hugo move my heart to tears' so I wouldn't leave their beloved alpha. Ivo mentioned that purposely, so Hugo would listen. So now, I was watching them with a smile while enjoying my cup of tea.
'They look so serious whispering to each other,' I chuckled secretly. These two wouldn't mind talking about the current state of affairs in front of me, but now they were keeping this 'plan' to move my heart to tears as if it was the secret for immortality.
"Ahem!" Ivo cleared his throat as he straightened his back, wrapping up whispering ideas to Hugo's ears. "My lady, please forgive us if we're rude."
"Not at all." I shook my head before catching Hugo's gaze. He narrowed his eyes and just smiled. Whatever Ivo told him, he looked pleased.
"Anyway, since you said you want to learn how to manage the grand duchy, I will be at your service." Ivo placed his palm across his chest; his tone was a bit more formal. "With that being said, I will also give you a list of noble ladies who can be your lady-in-waiting."
"Ah, about that…" I bit my tongue lightly when Ivo raised his brows. I glanced at Hugo and tilted his head, gesturing me to speak freely.
"I already have someone in mind about that." I cleared my throat and mustered my courage.. "I would like to take Adelia as my lady-in-waiting."
